  1. Thursday/Sunday from now on for both Glasgow teams.

The huns are set up far better for this IMO, with genuine backups of a very similar level, in all positions. They are basically capable of operating two teams if needed.

Our backup players are miles below the level of the starters in many cases, and guys like Ralson, Hayes, Morgan etc would all get nowhere near the huns’ team if we are honest.

Signings are really needed I feel (LB, Midfielder – Turnbull?, CB) if we are going to actually compete in Europe, and then come back and win on Sundays against SPFL teams set up deep and fighting for a point.

  4. Luxcelt

    Fraser Foster for Gordon

    Jullien for Jozo

    Griffiths or Bayo for Eddie

    Ntcham for Brown or McGregor

Bitton for McGregor and or Ajer

    Morgan or Mikey for James

I would suggest any of these would walk into the Huns side.

Still to see if Bauer is a beast or a (scape)goat

  5. Fred,

I reckon Chris was wanting Celtic to STRENGTHEN to make it a lot harder for the newco and likely why he was being negative.

Chris and Neil, IMO, are tight friends and Honest fitba dudes.

Lenny is trying to bring everyone Together. Thats the only way to win when everyone wants you beat like never before.

Lenny needs backed. He is a wee Genius.

  6. BBC faint praise of our thrashing of AIK

I’m surprised how poor AIK were’ – analysis

Former Scotland midfielder Michael Stewart on Sportsound

AIK just disintegrated. I’m surprised how poor they became and how easy it was for Celtic in the end. But I’m not surprised Celtic have had more than enough to qualify. It’s a very convincing aggregate score over the Swedish champions.

  7. Lennon also confirmed that new loan signing Moritz Bauer could make his Celtic debut at Ibrox on Sunday in the absence of Hatem Elhamed, who the manager said has a hairline fracture of a bone in his side.

    Head fake or likely?

Interesting take on it. I don’t know how much of the huns you have seen, but seriously…. Morgan? Walk into their team? In front of who??

Morgan couldn’t get a game in League 1 in england last season. I really doubt that Gerrard would even look at him as a potential signing due to how weak he is physically. The Huns’ signings have all fitted the bill as professional athletes, as required by modern football. Morgan, looks like he has never been in a gym in his life.

Similarily, the huns have never been linked with rangers supporter Greig Taylor. He is a midget, so Gerrard and their DoF know that bigger clubs won’t even consider him. He would get nowhere near the current Rangers either.

Personally I like Bitton, but he has never played competitively in midfield this season (i think?) so this suggests that Neil doesn’t see him playing there for us. Aribo and Kamara would both get some game time at Celtic IMO. (Kamara less than Aribo).

Craig Gordon walking in ahead of McGregor…. aye – good luck with that!

And as for your late mention of Jonny Hayes…. he would be nowhere near the Huns team, he is hopeless. Mid-table SPL at best these days. I am honestly that anyone who watches the league could think that, so I am guessing you have not seen any of the Huns games. (Then again, suggesting Mikey Johnston on the right also makes me query how much you have seen of us tbh).

  9. Fred,

God Bless you and All yer crew.

    Yer Magical, like the Celtic.

I know we will need Omega Support to get another Genuine Nine.

  10. Only 6-1 against the Swedish Champions…whit a riddy lol…pretty sure we’ve got enuff about us to get a result at AyeBrokes on Sunday

  11. Hard to imagine what some of the so called Celtic supporters on here tonight are looking for. We win 4-1 yet our manager is clueless, defensive is a shambles etc etc

Well done Bhoys. Absolutely brilliant result. Bring on the weekend.

Glad thems got through too. Good for Scottish football and it will stretch their playing resources a lot thinner than ours.

  12. Garry,

    Who knows whats going on.

I hope you are fine and Dandy good Soul.

  13. So far we have brought in 1 gk (loan), 2 rightback (1 buy and 1 loan with options to buy). 1 leftback (buy), 1 centreback (buy) and a couple of kids. We are still in the market for another leftback. It was alway gonna take time to get that defence sorted given the changes.

The signs of improvement however are there for all to see. Boli has looked better over the last few games as has jullian who will be a very commanding player. The rightback looked good before injury and ff is an upgrade in goal.

Our attacking players have seemingly been given more responsibility to make things happen and to be more direct. Posession is no longer king and so players are allowed to play to their strengths.

If sinclair is frozen out we need a leftwinger to compete with Micky johnstone. We dont need anymore centreback or righrbacks but do need another leftback. Would not say no to a defensive midfielder, we are all right up top. Forrest and shved can battle it out for the right wing.

I would not lose any sleep if we could move on ralston, Hendry, miller, hayes, morgan, sinclair if no plans to play him and/ or eboua (extend contract and loan out for season). I reckon ntcham is likely to find a new home very soon as well.

I do wish we had all our business done at the start of june rather than the end of aug. At some point it will sink in at board level too. if we are selling anyone at the start of next season lets make sure we have a replacement in and ready before the event takes place.

Would Sutton ever be so negative about the Huns after a 1-4 away win in Europe?

Not a hope in hell…Chris, how much did your soul cost ?

    ================================================================

I have major concerns about Celtics performance tonight.

