    Tin Hat oan! I will be rooting for England tonight. I like the manager and I like most of the players. They are playing decent football and are able to change approach during the game. Guys like Pickford and McGuire have came from nowhere to be integral to the team; and that’s what they are, a team. Not a collection of individuals.

     

     

    What will irritate me though is the reaction, not from the English fans, but the media overhype – the same media who pretty much wrote them off before the tournament!

    Really hate when so called fans pick a second or two from the 90 minutes played to highlight some less than perfect piece of play from a player.What planet do these guys live on.What game have they been watching all their lives.tO then use this mistake to say “Not good enough”is ridiculous.At this world cup,players who are way out of our league,have been making mistakes since it started.That’s the game.Get your head out of your head out of the clouds.

    Gareth Southgate will get pilloried and may never recover …..Southgate has done well i hope it continues for him .

    “I, like so many others, was appalled to hear the reports of the incident that happened outside St Alphonsus Church in Glasgow on Saturday. Verbal abuse is in itself unacceptable, but allegations of spitting is vile and disgusting, and we hope those involved are brought to justice. Whilst I am assured that no members of the parade were involved in any of the incidents, we understand that it was carried out by a small group of young men who turned up to watch the parade go past.

     

     

    “The Orange Order is founded on the principal of religious liberty for all. This includes the right of other faiths to celebrate their own heritage and history, just as we celebrate ours. Unfortunately, there are a small number of people in society who seem unwilling to accept this tolerant approach. Indeed, many of them allude to beliefs and sing songs about a time in the past which they probably know very little about or fail to understand completely. I have only one message for them, you are not welcome at any of our parades!

     

     

    “I have today asked our Executive Officer to call Canon White to express our sadness at what he had to endure. We have also written to the Archdiocese. We have contacted the Police to offer our full support in their investigations. A number of members of the parade witnessed the incident on Saturday, and senior members intervened at the time to stand up for Canon White. Those members will be key witnesses for the Police and stand ready to assist.

    I have some very good English friends and my wife was born in Manchester (though she has far more Scottish heritage than me). For me that’s enough but I agree fully about Gareth Southgate. A good manager trying to build a squad of young players who try to play football the proper way.

     

     

    I hope he succeeds.

    The jet charter company that flew the Celtic party to Armenia – Jetmagic – possibly have links with Denis O’Brien.

     

     

    Their registered head office is in Sliema, Malta, which also happens to be O’Brien’s residence in that country.

    Morning all.

     

    For those who like birds, nature etc. If not please scroll by.

     

    That has to be my favourite holiday ever!! I felt like a child leaving when you have the petted lip.

     

    A place called Osprey Hideaways 4 miles from Stirling.

     

    It was more remote than The Gairloch.

     

    The man who runs it has been a conservationist for 40 years. He couldn’t do enough to help you.

     

    I listed 53 different birds that I viewed close up, notably Peregrine falcon, Osprey, Kestrel, Buzzard, Red Grouse,Gooseander with 6 chicks and Redpoll. Hare were common too.

     

    The accommodation was spotless and looks over a loch which was previously 3rd North fishery ,with cliffs at the other side.

     

    Although we stayed in Barn Owl cottage, the pair of Barn Owls proved elusive. I think they were taunting me :-) One morning in the patio, yip, I found a barn owl feather.

     

    For those of you who live in Stirling, you are very fortunate to have this place close by.

    A lot of my family are English, I would be pleased for them if England won, from a personal point of view, I have a right few quid rolling on to France to win the competition, so like D.D. I will be cheering on France.

     

    I will lay off a little on whoever the other finalist is though, to guarantee a return.

     

    I have been lurking the last couple of days, so please tell Fr Tom that I am full of admiration for the courage and strength he has shown.

     

    I agree that because of the St Mary’s connection, it would be appropriate for him to unfurl the flag.
