Ajer will continue to develop for years

360

Delighted Kris Ajer has been secured on a new 4-year contract.  The player is fast, good on the deck, and at an enormous 6’ 5”, is amply tooled in the air.  At 20 years and one month old, developmentally, he is years ‘ahead of the curve’ to borrow a phrase I enjoy.

It is fundamental to the way we play football to have central defenders who can control the ball, pass, and carry it into space.  These attributes are even more important that what we regard as traditional central defensive duties.

He will continue to improve for years and has found the perfect environment to develop in.

I dont think Arfield is a world beater …. but, I never take anything for granted ….

As I have said, I think they are a better squad than they showed this year … a decent coach and a few decent signings and they could have run us a lot closer this season …. (seven goalless home games isn’t usually going to win too many championships)

Wonder what he is on for wages….

I heard they are interested in McShagger and McBurnie …

still cant see where they are getting their money from …

  3. Tongue in cheek there. I suppose we can’t call them out for all their sh’t and then condone equally offensive stuff.

logan, shinnie, naidive, levein; we are the establishment- the more enlightened of thems now know there is no resurrection stone and the future will not be good. All but the thick know that gerrard may work out but it will take a long time and a lot of money. All but the thick know they don’t have money and 6 million will not go far. In the meantime all they can do is logan, shinnie, naidive, levein.

    btw – 6 million won’t go far

  7. THE DOUBLE TREBLE – TAKE 2

I realised today that, once before, we had the chance of the double treble. In season 1969-70 we won the league comfortable by 12 points. When the Scottish Cup final came around on 11 April we still had 1 league game to play. But the league was already won. I was only 7 years old when my 26 year-old brother took me to my first Scottish Cup final. Standing in a crowd of 108,434 I remember crying when Aberdeen beat us 3-1.

4 days later we were back at Hampden for a much more memorable occasion, beating Leeds Utd 2-1. And yes that was my first European semi-final ;-) A crowd of 136,505 were here.

What a stat that is – 244,939 through the turnstiles for 2 games just 4 days apart!

I hope you are right about me overestimating the zombies… put it down to an occupational hazard.

I’d always rather overestimate the enemy, over prepare and win … than underestimate the opposition and lose.

From your posts, you seem to be back to your old self again … nice to see. Really glad you are feeling better.

Add him to the list DB – who promoted this attitude to brown – Levein : a once promising/going somewhere scottish figure – now peripheral, at best, so he’ll have a go at a Celtic player ‘cos it’s all he’s got and he knows it might give him some traction.

  13. Can any lurking Huns clarify what you’re offended by in that two-syllable jibe?

Is it a problem that you’re Huns and don’t like being called Scum?

Or are you Scum that object to being labelled Huns?

Personally, I see that banner as win-win…

  14. DELANEYS DUNKY, garry was at that game as well, cant remember seeing you smiley thing.hh.

    Jobo. 7.49.

Also in that period we won 10 trophies out of 12.

Losing to Dunfermline in 1968 in the 3rd round of the Scottish Cup and the Aberdeen game that you mention.

Hopefully we will achieve double treble and then Brendan can set next target, which for me would be to try and beat 10 out of 12.

It would be difficult but worth aiming for.

  20. 6 million or bust

The only factor that will improve them from this year will be coaching & fitness leading to unity.

There’s still a few egos bouncing round their squad so humility and realism might be in short supply.

Man management is the often underated part of coaching.

BR seems to have that skill in abundance.

  21. DELANEYS DUNKY on 14TH MAY 2018 7:56 PM –

    Crowd 106,102.

All on Celtic FC site – go into Team > Fixtures > First team – and then change the ‘season’ to whichever one you want – the stats are available for every game.

Thanks pal. 106 thousand v Hibs is the biggest ever attendance I have been at in my life then. Was a week before my First Holy Communion and a month before my 7th birthday. Remember it well that month. Got a Celtic subbuteo team for my 7th birthday.
