Alan Muir, what a performance, FAC, Nadir

394

There was no vandalism, pitch invasions or general misbehaviour at Fir Park on Saturday.  What we had instead was Motherwell and Celtic fans engaged in a collective protest against the Offensive behaviour’ Act.

Fans Against Criminalisation put the issue plainly:

“Every single mainstream opposition party in Scotland opposes this Act, as do many notable lawyers, sheriffs, political commentators and Celtic Football Club.

“We call on the Scottish Government to accept that this legislation has achieved nothing other than to criminalise ordinary football fans and to repeal it as a matter of urgency.

“The Scottish Government cannot reasonably expect football fans to meekly accept the harassment they face nor the attacks on their rights to freedom of speech.”

Delighted to see Nadir Ciftci grab a poacher’s goal on Saturday.  This is the kind of goal he should be scoring lots of.  Hopefully it’ll become a more regular occurrence.

Well done to referee Alan Muir for an outstanding performance on Saturday.  It takes a lot to turn in that kind of performance, don’t think it’s easy.  Put yourself in his shoes (with Motherwell facing different opponents, obviously).

Think of the pressure you would be under to give one or both of those penalties.  It can’t be easy to have watched Kieran Kennedy take the legs from Scott Brown, then dive to save the ball with his hand, and tell everyone that no offense took place.  Don’t underestimate how hard that was for Alan Muir.

HUNBELIEVABLE!!!! Was waiting to meet someone this morning, he was running late so in order to get a wee heat I stepped into one of Mr Hill’s establishments. As I was there I thought I should make a small investment and decided on a 4 timer.

Arrived home tonight and came across the slip so checked the results, three up but the fourth thwarted in a race one by a nag sporting the name ‘The Blue Sea of Ibrox’!

Like the little bhoy that will be left, in Scotland, that says daddy…….…..“ Can we go and see the Celtic? ”

Where would your particular Celtic story go from there?

Reading through your response to AW NAW I was struck by your comment that subject to whatever develops you could fall into the ” I’m out ” category.

That would be a real pity, and I trust it does not come to this, although I do understand and share your annoyance with the DD comments and those who seem to miss the ” Old Firm”.

For the avoidance of doubt I could not care less I ever see them again, however if we are affronted by their return, and if they are paired against Celtic, then I would have to be there to support my team, as I do irrespective of opposition or my attitude to them whoever they may be.

Logically not the best way to initiate change but old ( very ) habits die hard.

  7. Usual moans and groans about corruption in Scottish game and supine Celtic response to it.

    Simple answer to both problems.

Vote with your wallet and spell out to Celtic why.

DD will stop acting as shield for the corrupt when it starts costing him money.

  8. Guys is it Just me…..I’m finding the set up of CQN (viewed via iPhone) becoming tiresome. Navigation. finding the most recent post, etc. feels more difficult than before.

I’m finding myself dialling in less and less….!

  9. BSR –

I’ve a feeling that my own intended stance may not be too dissimilar to yours.

If the current version of Triggers Broom FC survive into next season then, given that they have come through the divisions on merit (ish) that in itself won’t stop me supporting my club. But if their arrival leads to any form of special recognition (e.g. extra increase in season book prices, extra seating allocations for games at Celtic Park, etc) then that may well cause me to rethink.

In those circumstances, even if I do renew, my own seat will remain empty for games against them as I have no wish to witness the orgy of hate that would no doubt permeate the air.

The one thing that would drive me away completely is any further bending of the rules to accommodate “any sort of Rangers” in the top division.

So world rugby bosses have come out and said referee got it wrong in Scotland defeat by awarding last minute penalty to Australia – it should have been a scrum instead upon review.

Over to you SFA / SPFL – what’s that – can’t hear you – against Lodge rules ??

Football administrators shown up by their rugby counterparts. Time to tear this ‘not fit for purpose’ organisation down and start again.

And copies of Paul Larkin’s book – Anyone but Celtic – should be sent to every member of SFA / SPFL hierarchy plus every chairman of every football club in Scotland.

Time for football clubs to stand up against the secrecy, silence and lack of transparency.

  11. Quonno,

DD will not loose anything, if the money drops then the dividend from his preferential shares might drop a bit but even when the club makes a loss he’ll get a dividend not to forget his £600K a year in perpetuity because of a loan the board will not pay off, in fact I think the condition of the loan was that it would not be paid back but provide an income of £600K a year in perpetuity.

The Celtic Board did nothing, so you can hardly be surprised by the Awe_ Naw_No’s given the ‘hunbelievable revelations’ since.

AS you know my son also has a seat and he says he’d go. My daughter gets to occasional games and was distraught to learn that I wouldn’t be prepared to s=give her my seat. It would have to remain empty.

    Well, that’s the current plan…

  15. I support Celtic for the sense of belonging, history and the schadenfreude I experience when I consider the current condition of mason purple coupons.

I support Celtic IN SPITE of billionaires, boards, huns, cheating refs, corrupt UEFA, five way agreements, Sky’s ruination of fair play, green Hunnish sense of entitlement etc etc.

I help an elderly uncle with his season ticket money, buy a tap noo and again, and occasionally buy a European ticket for a family member.

I support and follow Celtic because I enjoy it and life is too short.

If that makes me naive, or an eejit in embdaes eyes they can kiss my Ayrshire Tim’s erchie.

  16. It pains me to write this but I have been thinking over the suggestion that our chief shareholder is actively working towards the deid team in some shape or form being brought back to the Premier League next season. If this proved and it happens, in spite of their utter shambles, I will not be renewing my season book. It would be a total sickener.

I have always let myself believe he has said what he has said about the deid team to avoid any Celtic minded person getting grief but his actively aiding and abetting them is just too bad to contemplate.

If and it’s a big if , the game of rugby is so honourable and just then when we wake tomorrow morning the Aussies will have relinquished their place the semi final and the scots will take their rightful place in the last 4.

But just like the football the scots will be urinated on from high above.

Steve Evans: Leeds appoint new boss as Massimo Cellino banned

Leeds United have appointed Steve Evans as their new head coach, replacing the sacked Uwe Rosler.

Evans, 52, who has signed a rolling contract until 30 June, is Leeds’ sixth head coach since Massimo Cellino took over the club in April 2014.

Rosler, 46, was sacked on Monday after just 12 games in charge with Leeds 18th in the Championship.

Meanwhile, Cellino has been banned from running the club by the Football League for the second time in a year.

Cellino was found guilty of an offence under Italian tax legislation relating to the non-payment of VAT on the importation of a Land Rover vehicle, leading him to be disqualified under the owners’ and directors’ test.

The Italian has until 28 October to appeal against the decision.

He was banned by the Football League in December after they obtained documents from an Italian court, which had found Cellino guilty of tax evasion in relation to his failing to pay import duty on a yacht.

The former Cagliari owner returned to the club’s board in May after having his initial ban extended from 10 April to 3 May

If Celtic thinks tbat there is nothing to be done in cleaning up tbe game for tbe benefit of the hun then tbe can GTF. If tbey value the bigot pound more than mine and to hell with the good fight tbat our ancestors fought they can GTF.
