The sun shone, McStay’s Maestro’s ‘Celtic’ won from being two goals down and 25,000 people contributed to War Child, Unicef and the Rio Ferdinand Foundation. Yesterday was another defining yardstick on the Celtic journey.
Getting the balance of these games right, in order to provide an actual ‘match’, is difficult, but the two sides managed it. There were fewer Directioners there to see Louis Tomlinson than last year, but their contribution to the causes was still welcome.
Frank McAvennie scored a classic Macca goal. Hollywood A-lister James McAvoy converted a penalty kick and looked as happy as you or I would in the circumstances. We’re going to struggle when Tom Boyd retired from the Legends game. Simon Donnelly and Bobby Petta looked like they could still do a job in the pro game, but special mention has to go to Gary Tank Commander (Greg McHugh). The words “Nice, Lubo”, left my lips as I mistook Greg for someone else after a deft piece of skill. Don’t ask me to explain.
It wasn’t football as you know it, but it was Celtic supporters doing what they do best – helping those in need.
All this came a day after the Paradise to Cardenden Cycle 2014, when a group of fans cycled from Celtic Park to John Thomson’s grave for the Celtic FC Foundation.
The Foundation is not the club, it is you, me and thousands like us who believe Celtic is something greater. It works in four arenas:
Health
Equality
Learning
Poverty
There’s no obligation for Celtic fans to get involved, or to cherish any of the above, but I know many of us get a whole lot more out of Celtic by anchoring to these principles.
There’s a sense that we’ll see a new Celtic on Saturday. Looking forward to it immensely.

Yeah. Stability. that’s a cracker.
We have stability do we?
Please provide the evidence.
MWD says AYE
Stability. hmmmmm.
Is that the stability where we may be heading for another war which effectively puts us all at risk, especially when travelling?
The stability which may see us leave the EU?
The stability of the rise of UKIP?
The stability of goverments we don’t vote for?
The stability of the future of the NHS?
The stability of having our natural resources income diverted for decades?
I prefer shoogly
“Stability ? That’s it ??”
No, but I thought I’d feed things in gently to grease the wheels of comprehension.
;-)

I note you have put a question mark after
Stability?
I assume therefor you are not too sure?
MWD says AYE
Stability! LOL.
Just heard Ally Ross of the Sun and noted Scotland supporter join Graham Souness in having to mention the two goals scored for Ireland by a player with a Scottish accent.
Do they never stop?
stevietar
I think f they go thru an administration process, then they can get the high wage earners off their outlays, renting Ibrox from whoever has the premises then becomes affordable, but will leave less for the footballing side, ie players etc etc por cierto
Moonbeams WD. Wee Oscar’s our Bhoy and Kano’s our mhan.
If Scotland had be independent during the banking crash, what would have been the outcome?
Stability x2
“I prefer shoogly”
You will until you are paying for it.
But I suppose a great many of the youthful YES voters probably won’t be even then, they will leave that to their parents and grandparents……….
Richie.
I’ll stay at home, but may take in the game on Saturday, booked my Hotel for the Europa League first home game, Carlton George, Starting to think about cancelling it, a bit over priced at £138 no breakfast.
OT
Try the Mercure, Ingram Street
MDW,
Stability, indeed !
It wasTacitus who said of the Romans,..’ They create desolation & call it peace.’
The UK Tories have given us food banks, bedroom tax & dole queues & call it STABILITY.
Googybhoy
Ray Houghton!!???
;)
“I assume therefor you are not too sure?”
On the contrary………..I am pretty certain about it, and the downsides to it.
As are most of the world’s banking institutions.
None of this, of course, will matter a jot if the revenue from Oil and Gas are as bountiful as Mr Salmond hints at.
But if I were him then I’d produce supporting evidence, thus producing a landslide vote in favour of YES. Wouldn’t you?
Why do you suppose he is failing to do that though? Is he hanging back for bets do you think or does he just like a close-run contest?
Would those committing the future of their families not like to be a bit more comfortable with at least that aspect before heading down what is very likely to be a one-way street?
“I prefer shoogly”
You will until you are paying for it.
Not sure what that means. I will pay my way whatever, and normally stick with my preferences.
My choice is self-determination and I will do all I can to contribute to it’s success!
Is that the stability where we may be heading for another war which effectively puts us all at risk, especially when travelling?………………….What war??
The stability which may see us leave the EU?…….You are out of the EU post YES vote
The stability of the rise of UKIP?………So what? Split the Tory vote……all good.
The stability of goverments we don’t vote for?……Who will you vote for in an Independent Scotland? Will EVERYONE get who they vote for? Tell us how THAT works?
The stability of the future of the NHS?…….Get the Tories out.
The stability of having our natural resources income diverted for decades?…..Everyone puts into the pot in a Union, everyone gets stuff out of it too.
I prefer shoogly………….You’ve not thought about this much really, have you?

