ALL SYSTEMS GO FOR AJETI

ALBIAN AJETI is poised to make a dramatic comeback and could even return to training within the next 48 hours.

Celtic’s £5million summer signing from West Ham has claimed five goals in his nine appearances – including the winners against Dundee United and Livingston – and was expected to be sidelined through a hamstring injury until the end of the month.

It would have meant the Swiss international missing the visit of Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox outfit on Saturday, October 17 for the first Glasgow derby of the campaign.

However, Ajeti is now on course to make the confrontation to give Neil Lennon a mjor boost, especially in light of Odsonne Edouard testing positive for coronavirus throwing his participation in the game into doubt.

The hitman pulled up after scoring the second goal in the 3-0 win over Hibs at Parkhead 10 days ago and missed the 1-0 Europa League play-off victory over Sarajevo in Bosnia and the 2-0 success over stubborn St Johnstone in Perth at the weekend.

Lennon, speaking to the Daily Record, gave and updated bulletin on the forward and said: “Albian is feeling good. I spoke to him on Tuesday morning when he came in to do some running and I hope he’ll join us again for training at the end of this week or the start of next week.”

Nir Bitton could also be involved against Gerrard’s Govan outfit he battles to overcome the ankle injury that saw him limp off after only 10 minutes in Bosnia.

Israel have included them in their squad for the game against Scotland at Hampden tomorrow night and the subsequent Nations League encounters against Czech Republic and Slovakia.

But the 28-year-old defender/midfielder has also made good progress and could be for the Premiership’s resumption in 10 days’ time.
