AJER BID STEPPED UP

CELTIC are bracing themselves for an improved £12million bid from Norwich City for Kristoffer Ajer.

The newly-promoted Premier League club have already had a £10million offer knocked back for the Norwegian international, but they are ready to test the Hoops hierarchy’s resolve with an enhanced submission, according to a report in the Daily Record.

Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen, who paid £11.8million for Dutch right-back Jeremie Frimpong in January, were also out of luck last week in a move for the versatile 23-year-old defender.

The Parkhead side, with a Champions League second round qualifier against FC Midtjylland fast approaching this month, are in no rush to part with the centre-back who has one year left on his contract.

Ajer, who was signed by his fellow-countryman Ronny Deila from FK Start for a bargain £650,000 in 2016, has already stated his attention to quit the Glasgow giants this summer.
