There is a story about Fergus McCann which is probably apocryphal but is told regularly, nonetheless. Fergus met residents from Janefield St to discuss their concerns about the proposed new Celtic Park, with its towering stands, which were bound to interfere with their television signal. Fergus offered to pay every resident’s TV licence fee, all they needed to do was produce the licence at Celtic Park reception. As the story goes, the crowd went away happy, but no one subsequently turned up with the licence. That’s the thing about crowds, you never really know on an individual level.
On a related topic, the AGM vote results were published last night. Each director was reappointed with over 99% of the vote, which I don’t think has happened before. The caveat: a 99% vote does not mean 99% of the shareholders, Around 78% of shares are held by large or institutional holders, but that still leaves 22% of you, me and others among the 27,000 shareholders who sit on the slopes of Celtic Park. The angst (among some) in the room on Friday did not register in the vote, or at least, not in the expected manner.
I’ve been asked lots since Friday what ‘normal’ Celtic fans think about the AGM, which is a fatal question to answer. Try not to tell people what Celtic fans think, you are bound to be wrong almost 60,000 times. What is for sure, is that I never expected opposition to the board on Friday to be so soft. Votes against Dermot Desmond’s reappointment were less than those against six other directors, which is astonishing. Either some people protested, then shrugged, or many holding those 22% of shares wanted to make thier own silent statement.

This time last year, after game 5 of the Champions League, we had 8 points.
Today that would have us in 12th place out of 36 teams, with a few still to play their 5th game. After tonight’s games have been played, 8 points would probably still have us in the top 15.
Above the likes of Barcelona, Napoli, Juventus, Benfica, Atl Madrid and Ajax.
But let’s all pretend that we can’t compete in the CL, that the gulf is so large now that it is unbridgeable. Nothing much has changed in the world of CL football since November 2024 that means we should slip quietly into the night without putting up a fight.
Not surprisingly but I find today’s article more than a bit disingenuous.
25% of eligible shareholdings didn’t vote.
I suspect this is the block mostly owned by fans.
P67 is claiming their non votes as support for the board.
It’s more so down to lost certificates, ignorance of how to vote and in some cases, too lazy to vote.
Merchandise sales will be a more accurate barometer of supporter feelings.
Happy Wednesday all!
Do not underestimate the feelings of the Support with regards to the Execs and Non Execs would be my advice, wait until half yearly and full yearly accounts are published with Income from Merchandise etc, instead a leader if we had any would be building bridges and undertaking constructive discussions to address the concerns of the grass root support. Two statements from a minority shareholders has shown he isn’t that person.
Absolute bollocks Paul, and you know it is.
The gaslighting of this support is off the charts.

“I never expected opposition to the board on Friday to be so soft…”
Would those identified ‘opposition’ most likely be those fellow shareholders who have a vested financial interest in a high performing money-making machine, rather than the stakeholder opposition (fans/paying stiffs) who invest their hearts, souls, happiness and money in the club they love being/becoming a high-performing, high-achieving football side ?

Good afternoon all.

Yes the controlling shareholder made a real mess by appointing BR and letting him destroy our successful and enjoyable treble winning side. BR sowed discord throughout the club for over a year and I really do hope more will become public knowledge on this.
He discovered his error and the magnitude of Rodgers behaviour too late. This is a poor reflection on coms within the club hierarchy for sure. He has the clear evidence now for sure.
Sadly rather than picking his way through the situation deftly and seeking to resolve he is applying a bulldozer which is unfortunate although I perhaps can see why given the anarchic level of some of the ‘malcontents’. As Paul suggests though Celtic fans are a broad church / chapel. DD should respect this more and also show more humility given his mistake initiated the problem we have now.
As for a year ago I get it. We were very lucky to get that point v Brugge and had beaten a very poor Leipzig after a win v the hapless Slovan. One great result at Atalanta (a great personal away trip despite the rain) and a surprise away performance against a strong but overconfident Bayern were highlights for me but ultimately we finished a lower level qualifier despite a very easy CL draw and then failed to beat Kairat after losing to Aberdeen and failing to beat a rank rotten rangers in 5 attempts.
DD and BR have lost to answer to. Especially the latter who has played a shocking game. DD is fully engaged it seems. This feels better to me now. Better than 49rs or other investors I can think of. I think the next stage could be great. IF we can align and work as a genuine unit. Sadly a part of the so called ‘collective’ will never align and for me that boil needs lanced and the hard work of really upping our game to communicate much better with the silent majority needs to commence.
Otherwise ‘sack the board’ will continue to simply give our rivals hope.
James Forrest please please
I get you are struggling but go try to get a real job and stop topping up your pocket money with your anti Celtic shock jock nonsense.
Parasite or what ?
Anyway maybe one day you will get far enough up the season ticket waiting list. Who knows ?
Bitter Bitter csc.
Interesting what lancing the boil would mean to Desmond, I wouldn’t be surprised for it to be a stadium ban for all opposition to him.
The summer of 2025 , – not an exhaustive list but more relevant to supporters
Thinking hoarding cash had “ inherent inefficiencies “ then saying “ it showed good financial planning “
Thinking it was o.k. to sell your best winger without any replacement until you were in the Europa contributing to a £40M loss.
Thinking having no right wingers other than 34 year old was fine.
Thinking that selling your ‘talisman’ striker without any replacement was fine.
Thinking that selling your only other first team striker on deadline day was fine.
Thinking a ‘free agent’ whose previous contract had been ripped up was fine.
Thinking it was fine to let BR carry on and do a third consecutive successful
season.
Thinking new European tax codes in different countries ruined Celtic’s transfer business.
Thinking FSR means you can’t spend much money ( then spending £10M ) on last day duplicates.
Thinking £11M plus in corporation tax was fine.
Thinking your son was the right person to talk down to Celtic supporters, about Celtic supporters was fine.

