ALLAN TRANSFER MYSTERY

CELTIC misfit Scott Allan is heading out of Parkhead with only five months remaining on his contract.

The 27-year-old midfielder has failed to make a solitary appearance for Brendan Rodgers’ first team this season with the Hoops boss admitting his squad was top heavy in that department with the likes of Scott Brown, Olivier Ntcham, Tom Rogic, Callum McGregor and the resurgent Ryan Christie battling for places.

And Israeli international Nir Bitton, out for a year through injury, also hopes to make a comeback in the second half of the campaign.

Allan has found himself surplus to requirements and has been linked with a move to Hibs where he had a successful six months in the last campaign.

However, Easter Road boss Neil Lennon is not convinced the deal is done and dusted with Allan’s next move uncertain.

The former Parkhead gaffer, who has snapped up Ryan Gauld on a temporary switch from Sporting Lisbon, admitted: “There’s no inevitability about us signing Scott at all.

“There is a lot of talk about it and he’s a player we all admire here, but it’s about availability, cost and whether he wants to come.

“Those avenues haven’t really been pursued yet.

“Scott and Ryan are similar types of players, but if I could get the two of them, I wouldn’t be complaining.

“At the moment, it’s still just speculation, but I think Hibs is a club that’s been very good for Scott and he’s been good for Hibs, too.”

Allan will not be the only midfielder leaving the champions in this transfer window. Youssouf Mulumbu, signed as a free agent in the summer, will be heading out, too, in a loan move to get game-time.

The ex-Kilmarnock star has started only two games since arriving and has failed to make an impact.
