Ajer, alleged serious organised crime for SFA to consider

426

There’s always some excitement when a player arrives at Lennoxtown with the intent of giving the club a look at his wares. 17-year-old Norwegian midfielder, Kristoffer Ajer, did exactly that yesterday, ahead of what we hope is a busy transfer window.

I’m pleased Ronny is scouting a market he knows well, and that we are looking to recruit below-radar players with potential. It’s also good to have prospects play training games with the squad ahead of any decision. It’s too easy to make multi-year mistakes but Kristoffer will be measured against the first team squad, and the Development Squad.

One of Celtic’s perennial failures is our inability to promote the country’s best youth talent into top professionals. Before Rangers liquidation we were involved in an all-or-nothing arms race. Every game was precious so the prospect of allowing youth players time to develop in the professional game was seen as a luxury too far.

With the greatest respect to our current rivals (including Newco, should our paths meet in the Scottish Cup), those competitive pressures have now eased. Ronny can afford to take a different view of team development. Until August, anyway.

I know what you’re thinking. You read the charges laid out at some of the characters involved with Rangers, old and new, and thought: haven’t Craig Whyte and Charles Green suffered enough? Surely calls for due process to be fulfilled are nothing short of bigoted rants? These men made their mistakes and have come through the mill, they should be allowed to get on with their lives!

Aye, I know, it’s a ridiculous suggestion.

The charge list includes “fraud, conspiracy and serious organised crime”, which is a Sword of Damocles hanging over Ibrox. No current Newco directors were involved in the criminality which is alleged to have facilitated the club’s setup, but that won’t change what happens in the event charges are upheld.

I’m sure the SFA are pondering the scope of punishment appropriate for this scenario.  Irrespective of team loyalties, such is the seriousness of the alleged offenses they will be praying for not guilty verdicts.

Please note that all men charged are innocent until and unless proven otherwise and are entitled to a fair trial unprejudiced by public comment and desist from inappropriate comment.

If you have two minutes, take a look at Steven Donnell’s page here. He’s currently cycling round the Premiership’s 12 grounds to raise money for Accord Hospice in Paisley. In minging weather. With his dad, who is blind.

  1. Every single major football club in Britain has a hierarchy that recommends and signs players, why do Celtic fans want Celtic be any different?

I’d rather just believe some guy on the internet that says Peter Lawell decides.

If he’s a Mo ( the Bounce ) Bangura even Henrik Larsson got the blame

If he’s Big Vic………………….I blame ehhhh?

    ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzz CSC

  2. Re Wakasso and Tonev.

Ronny was asked soon after he was appointed about these two, he said that they had been scouted extensivley and he was happy with what the scouts had told him about them and he was indeed delighted that they had joined the club.

I suppose he was telling porkies, and he scouted them himself.

  3. The dynamics had changed; Pedro knew that. Nonetheless he was in La La La Anterna earlier than he had to be (private booking for New Year’s Eve) but hey, he liked the feeling of being top dog. Even allowing for the fact that he was still an employee, he was the public face of the company after all, and bhoy did that feel good!

Yes the dynamics had indeed changed to such an extent that CFC (Camlachie Fine Castings) were now in a position to call the shots, leaving RIFC (Rusty Iron Foundry Crap) with a less than bullish 20% input with regard to ‘the Glasgow old firm’ business; maybe we could squeeze them even more following their liquidation considered Pedro, after all, we are keeping the phoenix company alive but only because it suits our current agenda………’ha ha ha, currant (sic) agenda, nice one, need to remember that for next year’s AGM’ thought Pedro as he selected the biggest chair at the table of thirteen in preparation for his guests arriving at the secret soiree of the year…………

    HT,

I’ve been posting off and on for a few weeks now.

As regards your question, I think you know what I mean, as we have discussed it before.

I mean that the reps of any/all Celtic groups, which represent a number of supporters, particularly those able to attend matches,e.g, the CSA, the AICSC and the CT, to make approaches to similar groups from other clubs.

The corruption affects all clubs, so there is common ground between all supporters.

    As for the targets,

The SFA/SPFL are the targets and the clubs are the weapons of choice.

I think a statement of intent, similar to what stopped the last stitch up, would let ALL of our clubs know how serious we felt about the crooked game.

We can’t leave it just to others.

