Passing hasn’t been great and not moving the ball quickly enough.
Anderlecht happy for us to have the ball. That will change as the game goes on.

I’m watching a different game from a lot of people on here it seems. Nearly a 90% passing accuracy and we have completed 234 more passes than them with most of the possession. Ideal way to play in Europe.
Gordon has made 1 save from their 4 attempts at goal. We are on top and will turn the screw in the 2nd half!

I would have been doing somersaults if we had got a draw here but the 2 anderlecht centre halfs are wooden…..I think Brendan will aim to expose them with maybe more balls missing out the midfield….
On Saturday a few players demeanours, tbh, I thought was a bit ‘all-about-me’ and I was disappointed but tonight it’s totally different. It’s quality players doing there job as best they can.
I think I’m trying to say the team know they need to bring EVERYTHING to beat ANYONE at this level and that is just magic….

Half if not more of those passes will be passing across the back 4. With Anderlect sitting off and allowing us to pass across the back freely. The possession stat of 71% is incredible though.
Our passing wee it counts in midfield has been poor and being caught on ball in that area far too often. The stats disguise the poor quality of our passing and possession where it counts.
We need a little more composure from mid to front.

Another stat which may have an influence as the game goes on, with Celtic dominating possession Anderlecht by necessity are covering more ground. Will they tire?

I think some of those possession stats were being gifted by Anderlecht.
They do not employ a high press and are happy for us to pass around at the back (well, until they went behind they were). Their game plan was to draw us forward and hit us on the counter.
Therefore, unlike the Scottish teams who chase our defenders in possession, this team has not been burnt off in the first half. However, they must now threaten our first third possession play as they are behind. I don’t fancy Celtic being able to play keep ball for the rest of this.

Pretty bitter stuff from Tom English.
It’s beautifully poised for Celtic but in a Champions League context it’s second-rate stuff. Ntcham gave it away four times in the first 15 minutes, Sinclair gave it away, Rogic gave it away. It was an epidemic of misplaced passes. The good thing is that Anderlecht haven’t been up to much. They don’t look like cutting Celtic apart. Celtic’s goal was a moment of beauty dropped into a load of rubbish.