‘Ernie
do you understand Increase and increase in real terms.
for example I ahave had pay rises this last 3 years. But in real terms tehy have actually been pay decreases. Go figure eh!
So YES I agree NHS England has had an increase in funding this last 3 years but it has not been an increase in REAL TERMS. Thank you for your interest in my opinion though.
I’m sure though you will not be able to fathom that one out or will ignore as it does not suit your agenda.’
###
Thank you for at least attempting to answer the question.
I think that what you’re trying to say is that the budgets have increased year on year but by less than inflation.
Have I got that right?
Have you any actual figures?
The nats are telling us that the Tories are going to abolish the NHS.
That’s not consistent with the Tories actually increasing the NHS budget year on year.
So I’m sceptical.
I also find it difficult to accept that the English would vote into power a party that was intent on destroying the NHS, or return to power a party that had destroyed the NHS.
We all know that the English are a shower of basturts. But they’re selfish basturts. They like the NHS. They value it. They rely on it. And they won’t vote for a political party that will destroy it.
I’m sorry but your nat scare story just isn’t credible. Not if you think about it.
Paul67. For next two weeks can you set two extra blogs? CelticquickYES and Celtic quickNOs. If there is anyone left here they can discuss Celtic matters ( because that’s all that really matters) . The Onlooker.
Gooseberries will keep you regular imo!!! ps and they are green!!!

I have no time for the Royal Family but I would imagine that they pay for themselves in terms of the amount of tourists who come to Britain.
Ain’t never personally met anyone who came to Britain just to see the royal family.
I share the, admittedly extreme view of the late Willie Hamilton, that the old Duke is the biggest social security scrounger in the country.
Lot of guff talked about their devotion to duty.
Nobody twists their arms.
Duty or not duty, like others of their ilk, they have accountantss working night and day to see how they can milk the system.
Is the Don game not on Saturday??
If this site is a litmus test for Scotland as a whole then , YES or NO vote going forward , the one thing this referendum has done is create tensions and divisions among people who otherwise may have little differences between them and that, for me , is likely to be the biggest problem after the event – reconciliation.
Whatever the result there is going to be one very unhappy but very sizeable minority.
“I prefer shoogly………….You’ve not thought about this much really, have you?”
Have I?
Is that you being superior?
Do you think you are better than me?
Less than a week after signing a loan deal with Celtic, John Guidetti‘s debut may be in doubt after he went down with a foot injury in Sweden Under-21 training.
Swedish website DN.Sport broke the news today and it’s bound to worry Hoops fans who are looking for the Manchester City striker to kick-start their season.
Guidetti, 22, is on national duty with the Sweden Under-21 side and is understood to have picked up the injury during training today.

I wouldn’t bank on that. It’ll all depend on the result.
A dooing by Salzburg and there will be plenty of recriminating going on.
“Have I?
Is that you being superior?
Do you think you are better than me?”
I think what he might be suggesting is that, whilst opting to choose the polar opposite from what most Hunz would choose is normally the sensible approach, that in this instance it should not be the only prerequisite for drawing your conclusion.

OK.
Has the increase in the English NHS been a real term increase or not. ie. has the increase covered the increased costs of running the NHS year on year this last 3 years? now you keep on with this NHS increase question. So please provide the figures that satates the increse in the English NHS has been a real terms increase?
as for my other question.
I take your silence to mean you are not able to provide information or knowledge of a single benefit to the Scottish people that is better than that we have now or of equal benefit to anything offerred to us if we vote Yes.
thanks you for you silent answer.

This site is just one small section of a small section of the Scottish people so I wouldn’t base any forecasts on what goes on in here.
It surely is a divisive issue though. Sooner it’s all over the better.

=============
Absolutely not trying to be superior………..I simply find it strange that you think it terrible to leave the EU………..I agree………If Scotland votes yes, that is EXACTLY what happens.
How do you know you’ll get the government you wish for post seperation?
I honestly don’t think you’ve REALLY thought about this, I don’t mean that as an insult.

So I shouldn’t have put my house on a “Don’t Know” vote based on CQN?
Woulda been nice if you could have piped up with this earlier….
Too many cheeky b’s around.
If you can’t say something to someone’s face than don’t say it on a blog. Especially if you’re not even using your real name.
It’s not big or clever.
I make no bones about it, I am voting YES.
However, I find myself wondering about a couple of things.
Would things have turned out differently if half a century ago, Westminster had adopted some form of PR.
Also would things have turned out differently if Scottish Labour had taken Cardinal /winning seriously when he told it that it could no longer take the Catholic vote for granted.
And by extension had it stopped taking all Scottish voters for granted.
In this respect it is well worth remembering that at the last Holyrood election, there was an aspect of Scottish Labour snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
Just a few wee thoughts.

MOre to the point JUST VOTE.
Westminster Politicians will tell you just what they think you want to hear. And they will do so mainly to ensure their own political survival and place on the gravy train.
Trouble is, the disease that affects them is an almost universal staple when entering politics.
Whatever way you vote ask before you do to see proof that they can deliver what they promise. For if they fail then the cost will land on your shoulders, and that of your loved ones.
And Ernie
Please do not thank me for showing good manners. Just offer the same good manners and start answering the questions asked of you. It’s only polite. Or maybe you should stop watching the Westminster TV channel. it’s rubbing off on you.
