Anderlecht and Hibs will keep adrenaline flowing

287

Celtic are used to putting in the miles but this month they play an incredible six home games, surely a record (?), with away trips only to Edinburgh to face Hibs and Hearts, and Dundee. If you are keeping an eye on historical records, eight of our 12 games until February are at home, with a trip across town to Firhill the only other away game on the schedule during the period. Deal with Hibs on Sunday, and we will take on an even more formidable look.

8 games in 29 days is as packed a schedule as anyone in Europe will have this month, but the lack of travel will help players prepare for each subsequent game.

The unbeaten domestic run is set-aside tomorrow as we conclude the Champions League group stage against a resurgent Anderlecht. We will talk more about this game tomorrow, but get through this one, and the adrenaline will flow sufficiently to see us through to the winter break.

I was up the Celtic end no.1 that day with my da.. Good Dunfermline side. In 2010 my son won the Dunfermline player of the year and I met a few of the 68 team at the awards night at East End park. Roy Barry was a cracking guy and I’m told he was a Celtic fan. Got a word with Tid Callaghan and Bert Paton too.

  2. remember a european game at parkhead maybe 1968. my uncle had come up from nottigham looking for a ticket anyway none to be found dont worry he says ill come along anyway. walking up london road he spots a bus driver he knew. next thing uncle pete dons the bus drivers cap and uniform and yes he got in.

Jim, I’ll do a fiver for each goal scored! Walking Br Walfrid’s footsteps indeed!

I’m reminded of it Everytime I enter St Mary’s and see his wonderful portrait at the side of the Sanctuary. He was a remarkable man that 130 years on his ethos is till providing for hungry schoolchildren!

I got a season ticket for my grandson a number of years ago; he was never really interested. I dragged him along for about 4 or 5 seasons but he eventually stopped coming. I’ve kept the season ticket (now in the North Curve) in the forlorn hope that he may come back into the fold; he’s 16 now and shows no signs of relenting. However, he hasn’t shown any signs of apostasy and gone to Firhill!

Various friends and relatives have benefitted from using it for the past 5 or 6 season!

Yes – a good Dunfermline side . You would have been chuffed re your son’s achievement . My son ( like me ) can’t play football . I was always last pick in the 15 a side back court games ..

I was fit to burst in Glasgow January 68 . Harassed by that Glasgow street Team Ya Bass guff , harassed by the polis and in big danger of having a meltdown flakey .Celtic provided an out from that guff but even then I had to keep an eye open for who I might encounter !!! . Boring Boring Boring .

I knew that leaving to go to Uni was my way out — set of exams in May — and Bye Bye !!!

I’ll donate for every goal scored in the game – if it’s 0-0 then i’m sure I can find something

  8. Anxiously waiting for news of Eurochamps.

He has given me his ticket for tomorrow night , an absolutely brilliant seat too, yesterday an hour before he left for Hospital he texted me advising that he had given the ticket to Bournesouprecipie who would meet me before the game.

There was a ghuy heading in to Hospital for a major operation and his thoughts were about ensuring I got his ticket.

What can I say. Unbelievable ghuy.

  9. talking about dunfermline late nineties i think. my claim to fame playing the pars at paradise ithink we got beat by a penalty. but the next day me and my brothers picture in the sunday mail we were behind the goal it was scored from no happy faces in that crowd.hh.

You are of course correct; the meaning of Christmas is now secondary to a mass commercial exercise to relieve us of as much money as possible! So much so that many schools no longer have a nativity play because they want to be “inclusive”; the meaning of a Christian celebration is sanitised so that non- Christians can celebrate it and be “included”! It beggars belief!

    GREENPINATA on 4TH DECEMBER 2017 11:39 AM

Therein lies the problem! It isn’t a cultural celebration. It is a religious celebration that has been secularised as a money making scheme!

Let’s try that with Ramadam, Diwali or Hannukah and see how the “PC Brigade” and other religions react?

Anyone any idea where I could purchase retro scarf for boy?

He will be getting my 1969 one but not until I shuffle off this mortal coil which I hope isn’t anytime soon. Someone was saying the Govan Emerald scarf is being sold?

As winter is truly upon us,The Ordinary fans who don’t go to the Boozer’s, before and after the game, same old standing in the cold, Superstore is to small ,The Kerrydale is always full, were else can the fan who plough millions into the club, only to be treated like second hand fans, again if you have money, then it’s the red carpet treatment, but if not it’s the dookits, for the usual rip off prices for a lousy pie and Bovril
