All 12 Premiership clubs put their name to making Celtic champions

191

Premiership clubs surely hoped details of their unanimous vote on Friday to agree the time was right to call a halt to season 2019-20 and to declare Celtic champions remained private until the SPFL took the final step. Sloppy minute taking and (credit where due) sound reporting by the Daily Record brought the story to light today.

Credit also to the other 11 Premiership clubs, each of whom put their name to the call to declare Celtic champions.  With so much acrimony around, it is important to know so many were on our side on this historically important matter.  I’m sure we will all say “But your club voted to instruct the SPFL to make Celtic champions” at some point in the coming months.

Uefa require each national association to inform them of their plans for completing this season by 25 May, so the SPFL have little over a week to consult with public health advisors and inform the SFA of their plans.  I know we are not all working Monday-to-Friday, but a decision tomorrow would allow many the weekend for a rare celebration.  After this, the club can sit out the rest of the crisis and prepare for their Scottish Cup semi-final against Aberdeen and the chance to complete a fourth consecutive treble.

Nine-in-a-row and four trebles on the bounce.  Still cannot believe where we are.

  1. If The Rangers and Hearts voted for the League to wrap up as it stands – does that mean they were not looking to null and void all along and were just annoyed at the SPFL/Dundee mess?

Doesn’t stack up unless they are looking to get some ‘dignity’ back

  2. Sevco will claim it was under duress, but they love a good grievance anyway. Ignore them. We have 9-in-a-row to celebrate.

Would you want a member of your family to walk up the aisle with one of those chancers?

Still deserving of a medal for conspicuous gallantry behind enemy lines .

  6. 25th of May would be a momentous day to confirm nine in a row. 🍀

What was the tweet that Nacho Novo put out earlier this week? Not a member of the Twitterati so missed it.

  7. Celtic will need to be careful that supporters don’t congregate at Celtic park when the title is confirmed.

  8. It is to be welcomed that every premiership club recognised Celtic as their Champions for the 19/20 season.

    9 IAR. Wow.

PC- hopefully they can mass produce a vaccine as soon as they hope, will be a huge gamechanger 🤞

  11. Bada

The people from Oxford university who developed the vaccine seemed really confident when the trial commenced a few weeks ago. Here’s hoping.

Gene- I’m making plans to head south for 2nd weekend in July, to go into a pub,and order a lovely cold pint of lager……

  13. Hi Bada – From previous…on transfers..

I’m excited to see what the new recruitment team produce and think we have an opportunity to harvest the young English market (a la Frimpong), buy French and spread our wings. We have a great reputation from the last few years. What a USP for next season with 10IAR, 5 trebles, 1 game from ECL qualification and a chance to be part of history….

    Hope you’re well.

  14. !!Bada Bing!! on

Gene- I have seen the guy quoted in the article on various US TV channels in last couple of weeks, he seemed quietly confident that they had something, I don’t think these guys try to give you false hope.

  15. !!Bada Bing!! on

Big W- I am well thanks, hope you are too,I think we will be in a better position than most, when we get back. The French market has been brilliant for us,and agree we could well get a couple more diamonds. I know we were in for Hickey twice this season, watch this space.Ferguson might divide opinion just now, but he’s got something about him,I don’t think Broonie was a regular at CP as a boy….😜

  16. Guys I hope you don’t mind but I’m going to give this a wee bump just in case anyone else would like to donate, it’s the just giving page for Strathcarron’s in memory of Helen. Include gift aid it’s currently standing just shy ok £21,500. Absolutely phenomenal response!!

Fellas – We do realise that a depressed market means we can get some real bargains out there?

Having built and spent on a decent recruitment team I’d be gutted if we ended up with a thug like Ferguson or an average player like Hickey…

    Buy Forster

    Sell Ajer

    Buy a Julien level CH

    Buy a LW

    Keep Odsonne

Make our mid up about LB – Boli or new.

    _____________

If his name was McStay and not Ferguson would you call him a thug? He has 2 sending offs in 100 career games.

I wasn’t particularly fond of Hibernians Scott Brown. Always thought he was a bit of a thug.

Lewis Ferguson is only 20 years old. Scott Brown was 22 years old when he signed for Celtic.

I’m personally impressed with his development.

Hickey is a gamble. But he’s also shown promise for a 17 year old. His price tag would be cheap. We get a 30% cut of any future fee. That means the same as a 30% discount.

Also, if you sell Ajer you will be needing 2 CH’s.

  18. Hickey and Turnbull signed, would,IMO,be a good start.Big Frazer even better. When we signed El Hammed,we were told that his preferred position was CH,but he had been playing RB for his club.A lot depends on Ajer.If he does want to go,it would have to be 20 million.Outside of Scotland he has a good reputation for some outstanding international appearances.Keeping Eddy is paramount.

Friday announcement,or are they waiting until the 25th.Could you imagine the meltdown if they did?

  19. Timaloy29

Sod all to do with his name or his background…I watch him when he plays us and have seen nothing but thuggery…he could have ended Tam Rogic’s career at Hampden when he went through him. I prefer my footballers to the pedestal we put blood and snotters on too much….

Bada – There might be an entertainment value in Ferguson standing on a 10IAR pedestal with a Celtic scarf aloft….:)

Anyhows, all about opinions. Mine are usually crap but good to be talking football amongst it all..

    HH both…

  20. Dontbrattbakkinanger on

H/Tim- so sorry to hear of your loss.

I expect you know this already but Helen was a very special person.

  21. Could be wrong often are but it was my understanding that SPFL league money could not be awarded until final positions were confirmed resulting in contractual fees being released.

All the clubs must have accounted for the money including SEVCO and the Minis however If you have got conviction in your principals why are you voting to complete the season and accepting the placement payments if your of the opinion your correct.

Surley after manipulating the narrative and the media over the last four weeks would not result in a climbdown or contradiction if you were convinced of your stance and position ?

This unanimous decision by ALL 12 Premiership clubs was taken last Friday before the SPFL EGM.

Doesn’t make sense to me.Double speak and forked tongues from the Hun brothers was never going to get a result.

SEVCO NEED MONEY NOW much more than the illusion of the moral high ground right now so they will bite the bullet till the cheques cleared with normal service returning once the cash is theirs.

Sevco really are a rancid outfit who have used the Covid situation for their own ends.Despicable Shower indeed !

    ______

‘ended Tam Rogic’s career’ is a bit extreme.

It was a daft tackle that deserved a red card but he’d hardly be the first player in the hoops to do that. He’s good at more than just kicking people. His disciplinary record is similar to Browns.

He picks up assists. 9 this uncompleted season. 8 the season before (as well as scoring 8 goals)

I’m sure it hasn’t escaped your notice Paul, but this Sunday was meant to be TROPHY DAY!, at least that’s what it says on my calendar. So ……………. a wee ‘calling of the league’tomorrow would suit me/us just fine and we could still have our trophy day celebrations this Sunday, even if only at a social distance. Internet, Skype, Zoom, FaceTime, WhatsApp could all take a helluva pounding this weekend. Here’s hoping.
