Ajer’s German suitors

186

Not remotely surprised by reports from Germany that Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig are interested in Kristoffer Ajer.  Kris was our standout player last season and comparable to Virgil van Dijk, when he was a 23-year-old at Celtic.

The money Leverkusen paid for Jeremie Frimpong was incredible for a player I wanted to replace this year; Kris is worth far more.  Leipzig, however, are the more interesting club.  They have one of the best scouting systems in Europe, if they are interested in Ajer it is an endorsement others will follow.

Note, it is not even a possibility he will stay at Celtic.

  1. Agreed Uncke Jimmy, Hmmmmmm It’s almost as if without certain posters some folk would literally have nothing say…..

Anyway dilemas are Calmac needs a rest, however, I would like him and Turnbull to start tonight. Engurland have talent throughout their squad, we’ll need as much class as possible which, contrary to the pundits view isn’t always based in the EPL.

quick question, no doubt answered many times, why did Bairds bar close??

Visited many times but always puzzled as to why it closed. Many rumours of course.

    Anyone got the true version?.

‘Thank you for your response, but you obviously don’t understand what is going on with the DUP at the minute.’

    ###

The point is that no one knows what’s going on with the DUP at the moment, least of all themselves. But I doubt that whatever it is or however it pans out, will affect the support among the Unionists for a United Ireland, in the short term at least. Unionists who might have been wavering on the issue are more likely to hunker down, given the level of uncertainty.

Any border poll will be determined by fertility rates rather than anyone being won over politically.

‘As regards Ulster Scots being a real language, I guess you are up to something.’

You appear to be unwilling to agree that Ulster Scots is a real language, so you are. Why?

  5. As for Scotland tonight v Thatchers/Boris’s CULT MOB X1…I dont hold out much hope for the Scots as I think they MAY get GUBBED Big time ?

NOT because Boris’s Bruisers are that ” Good” …as they are one of the most BORING Mobs that ive seen in a long time, but they carry a lot of luck in most games…and Scotland ( sadly) can be rank rotten….not enough goals and poor defending most games ?

I would LOVE to see the Scots prove me wrong 100% !

Sterling to DIVE in the Scotland Box ?

  6. I can see how EL is attempting to set a trap regarding the status of Ulster Scots (I know most of you know where he is going with that one). I didn’t raise that question and indeed the simple fact is that the Language Act gave it respect as a language, so that is not a core issue.

Secondly, most observers here do know what is going on within the DUP and the current events are no big surprise to many.

So, enough political debate for today. Now it is about football. Is French Eddie’s agent trying to drive down Celtic’s asking price?

Major question of the day: will future Ballon d’ Or winner Billy “Billy”😉Gilmour be given a chance to save the nation?

Just a one off Post from me on Scottish Independence & the ongoing debate here

Catching up on yesterday’s posts, I was pleased to see your comments on the ongoing hijack of this site by the political insurgent(s).

Your contributions on this site were a beacon of sanity. Although politics affects us all, comments made on this site – day after day after day – will change no-one’s viewpoint. So, as another poster said, as you continue to lurk in the background, please keep posting on matters relating to Celtic. God knows, it’s not as if there nothing to talk about…

It seems the trick is in knowing which targets are the right (or acceptable) target to belittle, berate or bully. Some Celtic supporters are created more equal than others (least in their own minds); I’d always thought one of our club attributes were that we were a very ‘broad church’ (leaving the narrow path to the blue brigade!)

My relationship w/ national fitba got fractured around the time Jim Watt fought Sean O’Grady; sitting at a party in Paisley, all us secondary school celts rooting for O’Grady and the other school squad ready to start boxing with us for the temerity for even thinking so: Identity; labels; nationalism; politics-schmolitics. Childish pish. (Though Watt got away w mugging him btw).

Re the Euros, I’d still like Scotland to get a win but I just don’t hate England; don’t know enough of them to make an informed judgement. Football-wise they’ve always got better players than us. Like Celtic last year, their perennial challenge is playing well as a unit. I like the lad Grealish; a proper attacking entertainer if prone to theatrics even if regularly assaulted in full spate. Exciting stuff.

I predict: 3-1 to the southerners.

Never saw the howls of censorship when posts or posters appeared at election time to give their daily. political opinions.