From the very beginning of this mess, I have stated that there are only two options for Celtic, if they are not seen to be complicit.

    Belfast Celtic or Derry City.

Neither is a practical option for us, so the club don’t have the nuclear option; but the supporters have.

If you have read back on my posts, you would have read where I said that the game now is akin to a pre season tourney, meaningless, but with a trophy thrown in for the winner.

    PS.

I was glad to read your response to Auldheid, when he posed a similar question ,re collaboration. You said you would bring it up at your next meeting.

What I suggest may not be easy, but, if successful, than you would know that you had actually played a major part in saving Scottish Football.

Transfer policy at Paradise will be in stages. Remember Peter Houston saying he drove over Europe watching football games for Celtic. Who would he report to Park probably. Then a dossier on the players. Complex procedure before manager gets to know about the player.

  9. A fiver for your thoughts on

Still lurking after all these years

Disappointed that Celtic supporters trash their club in public despite both financial and on the park performance which is far in excess of any rival in Scottish football while operating within a challenging economic climate and the biased constraints of Scottish football

Pissed off that fellow supporters can’t see that Ronny’s appointment and methodology will assure both medium and long term that Celtic are traveling in the right direction to ensure that we are a modern club fit for purpose – no patience

Cannot understand anyone worrying even slightly about the return of Sevco – a basket case club teetering on the abyss of oblivion, if they survive they will be consigned to mediocrity for many years to come

Cannot understand supporters baiting our board to make political and religious press statements – we are a football club not a political organisation

Cannot understand why some supporters still cling to the “speculate to accumulate” scenario, Dermot has zillions why doesn’t he spend it? We have a loan facility why don’t we utilize it?

Playing faster and fitter is not an overnight transformation

Ask a middle distance runner aged 20 – 24 how long it takes to increase basis fitness and add in the time spent on ball skills and teamwork – it takes years, the philosophy that Ronny has initiated will take several years to bear fruit but it will be worthwhile, same as introducing a new playing system, how many times in the past have you watched a Scottish International player and been able to remark that he was the most athletic, skillful player on the park?

Probably Lisbon but times change and Scottish youth didn’t keep pace with other nations – but at least we are changing, addressing the deficiencies in past coaching and recruitment and showing the way for other Scottish clubs, but it takes time

The overwhelming majority of the blog seem desperate for Champions League success from a position that is akin to Albion Rovers winning the SPFL

    I don’t expect any response

    Going back to Lurking

Not sure how I discovered it, but it is from Jim Craig’s work on our history.

Anyways, it turns out after Celtic won the 1921-22 season, closely from Rangers in second place, the Board decided to build on that success…….by sacking the reserve team and entering the next season with seventeen players. Downsizing indeed! We only won one more title, (1925-6) in that decade, Rangers went onto win every other one. Other factors played their part in those days, as they do now, but I think It shows what can happen when the Board acts in its’own interest rather than that of the team, the club and the support.

Apologies I don’t tend to read back these days but I had indeed seen one post from you.

You’re correct about the common ground. The scandal and cheating at Rangers affected all of us, clubs and supporters alike. However, the difficulty that I can see is getting supporters from all clubs, not just to sing from the same song sheet, but to actually sing the same song.

The only experience that I have of such a scenario is through FAC. Predominantly football supporters in Scotland saw the organisation as a largely Celtic focussed group despite fans from a number of other clubs falling foul of the legislation. This has been ongoing since 2012 yet it is only recently that there has been some ‘singing of the same song’ which was evidenced at Hamilton v Celtic and Motherwell v Celtic.

Now several other clubs’ fans have been affected by this law but in spite of repeated attempts by FAC to engage with them, there has been nothing in response.

When you talk about a statement what exactly do you mean?

Do you mean a published declaration of intent or something more extreme such as a boycott?

And again what would expect or hope for it to achieve?

I’m genuinely interested because I had a long conversation with friends on Saturday night after the game about this very issue.

Yes I will bring it up at the next Trust meeting that’s partially why I’m interested in what supporters think.

  16. There is a common desire within the ranks of most of scottish football, { the support } bar the hun, that a total clear out of the sfa is needed.

It must be worth contacting those who run their respective supporters clubs to see how the land lies, an e mail here and there costs nothing but a little time.

