ANGE CAN BE SCREEN GEM ON SPFL OPENING DAY

ANGE POSTECOGLOU can be a screen star when Celtic kick off the Premiership against Hearts at Tynecastle on Saturday, July 31.

The 8pm start in the capital will be beamed live by Sky Sports and the new boss has a perfect opportunity to make a first impression as the Hoops set out on the crusade to win their tenth title in 11 years.

Postecoglou will be hoping history repeats itself. The last time the Parkhead men got the league season underway in Edinburgh was in season 2016/17 in Brendan Rodgers’ SPFL debut. A late goal from new signing Scott Sinclair gave the visitors a 2-1 victory and Celtic went on to complete a historic season as the Invincibles as they swept to a domestic clean sweep.

Following the encounter with Hearts, the former Australian international manager will have back-to-back games at Parkhead – against Dundee (August 7) and St Mirren (August 21).

The Hoops will end the month with a trip to Ibrox for the first Glasgow derby of the season, while the opening fixture in September is a home game against Ross County.
