Not remotely surprised by reports from Germany that Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig are interested in Kristoffer Ajer. Kris was our standout player last season and comparable to Virgil van Dijk, when he was a 23-year-old at Celtic.
The money Leverkusen paid for Jeremie Frimpong was incredible for a player I wanted to replace this year; Kris is worth far more. Leipzig, however, are the more interesting club. They have one of the best scouting systems in Europe, if they are interested in Ajer it is an endorsement others will follow.
Note, it is not even a possibility he will stay at Celtic.

Sad news regarding Bertie Auld, hope he gets all the support needed 🍀
MARTIM1980 on 17TH JUNE 2021 5:16 PM
There are only three kinds of people. Those who can count and those who can`t.
Have real vivid memory of wee Bertie scoring 5 goals away to Airdrie in Jock Stein’s first game in charge even though I was still at primary school……………..packed ground, bright floodlights, the wee wendy hoose and the mobbed train journey home with sing songs aplenty as was the kerryoots.
Thoughts with you Bertie.
I , too, am sad to hear about Bertie`s illness. For many years now he has represented the very good side of Celtic.
Indeed sad news about wee Bertie. One of the finest players to wear the jersey.
God bless him and his loved ones at this trying time.

I , too, wanted `The Ten` but , as I have indicated before, two Nines is also pretty good but it has been overlooked on here ( and I don’t suppose the MSSM mentioned it very often either ! ).

Thats the great thing about the double 9 in a row, just to equalise, sevco will have to win the next 8 leagues titles on the bounce, thats not going to happen, and neither are they going to win a treble treble any time soon, let alone the fantastic QTRB. The bragging rights contest is a walkover – and thats why they keep going on about 55, its all they have, poor wee souls 🍀 🍀 🍀 🍀
Remember wee Bertie saying in one of his many TV chats that when they came back from the tour of the USA his neck was all covered in love bites, ‘mind you they were self inflicted’ says Bertie – a real legend.
Thats a bugger of a condition to afflict anyone, never mind such a smart, street-wise funny Celtica ambassador as Wee Bertie……….
…………thoughts are with him and his family.
On the subject of “good ” posters………sadly that definition has slipped and slipped and slipped…………
This Dear Green Place has been beset by wee sleekit weirdos, passive aggressive drunks, Jock Tamson pretenders and then then there were the huns………….
;)
The grass is not greener elsewhere as the brass-necked narcissistic nuggets find their own level having rubbished This Dear Green Place and now inhabit the fringes of a fractious Timdom.
Hell mend them.

Having run into Bertie just a few weeks back, I had some inclination that some elements of dementia were present.
He was being well chaperoned by friends and family in a supermarket cafe but, when they left him alone for two minutes to shop, Bertie was up and cahtting with all his fellow diners. It was hard to say that this was disinhibition behaviour since Bertie has always given time to the public. He was sharp and to the point in his verbal exchanges and responded appropriately to the response he got form preople- putting the shy at their ease and having the craic with those who were comfortable.
You could tell that he was relying on several well rehearsed anecdotes and questions but there was a naturalness about the chat and the openness of the man that was truly heartwarming.
I told the story of the encounter at the time without mentioning my dementia suspicions as it was a matter for the family to address and they now have. I would just warn that anyone expecting a much diminished man could be surprised. The life force in Bertie is huge and it will take a while to reduce him to the level of the rest of us.
I am glad he is still here even as his light dims slowly.
SFTB……..
Well said.

Good mhan.
Ajer is a huge talent. He deserves a move befitting of his potential. Not Newcastle.
Doubtless Celtic’s unsurpassed scouting system (RBL aside) will replace him with the ‘new Greg Taylor’.
The PLC is all about asset stripping and spite after all.
Cheers SFTB
What a sorry state we are in.
God bless Bertie Auld, a genuine Celtic legend.
I had the privilege of sitting at the dinner table with Bertie on a couple of occasions. He was brilliant. A million stories from his football days and every one better than the last. Never a dull moment
Best wishes to Bertie and his family
God bless ye Bertie
You are a fighter wee man.

Aye. Commentary team were murder.
Big Kris, good footballer, very quick and great at carrying the ball forward. Not great in the Scottish football air and actually not a great passer. Big Julien is the opposite, not too quick, decent in air and a good passer. Get a good price for Kris and bring in better defenders. Oh and bring them in quick, like next week.
Ange needs all the support he can get and the board better not fail.
Wee Bertie, what a character. Hope it doesn’t get too bad for him. Oh to see his like again.

1975 Scottish Cup Final. Celtic 3-1 Airdrie, attendance 75,457. Paul Wilson with a double and Pat McCluskey with Celtic’s goals, Kevin McCann had briefly equalised for the Diamonds. This was also Billy McNeill’s last ever match.

the other night there, one of those scotland programmes ,John Collins , Colin Hendry and Craig Burley all told their own versions of Bertie stories and claimed them as their own

Not so much Sports Direct but Players Direct
A Board that not only kept Neil Lennon in situ when it was patently obvious to the Man sitting upstairs on the Parkhead Tram that he had lost the plot, the team, the supporters and the league in no uncertain order, Pete Lawwell, realising that season ticket sales were hardly likely to match last season’s Video levels, cashed in on wee Frimpers, the most exciting young player in Scotland, albeit one suffering from the benefit of Neil’s “coaching”. Klimala shipped out despite Ajeti unable to hit a barn door, money in the bank more important than improving a young player. And now, with the financial year ending on June 30, big Kris will be ushered out the door before the CL qualifiers, for the first cash on the table offer. If there is interest now there will be interest at the end of July, but, and here’s the crucial part, that’s a new FY.

Remember it well. Also a cracking day weather-wise. Also remember big Billy springing it on everyone that it was his last game.
So sad news about Bertie. Another player with Brain issue I think most of the Lions were affected some way by this terrible illness
