Ajer can follow van Dijk to top

600

Kristoffer Ajer made clear to Norwegian media his intentions to leave Celtic this summer. “With one year left of my contract, that would be the best solution for me and my club.  Something is going to happen this summer.”

Kris made it clear to the club two years ago he would not sign a new contract and has stuck to plan since.  For me, he was our stand-out Player of the Year last season and compares to the very best central defenders we have seen in the modern era.

At 23, Kris is one year older than Virgil van Dijk when he joined Celtic in 2013.  I would be hard pressed to pick a more impressive season between Kris’ last season or Virgil’s first.  Virgil was better in the air but I have never seen a Celtic central defender break through the lines as safely or effectively as Kris.  Virgil tried this but was not in the same class.

Just as we knew Virgil could do better than Southampton, Kris can do better than the apparently-keen Newcastle.  Liverpool could do worse than pair them up next season, he will play for a top EPL team eventually.  I hope we keep him for the European qualifiers.

  3. I cant recall watching a worse celtic team than last season, not because they had the worst player i have ever seen in a celtic top, but because there was no leadership, no team shape, no pace no pattern and no desire to play as part of a team, added to no supporters to watch.

Amost of the blame falls on celtic’s first team management and players because despite what we witness we were more than capable of winning the league. The money was spend and the best players were retained (mistake in hinsight).

Covid did not help our cause with lots of first team players missing 5 or so important games. Brown been player regardless of his clearly diminishing returns. But a manager publically going through want away players and players spitting the dummy out the pram cause they did not get their desired moves led to the shite show we watched.

Not sure the supporters can be blamed for much, but if there was any chance players would refocus the protest at celtic park following the cup exit did not help. I would suggest the ship had already sailed.

The board were slow to react to the situation and to stubborn/ arrogant to get things sorted quickly. Howe burned them, but again they allowed themselves to be put in that position. Poor communication has just added to annoyance of supporters.

    ……………

Looking forward to next season there is a chunk of work needing done, but it’s not all doom and gloom. The loan players have all left, jullian and forrest should be returning to the fold after lenthy layoffs and the need to play an under preforming brown is removed. Ralston and the griff will go too after showing very little this past season and the option on their contracts not being taken up.

It also looks like the want always will get away in ajer, ntcham, christie and eduard and we will get a chunk of change for them. Hendry and shved look like they will also be leaving following successful loans.

The combination above means the new manager should have a healthy transfer budget and wages to get the players in he wants and will need.

    Team for next season:

    GK

    1st choice Gk

Barkas (will not be the first players to struggle when moving to a new club, country. Let’s not write him off just yet)

    Bain

    Hazard (loan)

    Leftback

Boli (Imo loaning and exiling boli now seems harsh, yes he messed up but the book was thrown at him, compare and contrast how other teams dealt with players. He is easily our best attacking leftback and should be brought back into the fold).

    Taylor

    Montgomery (looks decent)

    Rightback

    1sr choice New rb

O’connor 20 (has 30 plus more games at senior level so should hopefully be able to push on and challenge for the rightback spot).

    Centeback

    1st choice leftsided centreback

    Jullian

Welsh, 21 (shown they can both perform in the scottish premier league).

    hjeti, 18 ( see welsh)

    midfield

    Soro

    McGregor

    Turnbull

Shaw (played in the english championship and has shown he have something)

Connoll (played in the english championship and has shown he have something)

Scott robertson (will return having tasted first team football in a competitive league).

New midfielder may be needed depending on dembele willingness to sign and pushing on.

    Left winger

    New 1st choice left winger

Micky Johnson (has a lot of injuries but when fully fit looks decent, need to push on).

    Right winger

    Forrest

Dembele (needs good pre-season and break through season).

New winger may be needed depending on dembele willingness to sign and pushing on.

    Centre forward

Ajeti (needs to show early season form to have chance of being no.1 forward)

Bayo (has again shown in france that he is not shy of work and he knows the way to goal. Providing the correct service and he will do us a turn).

    New 1st choice striker needed.

No wonder Neil Lennon highlights this “new breed”of “joyless” supporters. We all know where they are – the GB, Celtic Trust and all the other political factions who use the good name of Celtic as a platform. Oh for the days when we were all just Celtic supporters.

I thought nothing could ever dilute my total Celtic love affair that started when I first headed for Celtic Park at the age of eight….however I have nothing personally in common with some of these people. Their behaviour and outlook on life is completely foreign to me. I feel less Celtic with them around me

    ……..

Funnily enough, those same people probably feel the same way about YOU ?

You are HILARIOUS…..keep em coming !

    ‘A new breed of supporters.’

    He’s actually quite right.

Supporters who won’t blindly follow the Board/Management and fall for all the spin. Supporters who want to see the club and team run properly while shelving out a fortune for STs, only to watch a delayed feed. Supporters who could do nothing about Lennon’s appointment or foreseen ineptitude. Supporters who watched, amazed, as Lawwell fucked up potentially superb signings. Supporters whom the Board never backed against government and police bullying tactics. Supporters who can smell the coffee and realise that there is absolutely zero connection between them and the Tory, privileged ‘running’ (or ruining) our club.

Aye, damn tooting a ‘new breed of supporters’.

Pity some of the ‘new breed’ don’t have a say in running Celtic.

  8. If Neil Lennon wants to blame the supporters, imagine if they had actually been allowed to attend.

Then he might have had some cover for his excuse.

  9. Shocking stuff from NL.

Shocking lack of… Anything, from the club.

We really are a mess and any professional coming in can see that.

Contrary to many opinions. He spoke fondly of all times at celtic. Stayed extra two years because of jock. First loyalty to him. Then loyalty to the club after the accident.

He continually returns to this bogus ‘you’ve never walked a mile in Lawwell’s shoes’ argument. Don’t know which mugs he thinks are falling for it.

Instead the lumpen proles should just roll up, hand over the little cash they have to the adults in the room, sit back and be grateful for what they’re given.

Anyone who knows the history of Celtic knows its values are best embodied by the multi-millionaires (like Lenny with his 28 investment properties) and PLC sharks, not your average working Joe.

  20. Loneliness can create attention seeking and I think we should be mindful alot of what is read here is from lonely people craving attention.

If you are online, anywhere, complaining, consistently day in day out about anything even including Celtic and the f%$%ed up season, you are opening yourself to mental health challenges.

    It really isn’t healthy.

    Delusions of Grandeur

    Examples of grandiosity include:

    Exaggerating your own achievements

Criticizing and dismissing other’s achievements or talents

Constantly boasting and talking about yourself

Believing yourself to be infallible or invulnerable

Believing that you are more intelligent than others

Thinking that common rules don’t apply to you

    Acting selfishly

Treating others with disdain or contempt

Not caring if you hurt someone with your actions

Being quick to anger if you are challenged

Being unable to see how your behavior affects others

Being unable to see how unrealistic your beliefs and actions are.

  21. Also if you read the above, without me naming anyone and you take offence, then you are showing some of the signs ie believing everything is about you.
