Ange sets tone like a boss

By any measure, Ange Postecoglou is clever. Thrust by sponsors into sitting beside Mick Beale for a pre-cup final media conference, there was no “lucky man” barbs sent along the table, instead, he spoke about Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s achievements.

“He won a trophy, finished second in the league and got to the Final of the Europa League. You change a couple of those things and they’re building statues to that guy. It’s a fine line.” Don’t criticise your opponent, just remind everyone of the achievements of his predecessor. Who was still sacked.

Games are not won at a presser five days out, all the hard work lies ahead, but Postecoglou set the tone in the room like a boss, he is determined to land this plane.

With possibly 120 minutes to plan for, Ange will be pleased Aaron Mooy and David Turnbull are available for selection. After the game at Ibrox on 2 January moved against Celtic, Mooy replaced Matt O’Riley. The response was not instant and had more to do with the introduction of Jota than anything else, but I expect Aaron will start on Sunday.