Anyway, looking forward to the game tonight and can’t help being a 90 minute bigot.

Quad – yep. Were I a betting man I’d put money on 2-0/3-0/3-1 scorelines.

  15. Not only Corkcelt got it drastically wrong with Shane Duffy.

I’m still shaking my head in disbelief that a full, huge money internationalist, EPL regular and recent former Brighton player of the year, could be so hopeless.

He was dire and our coaching staff must partially shoulder the blame.

  16. prestonpans bhoys on

    So is French Eddie staying?

Not too bothered if the answer is yes and he goes for a free. Lets be honest the money put back in the team would be marginal in comparison to what ends up in the PLC pot😵😰😯

  17. Big Jimmy – I am the same realistically we should get pumped.

But just get intae them, on the front foot from the off and see where it takes us.

  20. Most certainly mind games and pressure from numerous area, in trying to drive Celtic asking price for Odsonne down

Read a quote from Leicester that Odsonne own personal terms were too high, so Veltic should lower asking price

    Aye nae bother Leicester 🤔

  21. No away supporters allowed at European away games.

But ok in Euros . Double standards

  22. Hoops stopper Tobi Oluwayemi signs new deal with Celtic…

Celtic Academy goalkeeper Tobi Oluwayemi has signed a two-year contracted extension that will see him remain at the club until at least the summer of 2024, Celtic have confirmed. The promising young stopper joined the club in February 2019 from Tottenham Hotspur’s Academy and has steadily developed in the Celtic Academy while playing for the Reserves.

  23. Yes some of the stories in the last few days.

    Ange already leaving for EPL.

Calmac alleged to be leaving…despite him talking about looking forward to working with new manager.

Lowball pricing for our sought after players hmmm if your sought after by more than one club then your price goes up.

Meanwhile the most skint new club in the world….nobody wants their players or they do but lets face it, if you know how skint they are- lowball bid city. They are also linked with many transfers, despite appearing to dilute shares just pay basic bills.

ScullyBhoy, nice to see us signing up youth talent. Colts team being bolstered?

Ange said yesterday youth players will get a chance, very pleasing😊🍀

Decent article peppered with hard numbers.

The government’s comparing apples with oranges response below (food and drink being seasonal) frankly looks like spin.

“The most recent ONS trade statistics show that for both March and April, overall exports to the EU have exceeded the average levels across 2020”

Scullybhoy – thank you for the updates re the two academy attendees.

    Very good research. Respect.

Indicative too that the academy is functioning, at least structurally.

That said (and largely based on my own ignorance) I have no idea what the pay off is that our club is pursuing here.

The strategy of “cross border raids” for teenage talent has been up and running for possibly 5 – 7 years now?

In that time I can’t recall a single promotion to the first team.

Frimpong maybe but he was slightly older and cost some serious dough.

  27. Prayers with Bertie Auld and his family. 🙏🍀

    The Angelus at 12pm. 🙏🍀

I don’t remember too much about Bertie Auld the player, though his name is permanently etched in my brain as the 10th member of an unforgettable Lisbon Lion list. What I remember more is Bertie Auld the Man who always makes me smile and puff out my chest with pride at the thought of being a fellow Celtic Supporter.

Bertie Auld is a living LEGEND who is someone who is absolutely deserving of this title; his name will always be revered with awe and with L❤️VE by the Celtic Support.

God Bless you Bertie, you will never walk alone! 😊 ❤️ 🍀

    Yours in Celtic,

    TB&F. 😊 🍀

  28. Will keep Bertie and family in my thoughts and prayers. What a legend! Met him on several occasions. The greatest moment of all was on the morning after the winning of the European Cup. Walking up the street to my hotel I encountered him and Willie Wallace walking back to the team hotel. A never to be forgotten moment that meeting with two Lisbon Lions.

Many years later I sat opposite him at a table during a dinner at a local Celtic Supporters Club. During his speech he informed the audience that he had played against some fierce Bs in his time but none of them had kicked him as hard as I had under the table.

On another occasion I asked him if his slight touch to Willie Wallace to score against Dukla Prague in the semi-final at Celtic Park was rehearsed before hand and he replied that Big Jock always had them try different plays in training.

What a great ghuy! Stay safe , Bertie and YNWA.
