  1. We do have to call out sectarian behaviour when it rears its ugly head. There was one ‘add on’ that I heard last night in ‘on the one road’. Appalling stuff. Ironically a song about ‘United irishmen’ of all religions being on the same path of life. However the buffoons that sing the line about ‘no protestants at all’ clearly do not understand.

There have been incidents of things being thrown onto the park at opposition players. Onr happened last night. Juice or something? Doesn’t matter it is not becoming of celtic supporters.

This is the time to call it out and nip it in the bud.

I can guarantee you that the brave rebels doing this stuff will be nowhere to be seen if the brown stuff hits the fan. There’s always the distinct possibility that those instigating it are doing it at the behest of others with an agenda.

  2. Chairbhoy, BGFC,

Joe Hart’s patience and help to a young girl taking photographs after the game made him my man of the match.

But I was wondering what our captain at the time though about the non Celtic chants just two metres behind his goal.

I must ask, why when we have so many encouraging Celtic songs.?

    HH.

  3. Is there any further info on Calmac’s injury ? Or are people all assuming the worst. I know it do lol bad.

  4. While playing amateur Fitba just over 40 years ago I was involved in a clash of heads with an opponent. I was ” knocked out briefly”, but I played on as we had NO Subs that summer evening. I was put at Outside Right just to get oot of the road for the last 10 minutes or so.

I can CLEARLY remember the incident, and I can also remember Twice taking ” fresh Air swipes” at the ball after the incident ( Some of my Team mates said…” NO Change there then” !

    LOL.

In the dressing room, I was clearly in ” shock” as I could NOT shower or get dressed. My Manager and Team mates realised that I was a some sort of DAZE, and after being helped to get my clothes on, I was driven to hospital. Lying on a Trolley waiting for X Ray, I can remember being very COLD….and asking for another blanket…that was “Shock” taking effect.

After X Rays, it turned out the my CHEEKBONE was broken. I must admit that it was quite an uncomfortable injury. I was admitted to the hospital on the Wednesday Night, and I was SUPPOSED to stay in hospital at least until the following Monday ?

I wanted OUT of hospital sooner and persuaded the Doc to left me leave on the Friday night…two Days after the incident. I LIED to the Doc on the Friday afternoon when he gently put pressure on my Cheekbone with his fingers as I told him it was NOT TOO SORE…It bloody was !

After a couple of days at home, I was having severe headaches and I began to regret leaving hospital so soon.

Luckily, THAT Game was the final game of the Season, so although I suffered headaches and DENTAL problems in the weeks to come, at least I didnt miss any games.

IF CALMAC has suffered a broken cheekbone, he MAY suffer from headaches an/or Dental problems for some time afterwards….HOPEFULLY, he hasnt and that he wont suffer longer term effects either ?

I was VERY Wary of playing again, but there was a Pre Season 6 a side Tourney INDOORS a few weeks later, and I thought that IF I could handle the close contact /hustle and bustle etc of iNSIDE 6 a side Fitba, I should be ” Good to Go” for the start of the Season proper ?

I was ” Good to Go” but over the years to come I had Dental problems and Numbness in my Lips for a very long time. It also had a sore NOSE for many years, and when I FINALLY had it looked at YEARS later, I needed Surgery on my Nose as the incident had displaced a Ligament in my Nose apparently. The after effect of that Nose surgery was also very uncomfortable as I had SPLINTS INSIDE my Nose for at least Two weeks after the Surgery.

Hopefully, CALMAC will recover sooner than I did, and suffer NO longer effects ?

    HH.

  5. Guys,

    I wonder what you think.

A great day yesterday. We won and got through. ( Although my prediction of 0- 4 was waaaaaay of the mark )

Horses for courses. The pub I was in had a DJ and many Celtic/ Irish songs were played.

One of my favourites the Celtic Symphony was blasting out but was very subdued at the lyrics ” Ooh ah up the ra”.

It was patently obvious that some patrons were uncomfortable withe the wording. In these circumstances the all inclusive words ” Ooh ah up the Celts should be adopted ”

It is too good a song to make some fans uncomfortable.

