The Football League in England have woken up to the notion that they do not have a working business model. Solidarity payments from the FA Premier League’s new TV deal will earn Championship clubs £2.3m a season (considerably more than Celtic will receive from TV for winning the SPL), with League One sides earning £324k and League Two sides earning £250k.
Unfortunately, for those hoping to establish a well-balanced and competitive structure, parachute payment to those relegated from the Premier League will earn each club £69m (£23m in year one, £18m in year two and £9m in years three and four).
The Guardian report that today Championship clubs are expected to warn the Premier League that they risk permanently damaging the “integrity of the Football League” by increasing parachute payments to the proposed level. An unusual case of a group asking for some of its members to receive less money.
The Football League doesn’t have a viable business model. Clubs spend unsustainable amounts of money trying to attain the riches of the Premier League, where they can add zeros to both income and expenditure. Most fail and many of them plummet down the divisions. Even those who drop into the Championship with parachute payments (albeit at the old level) find deleveraging too difficult.
The SPL doesn’t have a viable business model either. They should be talking to the Football League and see what benefits could accrue from working together.

Get you!
Was only a reference to your reference re Father Ted…..wan day oan strike…..:)
Celtic Mac @17:45 his dental tools sorted the men from the boys.
Never been able to find comedy that involves other people’s embarrassment even remotely funny, wind up calls really are the lowest form of this, imho, cringe worthy and lacking in any grace, the person making the call would probably not be so jocular if they were on the receiving end.
Btw, Tommy is not a Glasgow Taxi driver as constantly reported, he is in fact a Glasgow Private Hire driver! or as the public now erroneously refer to them, “private hack”
Sigh!
kikinthenakas @17:49 “Is it just me….or…..do any of you agree with JJ and Ernie at the same time?”
Often it’s a big risk to agree with yourself on here.
But I’ll chance it and agree with all three of you.
The Sandaza thing is feeling sorry for someone when you wish you didn’t.
Part of what we are.
Or sticking up for your pal. Then giein him a shirrikin in private.
B11OYS @18:25 if tommy is a “private hack”, he’ll be right at home on here. Especially if he’s an amateur and rank rotten.

Give me strength, what a day, there’s me agreeing wae you as well and I would add, well said, you have sorted out my conundrum.
Your comments on the Rose yesterday already had me warming to you……bring on the wine…

Fran Sandaza is a working man, trying to do the best for himself & those who depend on him.
He is not some idealist who can take time out to evaluate how his actions will impinge on the sensitivities of the rest of society.
How many of US make moral judgements when we are offered employment ?
Not many, I would guess.
We do the best we can in the situation.
Could we not all try to just live & let live,.. & not make judgements on a guy who has found himself in a place he would sooner not be ?
Sorry , Tommy.
What you did was CRASS.
I am not sure that my decisions would always be perfect.
I would be reasonably confident that neither would YOURS.
Fran Sandaza has done NOTHING that would ever offend ME.

I no longer work for the civil service but still agree 100% with their actions today

Surely the difference is between Hackey carriage taxi driver and Private Hire. They are both taxi drivers.
Hackey = Hackney

Maybe i’m just going senile.

I agree. I know a few black hack drivers and they get quite arsey when you call a private hire a taxi. I usually tell them to grow up after all an unmarked police car is still a police car.
A first time poster but long-term member of the Celtic Family.
Enjoying the stories from 10 years ago. I left a conference in Blackpool to drive north on the M6 jealously passing all the buses and cars heading in the opposite direction on the way to Liverpool. Got home just in time for kick-off. What a night! Fans & players were brilliant.
Just shows what can happen when Club & Fans work together – which brings me to my main point. The recent decision by LNS shows that the SFA are at best protecting their jobs and at worst corrupt. We can’t let this story die.
Rather than a boycott which will hurt the Club we love, how about on the 47th minute of every game, we have a minutes noise for the £47m – the amount that a certain dead team used to gain a competitive advantage.
Just a thought born out of frustration and anger! No idea how to make it work so might do my very own protest in section 102 where I have my SB.
“Justice for the 47m”

People who fall victim to scams invariably allow their disbelief to be outweighed by greed.

Does that apply to the elderly and vulnerable who are scammed out of their life savings by bogus tradesmen?

Aye, asked him if he wanted to stay here but is booked into the commercial in Wishaw and meeting Winning G in the Keys in the afternoon, so was hoping to get up to have a beer with him.

Of course there was an outcry to save our celts….. and when fergus came in the media and sfa treated him as the saviour of scottish football then gave him accolades for rebuilding celtic park. Filling it with season ticket holders.. winning the spl .. AND setting a fantastic example of how to run a football club prudently ;)

A private hire or a hackney are BOTH taxi drivers
However one offers better value for money, has no security screen and isn’t allowed to pick up flag fares from the street or use bus lanes!!!
