Ajer, Imperious form, Accies

109

It’s ‘only’ Hamilton Accies at home, but Accies have already won at Easter Road and Ibrox this season. Saturday’s reversal to St Johnstone was against the balance of play and their only defeat in seven. They are a team on better form than the Kilmarnock, St Johnstone and Hibs sides who took points from Celtic Park this season were.

We have more than enough in the locker to win this comfortably, but confidence has seldom been higher at Accies, who will have a go. Whatever weaknesses Martin Canning saw in Celtic at Hibs on Sunday, I don’t expect them to materialise tonight, though.

Celtic’s form has been imperious for years. There have been occasional dips, like the current run of one win in four games, but you need to go back to September 2014, when Ronny Deila was finding his feet, since there was a period with only one win in five. It’s not going to happen tonight.

Most of all, I want to see Celtic move the ball out from the back better than they have recently. Kris Ajer performed this task very well in the recent mauling of Motherwell, he should start again.

US and Canadian Celtic fans

Foundation plate

Our good pal, RWE, has commissioned car number plates bearing the Foundation logo, which are available on eBay for a bargain $15.99. These can be displayed on the front of vehicles in many US and Canadian states and territories. All proceeds go to the Celtic Foundation.

I love hearing about initiatives like this. Fans who just get off their bums and ‘do something Celtic’. If you are new around these parts, you can read a wee bit more about RWE on the official site here.

I know CQN and Peaky Blinders for me, they must get a fee every time they are on radio/TV, times being hard like.

Looking forward to the game tonight. Unusually on Sunday, Celtic lost momentum let in the game and looked a tad tired. Understandable after a tough midweek game.

However, the game should have been done and dusted by then. We are creating enough chances but not converting them. On more than 1 occasion on Sunday a player attempted a shot when a square ball across the front of goal would have set up a team mate for an easy tap in. I can understand our front players wanting to score goals, but the team is more important than personal totals.

Even with a few changes tonight we should still be much stronger than Hamilton and hopefully we can kill this one off before half time – that means at least 3 goals to the good.

One of the Sevco forums are even taking about the impact of them beating Hibs in Edinburgh and Hamilton beating us at home and the impact that will have – a realistic Championship race. I don’t think so!

Let’s go out and do a thoroughly professional job and take care of Hamilton with a good few goals. What happens in Leith will be inconsequential!

  6. Good evening, friends.

I joined in a debate on this hallowed site last weekend about the possibility that our ever extending unbeaten run was bringing with it a degree of unneeded pressure. And whilst I clearly said that I’d never wish for anything other than a Celtic win, had we lost to Hibs I suggested it shouldn’t be regarded as particularly disappointing.

    However……

Having read various articles since the weekend highlighting various things such as ‘the rainjurs* are comin…’ or even our own record since we last played that mob (5 wins out of 9?) then I’ve completely changed my mind. 6 games to go in 2017 and I want and almost expect us to pick up at least 16 points. Think we will play well tonight and win comfortably. To start this final run of games as we head towards 74 unbeaten by 31 December.

    So there.

No, I remembered big Ian, but he didn’t fall into either of my ‘foul’/ ‘flair’ categories!

The long-throw was an assist for the winner in the replay against Leeds, David Webb header? Now that was a ‘towsy’ game!

*Eddie Gray gave Webb a torrid time in the first game and he joked about wearing bovver boots for the replay, however, it was bomber harris who crocked Eddie.

Hello this is WEE BGFC. Evening Timland! Must say I’m a tad nervous tonight. As Paul says Hamilton are in great form. A win tonight is very important for the team’s confidence. We need as much confidence as we can get with all these games coming up and with the new huns getting a wee run of luck. So hopefully a wee win tonight for a good December! ‘Mon the HOOPS!

  13. Mon the Hoops. Enjoy the game tonight to anyone going to Paradise. Young Edouard seems to be Brendan’s first choice striker at the moment. Leigh must be chomping at the bit for game time.

  14. I’m scratching my head at that team.

    Is that a 3 4 3 formation,

Can’t understand how Armstrong deserves to start & Griff doesn’t.

I have little doubt that Armstrong will now go on & have a blinder.

Thought KT has been looking jaded recently but what’s happening with Calvin Miller.

Had one outing & did really well & since has disappeared from radar.

As one who has been advocating squad rotation, I can’t complain but why the hell do I have a knot in my stomach.

  15. The griff can’t really complain because Eddie did score a hat trick last time out in league at Celtic Park against a similar team
