CELTIC teenager Kristoffer Ajer has been praised by Development Squad boss Tommy McIntyre.

The versatile Norwegian played in the 2-1 win over Cowdenbeath in the Irn Bru Challenge Cup on Tuesday – just three days after facing Inter Milan.

Ajer went from a 2-0 defeat against the mighty Italians in the International Champions Cup in Limerick to Central Park in Fife to turn out for the Hoops youngsters who will now meet Livingston in the next round.

Coach McIntyre said: “Kristoffer came down and played, his attitude was first class.

“It’s another stage forward onto the next level and we are delighted to be in the competition.”

Ajer played in the middle of the defence against Inter, but was moved into the midfield against Cowden.

The 18-year-old signed a pre-contract with the Parkhead side in January and arrived from FK Start in the summer.

Celtic paid around £650,000 for the top prospect who has agreed a four-year deal.
