Alarming rise in tensions ahead of Sunday’s game

277

One day this week Strathclyde Police officers will have visited Lennoxtown and Murray Park and reminded players and officials the consequences their actions can have before during and after Sundays Celtic-Rangers game.

Our streets are dangerous on these weekends, best avoided, always avoided by me.  You know it, I know it, people who have worked in the game for the last 40-odd years know it.

At a media conference at Ibrox today, Sandy Jardine said:

“Having gone round and met a lot of the supporters and people within the club, I think people are absolutely sick and tired of everybody having a kick at us when we’re down.

“Out of that, the supporters will take sanctions against clubs which we deem have been unfair to ourselves.

“I’m not going to go into the actual details but we will probably announce that after the meeting with the supporters clubs.

“Everybody is sick and tired of just accepting everything that everybody is throwing at us and it’s about starting to fight back.

“The size of our club and the size of our supporter base, it can be a powerful weapon.

“Everybody having a kick at us”.   “Supporters will take sanctions”.  “It’s about starting to fight back”.

Watch yourself at the weekend.  After the game, go home and stay there.  Talk about kicking and fighting three days before the game does not bode well.

  1. I’m not long back from my first ever visit to Malta & Gozo. What a wonderful place. Going back soon as.

    On that note,goodnight & HH!

  2. Coal fires…

When you’re big enough to go round the back and fill the coal scuttle, then it’s your job forever.

But the airport kindly fitted secondary double glazing, which meant the second back door opened outwards into the tunnel of wind.

So on windy nights we ventured round the house alone in the darkness.

Approaching the coal bunker…. The wind singing in the trees…

Then sticking the shovel into a black opening, hoping for coal, but fearing the worst.

Back round again with the booty, the trees laughin at a 12 year old boy.

    Then the good bit.

    I was the fire starter.

    Smelly fire lighters.

    Twisted bits of newspaper.

    Then the quick coal.

    Then the anthracite.

Ventilate…. Watch it as it becomes a furnace…

    Reduce the air….

    Watch it…

    Happy…

    Twelve years old.

Sorry Paul, but that’s not the way to deal with them at all.

Running away from them, just emboldens their actions and actually lead to further increased levels of appalling behaviour.

When they beat that Lambeg it’s best to let them know that appeasement isn’t on the cards.

  7. While I have some admiration for the bravehearts among us who seem to think that prudence is akin to cowardice, I am going to urge anybody going to Sunday’s hopefully last ever re-enactment of the skirmish at the Boyne, to think of the possible outcome of being foolhardy & reckless. Cutting out as many of the situations which could put ourselves or others at any physical risk is not being a wimp.

    It is simple common sense.

Get there, enjoy the game & then get yourself back to the safety of your own familiar environs.

We will not be dealing with rational, sentient human beings.

We will be dealing with a hate-filled, psychopathic & desperate horde, who WILL be looking for unsuspecting victims.

Their is no nobility or honour in confronting such madness.

    Avoid them if humanly possible.

In the same way that we would not confront a rabid dog,.. just miss them out.

There is NOTHING to be gained by becoming involved.

I hope not one of us, or indeed of them, ends up crippled or worse from what is guaranteed to be a dangerous event.

    GET HOME SAFE.

I had hoped McCoist had matured somewhat when I posted this in Mid April.

Rather sad that his journey to maturity will require him to learn from his massive error of judgement. Us Tims seem to be choc a bloc with leaders and the Bluenoses appear to have none.

    From 14 April

On the question of what would be an acceptable outcome (and I know the following will be viewed as highly unlikely) if I were advising Rangers I would be saying this to Alistair McCoist.

Alistair, tell D&P and CW that the party is over. Tell them it is time to stop struggling to hang on. Tell them it is time to let go.

As a rallying point you have the opportunity to lead Rangers forward by accepting what Scotland is telling you, that what Rangers have done is a betrayal of the game we all love,no one more than yourself.

No one meant it to become a betrayal, but it has.

    Accept this.

Liquidate the club, pay off the creditors as best can be done under the insolvency rules and apply to start again at the bottom of the senior professional game. You will come back.

If you can allocate even a small percentage of income to keep paying legacy creditors, do so. It is a small sign of integrity, but the watching world needs some sign.

This Alistair is the decent thing to do and those supporters who stick with New Rangers will be the decent Rangers support.

They will be the ones on whom you can build a future. They are the kind of people that the rest of football can start to build a degree of trust with, because they will have acted with honour and, dare I say it dignity.

Such a move will transform Ranger’s situation as well as our game and if you really love and value it, you will take the step sadly, but knowing you are laying the foundations of a new Rangers that all Scotland can start to trust. Without trust as a foundation there is no future.

It will be difficult medicine to swallow but as Gibran says

“It is the bitter potion by which the physician within you heals your sick self.”

It is the only way back and the only way forward.

    Auld Heid:

As you, myself and BRTH have all posted tonight, and at times past, a moral man would have done this, would have taken the club down a new path. He had a chance almost unprecedented in their history, to cleanse them of the filth.

He has chosen, instead, to immerse himself in it.

By his choices, let him be judged forevermore. If history is written by the winners it is all the more imperative we be in the winners enclosure, so that those who follow us can look back and know that the chance to make Rangers into something which would actually have been worth saving was tossed aside like an empty beer can, by people too drunk on their superiority complex to see the writing on the wall. He hoped by speaking out he could force the hands of those in power, to move to save them.

Instead, he inadvertently kicked away the chair.

Revealed: Rock band Biffy Clyro have Irn-Bru flown out to Los Angeles

Apr 24 2012 By John Dingwall

YOU can take the boys out of Scotland… but you can’t take Scotland out of the boys.

Rockers Biffy Clyro had one big problem with recording their sixth album in Los Angeles – no Irn-Bru.

So Simon Neil and brothers Ben and James Johnston sent an SOS to the Cumbernauld headquarters of AG Barr, the makers of Scotland’s other national drink.

And they immediately flew out 18 cases of Irn-Bru to LA.

The Ayrshire band’s manager, Neil Anderson, said: “Despite LA’s beaches, sunshine, culture and amazing food, the lack of Irn-Bru was a problem.

“California was tainted with a grey cloud – and we knew something orange would brighten our stay.”

This guy wishart being the latest fairly pumping his gums in there defence. This imho is being dragged out to there benefit , the list of proven misdemeanors against them is overwhelming. they should have been hammered long ago . the case should have went straight to eufa, all relevant evidence handed over to be judged on, taking it out the hands of the sfa which i for one have never trusted in this or any other matter pertaining to them and us .I wonder what would have happened if it had been NFL who did what mccoist did, NO I DONT WONDER .
