Anderlecht and Hibs will keep adrenaline flowing

287

Celtic are used to putting in the miles but this month they play an incredible six home games, surely a record (?), with away trips only to Edinburgh to face Hibs and Hearts, and Dundee. If you are keeping an eye on historical records, eight of our 12 games until February are at home, with a trip across town to Firhill the only other away game on the schedule during the period. Deal with Hibs on Sunday, and we will take on an even more formidable look.

8 games in 29 days is as packed a schedule as anyone in Europe will have this month, but the lack of travel will help players prepare for each subsequent game.

The unbeaten domestic run is set-aside tomorrow as we conclude the Champions League group stage against a resurgent Anderlecht. We will talk more about this game tomorrow, but get through this one, and the adrenaline will flow sufficiently to see us through to the winter break.

  1. Eurochamps hope all is well. Will keep you in the prayers.

I love so much about Belgium having spent four years at the University of Louvain, but tomorrow night my support and feelings will only be for the Celtic. It should be a good European night and hopefully the means of playing European teams in the New YeAR. HH.

  2. Burnley 78 suggested to Jimbob that ` If that is your real concern re Celtic then I am sure you could meet your pals over in the Emirates.`

Any other ideas that would help the abstemious, bereft of warm clothes , Jimbob?

  4. Jimbob,

I take your valid point in the serious manner in which I’m sure it was meant.

It is a problem, no doubt. There are many child friendly establishments in Glasgow city’s centre to suit all tastes and moods. Not so many in the immediate vicinity, although there are some. KFC for example. The real problem is the shocking transport system we have to endure. Utilising normal public transport, we have to leave at a ridiculous early time ( possibly in the pouring rain ) to guarantee kick off.

I note with some envy , many families going to Grayskull enjoying pre match food / drinks and getting the subway about 30 minutes prior to KO time. No snyde comments please.

It’s 2017 we should have a similar facility. This quick facility should reflect the economic value we continually bring to the city.. How much will we generate for accommodation, entertainment, taxies etc etc tomorrow ?

You have a very valid gripe.

VFR. I take your point about Christmas, and I agree. What I was pointing out is; it’s some of the least religious areas that promote Christmas the best.

    Hello lads

firstly, hope all goes well for Eurochamps today …

and the ‘euro’in his name has me thinking …

In from court, and reading newspapers over lunch before I head out to a meeting..

at the moment, North American politics are woeful (‘how pretty Trudeau is’ and ‘what stupid thing did Trump say today’ is the level of our discourse, so been reading up on/trying to figure out how the whole Brexit thing is going to play out …

and, particularly, wondering how May is going to deal with the Irish/Brexit situation … honestly, dont know how it will shake out … and thought I would throw it out there to some of you irish bhoys for your thoughts … (or anyone else who is interested) …

for brexit, the 6 counties voted 56% to remain in the EU (88% of the nationalist vote chose to remain in the EU, while only 34% of the Unionist vote did so) …

in the nationlist vote, the percentages were largely consistent across educational and economic lines, while in the unionist community, there was a significant correlation between education/income and the vote (the higher, the more likely to vote to remain in the EU)

I cant see anyone but the small extremist community wanting to go back to a hard border in Ireland… but otherwise, how does Brexit work in Ireland? I cant see a return to a hard land border in ireland, which means a sort of de jure division in the Irish Sea … which would, I would think, make the 6 counties closer to the rest of Ireland,…

rather than see that happen, will the DUP reverse court and stop supporting May/Brexit?

I dont see it…. and if the 6 counties can be, in some fashion, exempted from some Brexit provisions, why not Scotland, or London?

genuinely interested to see how this is all going to play out

    Catering-

In Very apt Italian style -crumbling Death Trap stadiums with 2 types of Security (over zealous or non existent) will sell you edible food /coffee worthy of the name and booze…Booze isn’t a problem /Very few Italians drink to excess and the Mad mental We like violence Ultras prefer not to dull their wits with booze and opt for Charlie instead.

  8. My thoughts and prayers are with EuroChamps.

CorkCelt myself, my brother and his son will be in BV at around 4.30pm tomorrow. Our stay might not be more than an hour though as the wee Bhoy wants to get up to Paradise early to see can he catch a glimpse of his heroes getting off the team bus.

See you Bhoys tomorrow, I’ll be having an early night tonight. Busy day ahead.

  11. Would love to see a breakdown in how the tickets for this Sunday were allocated. Never had any problem in the past being allocated a ticket for Easter Road. Pretty pointless in paying top dollar for a season ticket when it doesn’t match up to the promised benefits.

SoT … cheers mate …. will have a look …. it will give me something to do tonight …. at the moment, I”m spending most evenings talking to a seriously doped up golden retriever, who looks at me and drools …. must be what Trump’s cronies feel like most days!

Looking for some help please for Anderlecht game. I’m in Playa de Ingles in Gran Canaria. only pub listed on Celtic Bars is in Puerto Rico. Would be grateful for any suggestions of a Celtic bar in Ingles or Maspalomas please. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

They had some ridiculous criteria, something like 7 away this season and 10 last. Away games are a closed shop these days

A referendum/ vote on a deal allowing for no divergence across the Island of Ireland would be an interesting one. Problem is a form of words had apparently been agreed which to all intents and purposes would have kept the North in Europe but the DUP torpedoed it.

I think if there was a vote the more economically literate “Unionists” might actually vote for no economic divergence from Europe (but there already is with Sterling?..) and win the day. It’s a question of whether those Unionists would vote on political or economic grounds. DUP don’t care if we are fecked as long as we are all fecked within the “Union”.

Would also set an interesting precedent for Scotland although the old “only part of UK to share a land border with Europe” would be rolled out.

HH big man hope you and Derry well.

  19. Jimbob: it’s an awful pity there isn’t a fans’ café beside the Superstore.
