Ajeti angst, avoid betting on Celtic

346

I should know better, but the SFA ban on Albian Ajeti was simulation at Rugby Park was as surprising as it was ridiculous.  Killie’s Colin Doyle, went to ground fully committed but was beaten to the ball by Albian.  The keeper clipped the Celtic striker’s heel when he was unable to make contact with the ball without going through Albian.

It is up to the match officials to decide if that was enough to merit a penalty but with contact made in this manner the player should not be punished for going down.  The officials got themselves into a mess for missing the first half penalty on Odsonne Edouard, just as the SFA got into a mess when judging the apparent good character of a player who committed a dangerous act.  We have weak football governance in this country, in case you didn’t notice.

Stephen Robinson resigned as Motherwell manager in the first days of the New Year after a form slump that ended with a 3-0 defeat to Hamilton.  Under new manager, Graham Alexander, the Fir Park side have lost only once (at Pittodrie) in five games, that includes one of the rare occasions Newco have dropped points this season.

There are no easy games for Celtic these days and tomorrow’s will be as challenging as last weekend’s visit of St Mirren.  We have the playing squad to record another comfortable victory, but I suggest you avoid betting on it.

  3. Interesting doc. on BBC Alba earlier, ‘So here I am ; 100 years of Crofting’; It is actually about forty years old in itself, and refers back in part, to the ‘Battle of the Braes’ on the Isle of Skye in the early 1880s when the Crofters, influenced and inspired by the Land League in Ireland, indeed some had went to Ireland just before, took direct action against the Factor, the rent collector. Police were drafted from Glasgow to break the rent strike. Oft mentioned on here before, Michael Davitt spoke in support of the Crofters in Portree just a few years later, from a hotel which is still there, though the balcony from which he addressed the crowd is not, or more accurately in support of the Gael. The result of these actions in Skye and elsewhere, was the Crofters Act of 1886. Our own Club is represented by no less than Brian Wilson, whose contribution, dismissed by actual Crofters of 40 years ago, appears to have been that the Crofts should be privatised and sold to the highest bidder. Early signs of New Labour there, and affront to the efforts of Davitt, from one who later became and still remains a Director of Celtic Football Club. Plus ca change.

“Reason I’m saying this is some guys on here wouldn’t be so antagonistic or rude if they sat down face to face and chatted.”

    So true.

  7. The last time I said : We DO have a game today, we didnt so I`ve just checked. We DO have a game! Doesn`t seem to be a lot of interest without Jobo to get things going.

I think Motherwell are in good form at the moment but I fully expect a victory….even though I think 0-4 flattered us during the week. Indeed, maybe that was a turning point in the season in terms of things starting to go for us.

  8. Morning! Don’t usually talk about politics! Buttttt!!😂😂 meanwhile, here in Scotia , 😂😂😂😂

Glad to see PM removed. Thought he was awful, but don’t see the replacement as any better.

McCulloch is another “Old Firm” apologist. Loved to have a go at Celtic supporters on Clyde who made any mention of them being a dead team. Promoted the “both sides as bad as each other” narrative. Prick.

I wonder what numbers the roulette wheel will pick today for our team.

Whoever it is let’s show some passion and heart and a decent performance like Tuesday.

But alas we have been here before, false Dawn’s ‘n’ all that.

Whatever happens we will still all be supporters of our club, maybe not the custodians or management team but the club.

    So COYBIG

  14. Glad Peter Martin has gone. Sent in a complaint during last home game as I was on audio only from Celtic tv there were large parts of the game when I had no idea what was happening due to his constant chattering nonsense. Secondly his obsession with the opponents; their next fixtures, stats on their players this on Celtic tv we don’t care about the opposition! Slightly better than Ruairi Hamilton gleefully telling us when clubs beat us, the poor run we’re on. Lastly the absolute silence on leg breaking fouls completely ignored and all and every free kick against us.

    Free the Tom Boyd one!

Enhanced presentation? You’re having a laugh.

  15. Seen an article on Der Hun where it stated they could not get rid of Brandon Barker in the window, because of his “Huge salary”!!!!!!!!!!

I can only assume that you were drunk when you watched the programme.

    Watch it again.

You’ve got Brian Wilson’s position completely arse about face.

Bizarre. Like you were a member of a brainwashed cult.

And the funny thing is that it was Brian Wilson who was largely responsible for the creation of BBC Alba.
