AJER UNDER SCRUTINY

KRISTOFFER AJER was watched by Newcastle United spies yesterday as he edged closer to the Celtic exit.

The Norwegian defender is heading out of the club in the summer, despite having a year still to run on his contract.

The 23-year-old skyscraper centre-back failed to impress in the 4-1 collapse and drew some withering criticism from ex-Hoops goal hero Chris Sutton, as CQN reported.

The Tyneside outfit are clinging on to their Premier League status and lost 2-0 against Arsenal at St James’s Park yesterday a couple of hours after Ajer and Co had been turned over in Govan.

They are desperate to rebuild for the new campaign and the towering Celt has been on their monitor for months, according to the Scottish Sun.

Newly-promoted Norwich City have also watched the versatile international performer whose form has been erratic during a disappointing campaign for the fallen champions.

Ajer, Odsonne Edouard and Ryan Christie, whose contract expires at the tun of the year, will all be on the move in the summer during the massive revamp.