    Porous defence. Marvellous attack.

My soul`s in the same place as Chris`s.

    CONstructive criticism should be welcomed.

  16. Luxcelt

Your original contention was that we were lighter on backups than Sevco, and for that reason we’d find it hard competing against them on a Thursday Sunday schedule.

The league will be won by our first choice team.

Do you also think they have better players than Ajer, Jozo, McGregor, Christie, Brown, Forest, Edouard?

In addition could Rogic, Ntcham, Mikey, Bayo and Morgan get a place?

We have only seen a few glimpses of Jullien and he is improving game by game.

We have yet to see Bauer.

Be positive about our side’s chances against a class of journeymen signed because they were cheep and don’t mind taking a wage from discredited club/company.

    Sunday 3-0

  17. ‘GG

“The league will be won by our first choice team.”

No. It won’t. Especially since we are playing Thursday/Sunday as per my original post. It will be won by our squad.

We have a better 11 than the huns, I agree with you (although not so much better that i can be sure of a win on Sunday). However throughout the season, I believe they currently have a far deeper squad than us.

We can rectify that by signing players, as I called for in my original post.

Thinking that our first choice team will win us the league, is naïve at best. We spent a chunk of last season with 1 fit striker (2 injured/ill) and went to Ibrox with Mikey Johnston up front, and got absolutely humiliated. We need to take the appropriate steps to avoid this happening again.

Even if we do win on Sunday (Personally i predict a draw) we will still need to bring in bodies to stay ahead of them over an attritional season.

  18. macjay1 for Neil Lennon on

There is no first choice team Lennie is able to field.

Theoretically there could be , but injury and suspensions prevent that.

My impression was that we were attempting to improve quality rather than increasing numbers.

The writing off of players like Johnny Hayes , I find surprising. He imho along with some others is well above the average standard of the SPL and a very useful squad member.

Ideally , Lennie would be choosing a team for the domestic game and another for Europe .

    Obviously with some overlaps .

Nally81 – good team selection for the Sevco game, that would be mine as well.

5 across the middle and hit them on the break, let them come at us just into our own half then press and get the ball and attack. Seemples.😂

  20. Hunderbirds are Gone on

Four goals away from home in Europe! Never to be sniffed at, never! We handled a pressure situation (at the start of the game) very well. Good practice for another pressure fixture that we face on Sunday. So well done to Manager, Coaches and Players.

Were there any negatives? Yes a few. Our inability to retain possession from our own throw-ins, has been a sideshow for years now. It is responsible for bringing many of our attacking moves to a shuddering halt, and it puts our defence under a lot of pressure. I find it hard to believe that three successive managers have not noticed this, but if they have, they seem powerless to do anything about it. It is not always appropriate to take a quick throw-in, but we never look to do it, just to mix things up a bit. Nobody really seems to look to offer the thrower any angles or options. A vexing situation, which urgently needs the Coaches’ attention.

Whilst on the subject of needlessly giving possession away, Craig Gordon’s kicking is just terrible. Even now, when the team have dropped the possession obsession, his kicks invariably fall to an opposition player, or are put out of the field of play. If he does find a Celtic player (unusual!), that player is usually rammed up against the touchline with two or three opponents in attendance. Penalties against us. I used to lean forward in my seat, in an excited manner, with a reasonable expectation of a save, when Artur Boruc was our Keeper. Craig? Naw, just don’t expect him to get near a penalty. In fact tonight, I went to get another cold beer out the fridge instead of watching it. Now I am not beating him up, as the advantage is always with the Striker, and I expect the penalty taker to score more often than not (even when Artur was with us), but can he just not save one? Or even get a touch?

The defence in general, had a few shaky moments, but there has been a lot of changes, and no consistency of selection. I think though, that they are improving with every game. Jullien looked well chuffed with his goal (A half yard screamer, lol), and hopefully that will help his confidence, and lead to an improvement in performance. He will need to improve, if Big Chris misses out at Iborcs.

Positives? There were many. James Forrest, the Invisible Man? Lol. Top drawer performance. Two LEFT footed shots on target. He had the defenders on toast all night. He scored one, and had an assist too. He never shirked his defensive duties either.

The front four, all played well, Mikey, Jamesie, Eddie and Ryan are all in form individually, and collectively, if all four play on Sunday, our chances of a good result are high imo. The Huns have faced nothing like them this season, and I hope it shows.

As I already stated, I think the defence is showing a marked improvement as the players get more time together. Ibrox will be a test, but hopefully the defence will be supported by a more robust midfield, that plays smart tactically. There is no need for Broonie and A.N. Other (Calmac? Bitton? N’tcham?) to be rampaging forward. Slightly longer balls forward to one of the Fantastic Four, should get us the goal(s) we need. Can we keep it tight at the back? With Forster between the sticks, I think we can.

Top performance, European Fitba until December at least. Now let’s stake our claim for our title.

Lurkin Huns – Yeah, that’s right, our title.

    Hunderbirds.

    Agree with your assessment.

    Apart from Craig Gordon`s kicking.

Giving the opposition possession with a throw in , in their half , is imho dramatically better than the ” heart in the mouth ” playing out from the back tactic so loved by Brendan.