  20. By the way, is everybody on-board for league reconstruction.

It’s a certainty, regardless of how these court cases go. Was told today – no SPL next season, no Huns evermore. And the SFa have been told as well. The Zombies are now clinging onto Sky promises of upfront ‘funding’ as long as they get ‘Old Firm’ fixtures before the end of 2016.

A good source, well placed financially.

  21. The new edition of The Celtic View will be out soon to keep some guys happy. If you think we are running like a Swiss watch, and all is good on and off the park, enjoy. If others don’t,we have the right to that opinion.Debate and constructive criticism is healthy, switching off to other viewpoints ,which may critisise Celtic players, management or the Board, does not make you a Hun/green Hun,or any less of a supporter from anyone else.

THE EXILED TIM. I would like to believe you are correct about supporters of other clubs.I myself have seen very little sign of other clubs supporters being interested in the goings on over at Ibrokes that may of course be because there is no central leadership.Howeverif we dont do anything I believe Scottish football will lose thousands of fans I also believe the SPL and the SFA must be cleaned out. 23. Donald Trump is a nasty piece of work and God help the world if he is elected President. However, I don’t believe he should be banned from entering the country. A public demonstration when he next visits Scotland should let him know how we feel. Salmond, and the other Trump apologists, should be holding their heads in shame now.

  24. Good evening Ghuys:

My dear Mum will be 75 on the 11th March this year. Whilst she loves the Hoops she ain’t been to a game since late 50s early 60s. For two reasons, my Dad God rest him wasn’t really in to football but he did love the Hoops as well. The second she had six of us to bring starting with me in 62, the others who arrived in 63, 64, 65, 72 and 74.

Anyway I know she would love to do the Hospitality Match Day experience. Had a wee look on the official site, note prices range from £80 to £240. Just wondering if any of you have any experience or recommendations. The 11th March falls around LC Final on 13th so that’s out as it is not at CP. Nearest games are Inverness Caley, 20th February or Hearts 2nd April.

Any thoughts would be appreciated if you want to e-mail me lennybhoycfc@gmail.com

    “SETTINGFREETHEBEARS

The latter paragraphs of your post clearly imply that he did.

    He didn’t.

As such,he has no need to distance himself from it.

You often accuse other posters of ‘putting words in your mouth’ which you haven’t said.

The latter paragraphs of that post were doing exactly that. Whether directly or by implication,it declared MACJAY racist/ Islamophobic.”

If I were to “declare” that Macjay was racist or Islamophobic it would be obvious (a declaration) and not an implication or, in this case, an inference from yourself.

Why, I felt Macjay had to be careful to distance himself from the sectarian and racist viewpoints of the “absent posters” who were, merely “daring to suggest there was a religious aspect to events round the globe” is that they were carefully chosen weasel words which excused what these posters had done and how they offended.

In actual fact, only Kojo (and to alesser extent, the infrequent Chris Torey), had absented for “daring” so. Other posters- such as 16 Roads- continue to make that same conflated point today. I do not like to see comfort being offered to any sectarian, racist or Islamophobic tendencies and I felt Macjay was in danger of giving comfort via those words.

The events in Cologne, Hamburg and elsewhere should not be put into the same large prejudiced box as the atrocities committed by ISIS. There was no “religious” element to those rapes, assaults and robberies. The people committing them were described as a large group of North African appearance and drunk. Does that sound like it had a religious intent?

I have never called anyone out for having fears about being overwhelmed by immigration, or condemning ISIS or Al Qaeda or any other medievalist brutes. But those who try to say their religion is at fault, ignore the fact that most victims of their atrocities are of the Islamic faith too and that there are many many many times more people of the Islamic faith who are opposed to all these manifestations of evil, whether it is medievalist terror or sexual assault & robbery ( remember British Moslems were being, quite rightly, criticised for trying to patrol streets to restrict prostitution activities). Do you really believe that the same religion is sponsoring the activity of sexual assault and robbery for profit?

Enoch Powell was never an overt racist- he would have rejected the term. But he was careful never to distance himself from the worst activities of so-called Powellites and the NF. Once we get into the business of condemning a whole religion, whether Islam or Protestantism o Catholicism, we are already stereotyping and being sectarian.

Islamists are not to be tainted by these activities any more than Christians should be by Anders Breivik
