ANGE AXED: EIGHT IN A WOE

ANGE POSTECOGLOU was brutally sacked as Nottingham Forest manager just minutes after the team’s 3-0 loss to Chelsea at the City Ground this afternoon.

The former Celtic boss watched in agony as the team failed to win in his eighth game in charge – and the inevitable happened in the immediate aftermath.

The hosts had dominated most of the first-half, but couldn’t get the crucial breakthrough goal with captain Morgan Gibbs-White passing up two good chances within a minute – firing waywardly off target on both occasions.

Boos echoed around the ground at the final whistle after the London club’s three-goal performance after the interval when they responded to being on the backfoot in the opening period.

UP IN ARMS…a frustrated Ange Postecoglou.

Club owner Evangelos Marinakis left his seat in the stand after the visitors had sprinted into a two-goal advantage inside seven minutes of second-half through a header from Josh Acheampong and a free-kick from Pedro Neto.

Emphasising the lack of good fortune for the manager or the team, substitute Igor Jesus hit a drive off the inside of the crossbar and onto a post before it was cleared.

Chelsea captain Reece James’ goal was the final nail in Postecoglou’s coffin.

He was appointed boss 39 days ago on September 9 and his reign at Forest now becomes the second-shortest managerial spell in Premier League history.

The Greek-Australian left the ground shortly after full-time following Forest’s quickfire announcement of his instant dismissal.
Former Burnley and Everton gaffer Sean Dyche has already been tipped to take over with Forest sitting 17th in the table and due to take on Porto in the Europa League on Thursday.
