ANGE DETAILS WHAT DRIVES HIM ON

ANGE POSTECOGLOU had revealed he is a self-motivator and is driven for success.

The 56-year-old Celtic boss admits his relentless quest for silverware will probably be in evidence until he finally calls it a day.

Postecoglou got his Hoops reign off to a perfect start with the first trophy he could win since his June arrival when he led the team to their 2-1 Premier Sports League Cup Final victory over Hibs at Hampden on Sunday with Kyogo Furuhashi, his £4.6million signing from the J-League in summer, netting both goals.

NATIONAL TREASURE…Ange Postecoglou is all smiles as he accepts the acclaim of the ecstatic Celtic fans at Hampden after his first silverware success.

The challenges are piling up for the Greek-Australian and next up are St Mirren in Paisley tomorrow night and St Johnstone on Boxing Day as the battle for points continues.

Postecoglou doesn’t shirk from the weekly examinations of his methods or his team and, speaking to the Daily Record, said: “People have always sort of gone: ‘Yeah, but has he done it here or has he done it in this circumstance?’.

“Everywhere I’ve been I’ve had success. I think that’s a driver in me. I think that will probably be with me until I decide to retire.

THREE’S GOOD COMPANY…Ange Postecoglou is flanked by two-goal Kyogo Furuhashi and captain Callum McGregor after the Hampden triumph.

“Maybe I create that scenario a little bit, too, just to try to keep myself motivated. Not to prove people wrong, but to prove me right more than anything else.”

The fixtures have mounted up for Postecoglou and his players – nine encounters last month – and, ironically, it was the top-flight clubs who voted for the January three-week winter break which has led to the pre-New Year congestion.

Asked if he’d scrap it, the Hoops gaffer answered: “Look, I haven’t lived the real Scottish winter yet, so maybe ask me in a couple of weeks’ time. I don’t have all those answers.”

Thankfully, Postecoglou has been answering questions on the pitch where it matters.