Yer man George Carlin was 100% spot on when he said, and I paraphrase, there is a big club and we ain’t in it.
It’s how the world works, everything is only about the money, and don’t delude yourself that they are not all in the club, the Americans, the Brits, the Israelis, the Chinese, the Russians, the Japanese, the N Koreans etc etc, they care not one jot about us, they do care about stealing our money, they are supposedly at war yet they still trade with each other, Celtic PLC is exactly the same but on a much smaller scale, they just want our money, it’s a clear as the nose on your face.

Morning BRRB!
Hey, our AGM wasn’t that bad ( in comparison )
Check out the farce at the House of Commons.
Morning Aipple , afternoon in Rutherglen
Speaking to the guy next door says he got rear ended by an ice cream van, maintains he’s got whippy lash.
Have a good day one more sleep 👍
Afternoon BSR.
Been enjoying your posts as per usual.
Whippy lash indeed, Some proper madness on here recently.
99% of the vote is the hallmark of a dictatorship.
“DD is fully engaged it seems.”
😂
No madness from me, I’m the only sensible poster on here.
🤪
I didn’t go and didn’t vote. I am not happy with the current board ‘s performance but who would do a better job? There’s nothing about the shouty brigade that gives me the impression that their choices would remotely improve things.
Aye, right ye are BRRB!
😃😃😃
Tír gan teanga, tír gan anam.
Didn’t take long for the staunch Board lovers to appear…..pure deflection
dessybhoy – high noon
Perhaps you should have made it clear, or clearer, that it was the OBR itself who published its’ own forecast on its own website. Had she chosen to do so wee Kemikaze could have used it during Prime Ministers Questions, in effect pre-empting the Chancellor’s statement. That said the Labour government has been leaking details of the budget over the last few weeks, eg train fares, NLW increase (which is not really a government brief) freezing personal tax thresholds ie increasing Income Taxes) etc.
This is a shambles of a blog post. The 99% in favour includes everyone who did not vote.
Exiledtim @12.29
Great post, well done

Can’t help feeling that, had the sevco board made the statement “we recognise we’ve made mistakes”, we’d have an article about it on CQN.
How disappointing, therefore, that our own Chairman can make such a statement without any consideration on here
CQN used to go where others feared to tread.
Now, it’s a lot more spin from far fewer spinners
Very sad
Still, 99% of fans are happy…or something

Ridiculous scenes of disruption in the Commons.
Why doesn’t the Speaker simply abandon the idea endeavour and get the opposition to email their questions to the Chancellor ?
We are in a corporate stranglehold. I worry will Nancy accept the post in the knowledge he will be hamstrung by our signing policy ?
Wow even the North Korean guy doesn’t get 99% – what an utter sham and the vice like grip strengthens. What else could this be called other than a dictatorship……so worrying and not at all what was intended when fan ownership was carried in shoulder high.
So Brian Wilson continues as a NED for the 100th year because for those hundred years he has contributed……..what?
Everbody who supports Celtic do it because they love them.
Well whatever is going on it does not match this definition of real love. What is going on is the opposite.
Perhaps a bit of introspection into what love is might make even the most ardent supporters who profess love of Celtic rethink.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
The rest is at
1 Corinthians 13 NIV – If I speak in the tongues of men or of – Bible Gateway https://share.google/KtTT96fBBm1r6L3rd
In there you will find what masquerades as love.
On a more basic level there is a lot of ST thinking on social media.
ST stands for stinking thinking the most obvious is the idea of nor a penny or boycott will cause Directors to rethink in a less risky manner.
If football earnings fall and Merchandising and Season Ticket money drops then what can be spent to help recuit players will not only drop but any separate financial input does not directly count under FSR.
The Board to get a UEFA licence cannot increase football earnings.
What they can and will do is sell better players for a profit that adds to football ear ings and recruit replacements on lower wages.
FSR has been dismissed becaue our earnings are highest ever but they wont be anywhere near it if the bottom drops out of match day and merchandising income.
That is not a happy clapper input. It comes from understanding how FSR works.
Even if The whole Board is replaced FSR will apply every season.
Then what?
Stop the labling and stop stinking thinking.
