AJAX may attempt to hi-jack Celtic’s efforts to arrange a second loan spell for Jason Denayer.
The Dutch giants had a scout at Hamilton on Saturday to spy on the on-loan Manchester City central defender.
Denayer was making his first competitive appearance since November 22 when he was injured in the 2-1 win over Dundee.
The Belgian dovetailed superbly with Virgil van Dijk in the middle of the back four and Ajax boss Frank De Boer will have received a glowing report on the classy 19-year-old.
Ronny Deila will now step up his efforts to get Denayer to commit to another season with the SPFL champions to beat off competition from the Amsterdam giants.
But the player admitted he will wait until summer to make any decision over his future.
He said: “I need to wait until the end of the season and see what happens.
“There are a lot of things in my head at the moment and I just need to concentrate on playing games.”
A host of English scouts were also at New Douglas Park and they couldn’t have failed to have been impressed by the stopper.
It is almost certain his parent club will loan him out again in the new campaign and there could be interest from English top-flight clubs as well as Ajax.
