BENJAMIN NYGREN scored his first Celtic goal in the 2-0 win over Aberdeen at Pittodrie as the champions made it two out of two in their quest for a fifth successive title.
Following the hard-fought 1-0 triumph over well-drilled St Mirren in the Premiership opener last weekend, the new Bhoy got the ball rolling against Jimmy Thelin’s side with the breakthrough strike midway through the first-half.
The Swede then set up Reo Hatate to lash in a stunning second in the 66th minute ro scupper any hopes of a fightback by the hosts and he deservedly picked up the Man of the Match honour.

However, Nygren insisted in sharing the accolades and immediately praised Cameron Carter-Vickers and Co in the team’s rearguard.
The 24-year-old international said: “It was a very good game and a solid performance from everyone. I think especially the players at the back had an amazing game.
“Aberdeen couldn’t get through us and I thought, in general, that it was a very good performance. We had good control, a perfect win and a clean sheet.
“That’s how I want to play. I can run a lot, so I want to be involved as much as possible and help the team to win.
“I’m very pleased with my performance and the team’s performance.”

Describing his crucial goal, Nygren, speaking to Celtic TV, added: “It was amazing – a perfect cross from Kieran and a solid finish.
“I ran over to celebrate with the fans and the team.
“I’ve said it many times, but, for me, football is nothing without the fans. Celtic is such a big club with lovely fans and they’re a part of the team and part of the club.
“I was so happy to celebrate with everyone.”
