Anger at Ange a year on, YouGov on cinch SPFL woes

216

Motor trade publication, AMonline, yesterday reported YouGov’s findings into advertising and brand awareness for the industry for last month.  They show awareness of SPFL sponsor cinch increased to new highs, demonstrating “a greater increase in this metric than any other automotive brand in our database.”

YouGov credit this increase in brand awareness on coverage cinch received due to Newco’s refusal to display the league sponsor’s logo.  The research company noted, “If [Newco’s} aim was to reduce awareness of Cinch’s advertising, our data shows that it clearly has not worked.”

Advertising and sponsorship is expensive, news coverage for your brand is almost impossible to acquire in a positive manner, but cinch find themselves as the innocent pawn in stories across all media.  This level of coverage would be unaffordable if they were to attempt to pay for it.

One year today since Ange Postecoglou was appointed.  He has been an overwhelming success, delivered the league title and brought footballers to Celtic who entertain and excite.

The levels of anger and lack of foresight left on these pages a year ago is not something you will all want to review.  Success comes from hard work, innovation and strategy.  Celtic will not get everything right, they will not win every trophy.  As a community, we have to learn the lesson of what happened a year ago.  A few articles from a year ago:

Howe pantomime ends

Postecoglou only part of the solution

The Poste always delivers

Ange likes to get things done early and it seems he is getting backed.

    Well done to all concerned.

  2. I think CCV will get better as well. Great deal; means we have continuity on the keeper and back 4(5)

No issues in midfield and only Jota the unknown up front.

A great day to be a Tim- aren’t they all😎

  3. !!Bada Bing!! on

IniquitousIV- tremendous signing, him and Big Joe settled quickly, and were massive for us last season, Jota next hopefully, CL is a massive draw for players .

    “No issues in midfield”

    ———————————

Respectfully disagree with that. In Europe last year, teams were playing through our midfield with ease. Lack of pace, undisciplined spacing, and no one who could tackle a fish supper were all factors. We often saw Callum desperately trying to help his defence out, and often just getting in the way. We were also outmuscled by the most recent iteration out of Govan, ( often illegally I might add ) but we need players that can cope with the Lundstrums of the world and give them a dull one when necessary.

Honestly … is that the first thing that comes to your mind ?

Am pretty sure whatever chief executive that done both CCV & Jota loan deals the transfer fee was already agreed

CCV weighed up his options, Benfica probably haggling over a sell on fee as their chief exec probably getting pelters on BQN for agreeing circa £6m

U-21s finish with a creditable draw in Denmark, 1-1. Overall, they finish second bottom with 1 win in 8 games, 13 points behind Belgium and showing little promise.

    Wind your neck in.

Just thought it was strange , that there was no fee mentioned.

Sorry for misspelling your moniker. I really should double check my posts.

It’s been widely reported for about the last season a £6m fee was agreed between the clubs

Good business by whatever Celtic chief executive finalised the deal

Apologies for commenting on your post … thought that was what the blog was about

I still think it strange that’s your first reaction to one of our best players last season signing on permanently on a long term deal

  10. Majestic Hartson on

I’m not a massive fan of showing people how I never get anything wrong but:

MAJESTIC HARTSON on 28TH MAY 2021 6:66 PM

These appointments can go either way, however I’d like to make a few predictions:

    • We will be slow to start this season, possibly dropping a good few points at the start of the season

    • The players will buy into the manager’s style of play and despite playing a lot more football in our 6 yard box than most would like we’ll have the best defence in the league

    • We’ll beat the Huns 3-0 at Celtic park on our way to going to the top of the league – a Japanese player playing one of his first games for us will win MOM.

    • We will know one of the players of the season, who we have on loan, will be signing permanently because his tiler told us.

    • People will be happy to show how smart there comments were a year ago.

    • People won’t be happy to show how stupid there comments were a year ago

    • Ernie will still be using the term “cult” a lot

  11. Great news on CCV. Jota next please….

    Let the rebuild continue..

  13. Agree , that it’s a great bit of business.

He’s only 24 and and with a 4 year contract , he will only get better.

If the fee is £6m , as some have alluded to , all the better.

  14. Well done Celtic, well done Nicholson, well done Ange.

We are up & running on day one, Jota next please,

Hope we can offload Ajeti, Bolli & Soro & then let’s see who we bring in.

  15. Welcome to Celtic Cameron Carter Vickers.

Good work and patience pays off.

  16. I thought for sure CCV would have chased the cash in the EPL … especially as a club Bournemouth 5was there before) would have probably offered him fae better wages …

Terrific start on day 1 or the window

Maeda also notched a wee goal after being on the park for 2mins in the Kirrin Cup earlier, Tony Bhoy the other night … Jota next (hopefully) think Benfica are after a Liverpool / Ryan Kent clause 30% sell on

Get it done … take the 30% hit, it’s only a hit if Jota keeps doing his stuff … win / win

  17. Evening all.

Delighted to get the CCV deal done, fingers crossed, Jota next.

Ange likes to do his transfer business early.

The next week or so will be interesting.

As an aside, brilliant day in the Shipbank with cracking company.

This was the first time I have been in the company of David66, jeez, I wouldn’t like a slap on the lug fae him.

All the balls are in the players court now,and it is a fine balance of continual advancement personally while offering financial security.

CCV now has his contract and security settled for the next 4 years,so he can focus on his own personal development. So by signing for the champions he has automatically got 10 quality Champions league games as well as our league games to force his way into The U.S national side.i would hope that would be a goal of his. Happy over here with it and an active summer commences.:-)

  20. IniquitousIV on

A couple of posters have commented that Ange likes to get his business done early.

When you think about it, it is the only course that makes sense. When successful, it relieves a lot of pressure on the manager, and avoids the last second desperate measures when a deal you have been working on goes breests up at the 11th hour. In years past, our flailing around hours before the deadline were irritating, and indicative of incompetency in the running of the organization.

  21. IniquitousIV on

Juranovic lined up as left back for Croatia in Denmark. 0-0 after 45 minutes.

France down 1-0 in Austria and presently propping up the Group.

Sounds like you had a great day!

Absolutely delighted with the capture of CCV!

    Who will we sign tomorrow?

    Canny wait!

  23. AT 8.28pm

100% correct … “we” all might think we know better but guys like CCV it’s his career and earnings … no chance many of us will ever decided how much we can earn or pick and choose what multi million pound contract we sign :-)

Am just delighted as I think he is a very steady influence on our team and in centre half “ages” still a youngster

Delighted he has committed to the club for next few seasons

  24. INIQUITOUSIV on 10TH JUNE 2022 8:30 PM

Fella, we literally secured GG, Jota and CCV on the last day of the summer transfer window, Cameron with literally seconds to spare.

And as that proved, waiting for a valuable loan to perm at the end might just be the right thing to do in certain markets (EPL’s overblown talent market).

Chile lose their FIFA case that an Ecuadorian player was ‘imperfectly registered’ and is actually Colombian. They have 2 avenues of appeal, the FIFA Appeals Board, and finally CAS. The Chileans appear to have solid evidence and FIFA have not published a rebuttal of their case so far.

I have a feeling that Ecuador will be tossed from the World Cup, and replaced by Chile. Now if FIFA had only appointed Lord Dimmo-Smith………………..

    BIG WAVY

You have a better memory than me, and of course you are correct. But I bet Ange wasn’t a fan of that process. Juggling too many plates in the air at the one time.

Was that under our dearly departed short term Chief Exec.?

Now that Nicholson has his feet wet, maybe all the critical pieces of Ange’s jigsaw will get done in a timely fashion. Hope so anyway.