However if I had ventured further along the Gallowgate, probably nobody would have felt uncomfortable.

    Horses for courses.

And a televised football ground where every word can be heard is definitely not one of these courses.

    HH, the journey continues.

  6. GREENPINATA @ 12:57 PM,

    Exactly…

Definitely thought we were going to score a hateful.

    Hail Hail

  7. Paddy Gallagher on

That wasn’t football, that was assault. Kicked with impunity and career threatening tackles every game. We have the most talented footballers available to us with classy players which is the primary scouting model. Sad to say but we will need a few more signings to cover the ever growing injury list if referees don’t start applying the rules.

There appears to be an ever increasing amount of vicious play from the opposing players who can’t play the beautiful game but can still maim and inflict injury on our bhoys! Is there a little league of who can inflict the most damage to our guys?

  8. Bazza Ferguson who was proud of his players and Boab Malcolm who is his assistant, dont think they would be encouraging their players to hold back.

  9. Squad rotation is a given for sides that compete for everything. I’m not sure what we’re doing paying Bitton and McCarthy if they can’t stand in for CalMac against Alloa.

  10. lets all do the huddle on

if folk want the rebel tunes cut out at away games then i provided the solution on here years ago

celtic could employ a blatantly age-ist away ticket policy and only give away tickets to over 30s

and stewards could ID any sneaky youngsters trying to circumvent the rule at the turnstiles

the other upside of this would be that i wuld get more away tickets which is more important obviously

and we wouldnt need to put up with that stupid inane drumming

  11. Ferguson was lying through his teeth, when pre match he said he had respect for Celtic (whilst shaking his head saying otherwise).

That was outright thuggery last night. Barry&Boabs team right enough. In their Image. Robertson should be getting legal proceedings started against him and all these Health&Safety officers by the Celtic hierarchy.

    BGFC @ 11:34 AM,

If we ever want to get the Orange Walks of our streets, we need to get the sectarian brigades out of Celtic.

    …..

Jesus christ what a stupid statement to make, even the stupid guys in the OO would giggle at such stupidity 🤣

    Hail Hail

  13. Don’t want away fans to sing at away games just don’t accept away tickets and soon the fans will fall into line or won’t have a fame to attend.

‘There’s always the distinct possibility that those instigating it are doing it at the behest of others with an agenda.’

    ###

Yeah, that’s a much more plausible explanation than a few of the young team have partaken of a few refreshing ales on their supporters’ busses on the way to the game while belting out the rebs and have just carried on the party.

Seriously, some of the crap on here about the song book.

    Pathetic, moaning miserabilists.

Maybe they’re doing it at the behest of others with an agenda.

Celtic players were kicked off the field yesterday and got no protection from the officials. It’s now happening game after game and opposition teams are getting the idea that they can behave with impunity. That’s something worth complaining about., not a few songs and chants.

  16. STEPHBHOY67 @ 1:59 PM,

    Comes on…

    Profanity…

    Snide Remark…

    Silence…

Don’t get me wrong CQN has always had it’s snidders.

But that was kinda lost among the interesting posts, debates and Celtic chat.

Of course most of the ghuys who provided that great content have moved on, no surprise really.

Yet we still have the snidders.

    Oh well…

    Hail Hail

  17. lets all do the huddle on

total joke of a VAR decision

incredible that a professional ref can give that

  18. Just had the misfortune to watch Arsenal vs Burnley. What I found interesting was the match statistics. Take a peek and see if you can spot the difference between them and our typical figures.

    Arsenal percentages first:

    Possession. 76-24

    Shots. 20-10

    Corners. 12-4

    Fouls 9-13

The relative percentage data on fouls is the reverse of the typical split for Celtic games. If Celtic were smart, they would assemble a mass of such data, possibly filed by referee, and submit it to the SFA seeking an explanation. I am cynical enough to realize that probably the only use the SFA would make of it would be to promote the refs at the wrong end ( for Celtic ) of the statistical analysis.

