Ajer can follow van Dijk to top

600

Kristoffer Ajer made clear to Norwegian media his intentions to leave Celtic this summer. “With one year left of my contract, that would be the best solution for me and my club.  Something is going to happen this summer.”

Kris made it clear to the club two years ago he would not sign a new contract and has stuck to plan since.  For me, he was our stand-out Player of the Year last season and compares to the very best central defenders we have seen in the modern era.

At 23, Kris is one year older than Virgil van Dijk when he joined Celtic in 2013.  I would be hard pressed to pick a more impressive season between Kris’ last season or Virgil’s first.  Virgil was better in the air but I have never seen a Celtic central defender break through the lines as safely or effectively as Kris.  Virgil tried this but was not in the same class.

Just as we knew Virgil could do better than Southampton, Kris can do better than the apparently-keen Newcastle.  Liverpool could do worse than pair them up next season, he will play for a top EPL team eventually.  I hope we keep him for the European qualifiers.

That was always the risk with the scenario.

If we put our game to bed the Hunettes had nothing to play for.

  4. Nobody seems to be asking WHY ?

Why is it proving so difficult for Celtic to attract a new manager?

Why are we not able to attract someone with a better pedigree than AP?

    This concerns me greatly .

I fear that part of the answer is that we will not be able to compete with Sevco’s spend IF they qualify for the CL group stages.

    But I welcome other suggestions.

  5. Rangers ladies tactics; kick the ball up the park, kick the opponent up in air. Lost a second goal due to karma after cynical foul.

Celtic ladies playing football with style and skill. Good to watch.

Unfortunately I’m forced to switch over to the Scotland game as there is no way Glasgow City will lose from this position.

Getting a manager in is easy – getting the right one is a different matter – can’t help 😨

  7. Cant believe anyone is surprised at a Hun team capitulating tae prevent us winning a title. Cast your minds back tae the final game of the 1982 season when we had tae lose our home game and the sheep win by a healthy score.

Cue half time we are 0-0 and the sheep 4 up at home tae deidco. It all came back tae bite them in the erse when the same sheep gubbed them in the SC Final.

Burchills daughter I wonder if she will do the wee baby steps before shooting like her da did :)

  9. Someone earlier saying that one of our ladies team players runs like James Forrest.

Surely ,he wouldn’t get away with that ?

    TONTINE TIM –

I remember a few years ago, having already clinched the league title, Celtic went to Tynecastle for the final day of the league campaign. Hearts were sitting second with Rangers a point behind in third. Rangers won their home game comfortably, while Hearts beat Celtic 2-0 to retain second spot and a UEFA Cup place. Rangers missed out on Europe and they went overboard with their accusations that Celtic gave Hearts the 3 points.

    Oh how we laughed.

For someone who has had C19 that’s a good round of golf.I would be thrilled with that score and i haven’t had C19 thank God.

Our Tuesday/Thursday golfers from the Irish Club average age about 70 one of them tested positive last week which was a big surprise.
