AGM: CELTIC STATEMENT

CELTIC have issued a statement following the early cancellation of the 2025 AGM meeting at Parkhead today.

Peter Lawwell, who had earlier called for some of the gathering to “show a little respect”, was forced to call a halt amid a storm of protests and red cards.

The chairman said: “I am going to have to apologise to those supporters who have the best interests of the club at heart, but I am going to have to draw the meeting to a close.”

The club followed up with an official statement that read: “Regrettably, due to the continuing disruptive conduct of a small number of individuals preventing the orderly management of today’s AGM, we were required to conclude the meeting earlier than we had planned.

“Such conduct is completely unacceptable and hugely disappointing, and while today’s events are completely outwith our control, clearly we regret the impact on our shareholders who were deprived of the opportunity to take part in an orderly and constructive meeting.

“Chairman Peter Lawwell called a poll on the resolutions at the end of the meeting, the results of which will be made available once counted and verified by our registrar, Computershare.

“Should any shareholders wish to raise a question, they can do so by contacting our investor relations department and we will endeavour to respond to any queries.”

While there is so much unrest off the field, interim manager Martin O’Neill will have to make sure his players’ minds are totally focused on the champions’ first game after the international break tomorrow night.

The Hoops are due to face St Mirren in Paisley with an 8pm kick-off in a dress rehearsal for the Premier Sports League Cup Final between the clubs at Hampden on Sunday December 14.

It will be the Irishman’s fifth game in charge since answering the call over three weeks ago to take over following the sudden departure of Brendan Rodgers.