  19. Scales is by far the best choice we have at left back.hes everywhere great player.a steal in my eyes🇮🇪

  20. ERNIE LYNCH @ 2:37 PM,

Now your advising fholk on not making inappropriate posts.

A contender for ironic post of the year in January

Read the article HRVATSKI Jim posted @ 3:49 PM, prejudice causes real impact on peoples lives.

It has no place in football.

“chanting is of a sectarian nature if it consists of or includes matter which is threatening, abusive or insulting to a person by reason of that person’s religious belief or political opinion or to an individual as a member of such a group.”

That definition takes us back to the offensive behaviour act. A politician can try to make insulting someone a criminal offence but Courts, as they have already shown, will not enforce it because it is unworkable and therefore redundant. Singing songs insulting someone’s size isn’t a criminal offence. If it were then Randy Newman might be in a spot of trouble. So how can insulting someone because of their political allegiance be one?

Human nature being what it is, should you order someone to stop doing something they feel they have every right to do chances are they’ll continue doing it, only louder. Up to now the stick hasn’t worked. The legislation was repealed. Is there a carrot?

Celtic fans could sing nothing for a decade and there would still be orange marches. The 2 are not connected. Orange marches are allowed to continue because politicians agree they should and/ or because they believe it would expend too much political capital to have the marches stopped.

  22. Is there a list of sectarian songs that our support should not be singing?

If I recall Boys of the old Brigade was 1.

Seriously what others is there, I seen on here a few weeks back a debate about Roamin in the gloamin. Always thought celebrating your faith was a good thing but hey ho.

I cannot see that song or indeed any of the folk songs turning other religions away from supporting Celtic as they are not degenerating any faith.

Hail Hail from the Garden of God or am I not allowed to say that???

    D :)

  23. THEBHOYWITHMCGRAININHISSIDE @ 4:26 PM,

What I was attempting to show was that there is a strong political will in Scotland to deal with the sectarian issue.

It comes out of the dark ages and that’s the issue.

The OO have been Marching since the emancipation of Catholics, two hundred years, it is an established tradition and is going to be hard to stop.

They will be delighted to hear the song book return to Celtic Park, the bigots from both sides wollow in the hate.

But that is a side issue, we cleaned up our act many years ago it isn’t easy to do, there was a time at Ibrox where they had a genuine campaign to stop the singing, it fell on death ears – they have a huge problem they can’t eradicate, they too will be delighted with the return of the war tunes.

    SO

Hands up anyone who has taken drink, sang and partied before a game and managed to get to the match and hold a tune without the add ons.

    Hail Hail

  24. onenightinlisbon on

The GB/away support choose a songbook from decades past. these songs have no place either at Celtic park or other grounds around the country. It’s about time these idiots lost their season tickets and I wonder how many of them would actually be able to explain the lyrics to their “Celtic”songs….

  25. I like the rebs….I certainly like BOTOB..Great song… . …but but but…. the add on to north men South men … ….is a sickening throw back to a bygone age ….and yes I used to sing it !….I’m sure it’ll please our protestant players though….

  26. lets all do the huddle on

i was in connollys after the hibs game last week

guy on singing, he sang the fields of athenrye

a table of 4 or 5 youngsters from ireland

they didnt sing any of the words to the song apart from the add-on

so the only words they knew to the song was ‘sinn fein’ and ‘the ira’. which arent even part of it 😄

  27. THEBHOYWITHMCGRAININHISSIDE @ 4:26 PM,

Also if you read down you will see that the Scottish Legislature does not have the power to amend the 2010 Equality Act to contain sectarianism if they ever do have that power there is a will to make that amendment – no doubts.

In fact, there has been several additions to the characteristics since the Act was passed.

    Protected characteristics –

Age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, and sexual orientation.

The offensive behaviour act showed how serious politicians were. It also highlighted how little they understand about how criminal law works. The definition you highlighted shows this. It was tried in that act and failed because it doesn’t stand up in Court. It doesn’t survive real world scrutiny. So it should now be shelved, not dusted down.

The grand orange lodge of Ireland was established in the same year as the United Irishmen revolt. It was created to ensure Irishmen would not unite again.
