Ajer, Imperious form, Accies

109

It’s ‘only’ Hamilton Accies at home, but Accies have already won at Easter Road and Ibrox this season. Saturday’s reversal to St Johnstone was against the balance of play and their only defeat in seven. They are a team on better form than the Kilmarnock, St Johnstone and Hibs sides who took points from Celtic Park this season were.

We have more than enough in the locker to win this comfortably, but confidence has seldom been higher at Accies, who will have a go. Whatever weaknesses Martin Canning saw in Celtic at Hibs on Sunday, I don’t expect them to materialise tonight, though.

Celtic’s form has been imperious for years. There have been occasional dips, like the current run of one win in four games, but you need to go back to September 2014, when Ronny Deila was finding his feet, since there was a period with only one win in five. It’s not going to happen tonight.

Most of all, I want to see Celtic move the ball out from the back better than they have recently. Kris Ajer performed this task very well in the recent mauling of Motherwell, he should start again.

US and Canadian Celtic fans

Foundation plate

Our good pal, RWE, has commissioned car number plates bearing the Foundation logo, which are available on eBay for a bargain $15.99. These can be displayed on the front of vehicles in many US and Canadian states and territories. All proceeds go to the Celtic Foundation.

I love hearing about initiatives like this. Fans who just get off their bums and ‘do something Celtic’. If you are new around these parts, you can read a wee bit more about RWE on the official site here.

Would love both teams in green and white to get three points.

totally agree about Ajer. When teams press up on our back line (as so many do now) Ajer is the one defender who can break through the press and exploit the space beyond it. It makes such a refreshing change from the square and back passes in our final third.

  4. Imatim: Sincere condolences to you and yours on the sad death of your mother, Agnes.

It comes down to our poor conversion of chances and ratio of dominance to goals scored. Although ,to be fair, we are up against a fleet of parked buses in the SPFL. Doesn’t help the nerves though.

Not the word I would have chosen.

Too hunish in its connotations and associations.

No, I remembered big Ian, but he didn’t fall into either of my ‘foul’/ ‘flair’ categories!

The long-throw was an assist for the winner in the replay against Leeds, David Webb header? Now that was a ‘towsy’ game!

  10. We miss Paddy….in tight games he gave full backs a torrid time scored goals and gave us plenty of excitement…I miss Paddy

Looking forward to a quick start tonight…a few changes and a comfortable victory

A sad loss at any time but even harder around the Christmas period.

Sincere Condolences & May Agnes Rest in Peace,

  12. Morning all,

I always wondered why Celtic didn’t sell number plates here in the US. Florida, where I live, is one of those states that does not require a front number plate so I had a Celtic plate made which has been adorning my truck for the last couple of years. I just bought the Celtic Foundation plate which will be replacing my old one…a little Christmas present to myself :)

    Well done to all.

    Hail Hail

I’ve always had a soft spot for Wimbledon, when I moved down to London in 89 they were the local team.

A few years later,I worked with maybe the best salesman I’ve ever met-I was a print production controller trying to match the orders he was bringing in.

Ivor Heller,he was called,as funny as he was pint-sized. And his lass was a Tim!

When his club became Franchise FC,he was the prime mover in the new start. Now this, and I’m so pleased for him and all the Wombles I met over the years.

  19. I’ve seen a few comments about a quick start tonight, I can’t remember the last time that happened, we used to batter teams in the 1st 20 minutes but now we concentrate on keeping possession and tiring teams out.

  20. Does anyone know if we scout our opponents in spl?

We seem pretty much to stick to our own game plan.

  21. talking about hamilton. i failed my electrical engineering exam. in hamilton technical college in 1968 .wonder if its still there.
