ANGE’S No.1 TARGET HEADS FOR SPAIN

GOALKEEPER Mat Ryan, who had been linked with a reunion with his former Australia manager Ange Postecoglou at Celtic, is heading for Spain.

The Brighton netminder spent last season on loan at Arsenal where he made only three league appearances and has one-year of his contract at the south coast club.

Postecoglou is looking at the Hoops’ problem position, but it appears Ryan is set to sign for Real Sociedad.

Spanish newspaper El Diario Vasco report he will be named as replacement for the exiting Miguel Angel Moya. They claim it will be initially a temporary transfer with the option to make the switch permanent.

Ryan has already spent two years in Spain with Valencia from 2015 and a return seems to be on the cards.

The Parkhead side struggled for a consistent keeper last season, despite spending £4.5million on Greek international Vasilis Barkas who was a summer arrival from AEK Athens to take over from Fraser Forster who returned to Southampton after his successful loan stint.

However, he failed to impress and Scott Bain and Connor Hazard were also given runs in the top side.

It could be back to the drawing board for Postecoglou as he attempts to put his Celtic squad jigsaw together.
