ALISTAIR JOHNSTON kick-started Celtic’s comeback in the nerve-shredding encounter with Ross County in Dingwall at the weekend.

With 14 minutes to go, the Canadian international defender diverted in a drive from Callum McGregor for the crucial equaliser to throw the champions a lifeline.

Nicolas Kuhn completed the spirited revival from the visitors with the points-clincher in the 88th minute.

And it was smiles better again for AJ as he celebrated his 26th birthday today.

CELEBRATIONS…Alistair Johnston jumps for joy after netting the equaliser against Ross County with Callum McGregor, Auston Trusty and Liam Scales about to join in.

The dependable right-back claimed his first strike of the campaign when he powered in the Hoops’ final goal in the 3-0 victory over St Mirren in Paisley in August.

Reflecting on his goal in the Highlands, Johnston, speaking to Sky Sports, said: “I was honestly just trying to get out of the way!

“Cal just whacked one and I couldn’t get out of the way.

“Thankfully, it hit me and it went in. He told me afterwards he thought it was going wide, but I don’t know if he was just trying to be nice about that.”

County will be sick of the sight of the popular Celt. He was the matchwinner when the sides met at Parkhead in January!

From all at CQN and Celtic supporters everywhere: Hoopy Birthday, AJ!
