Another treble yell, Mackay-Steven needs football

337

Another year, another “treble yell” from the Celtic family, this time from Lubo Moravcik. Lubo did it, of course, but that was 16 years ago, and despite playing monopoly with the league since then, we’ve not managed to add two trophies to the haul.

Celtic have secured one trophy, with the league title a formality, so the treble is now all about the Scottish Cup. The cynics will expect difficult draws (should we overcome Albion Rovers) and, perhaps, ground-breaking referee decisions. A grasp of history suggests our chances are no more than 50%.

I can understand Brendan Rodgers wanting to retain a fringe player, like Gary Mackay-Steven, in order to give the player a proper assessment during the second half of the season, but Gary needs to play football right now. A period on loan at Tannadice would help him return to form, and if it didn’t, it would answer a few questions for Brendan.

  1. Mike in Toronto, CQN is in full. Censorship mode.

    Dissent is out.

    Compliance is in.

    It’s the modern way………..

Paul and Peter will be very very proud.

  2. Joe Gomez,Liverpool player, suppose to be on Celtic radar.of what I have seen of him, terrible defender,I think Ralston would be a lot better than Gomez.

  3. Hunderbirds are Gone on

Watching Plymouth v Liverpool, without commentary. Hard to say who the top league team is.

Quite like the fact that Plymouth fans call their Home Park ground, “The Theatre of Greens” :)

  4. Neganon

You have to do an awful lot to get banned from CQN.

the guy who got banned did it to himself,

It has nothing at all to do with censorship.

    HH

P.S. I don’t always agree with you but enjoy your posts and your tenacity and I salute your indefatigability. :-)

  5. I hope Awe Naw wants to get back too

    However….

Before any revisionism creeps in, no-one was banned for dissent or for having an alternative view. The cards get issued for abuse and language. Beyond that, Paul exercises more liberal boundaries than I would allow and that most blogs allow.

But bad language has always been a no-no. Whether you disagree or not with the policy- that’s the host’s prerogative and there are plenty more platforms that do not have a problem with it.

Personal abuse is being cracked down just now. Awe Naw, it seems, fell foul of that. He may well have an argument that others should have gone with him but I don’t think he was wholly innocent himself.

The mods have a tough job and the rules are clear. Don’t hassle the mods about their decisions and take it up with Paul- OFF THE BLOG.

I want to see fair treatment for all on here. Disagreement need not become overlay personal and, as there is a crackdown on, we should all be careful to heed the warning and tone it down.

And before, anyone gets any ideas, I am not a mod nor do I have any interest other than the blog be entertaining and interesting and not a series of “You Suck! and You’re a walloper!” type comments.

Time to be more grown up about this and, as I said, haste ye back Awe Naw. We are going to be in need of these voices as the court cases unfold.

    Neganon ….

    How you doing, today?

I think you and I are of a similar mind when it comes to the PLC. And, like yourself, I cant understand P67’s silence on some of the issues.

However…. (there is always a however) …. to be fair to P67, (i) its his blog, and he can chose what he wants to talk about, or not talk about, and (ii) he lets a lot more stuff go than I would (if I was a mod, I think I’d be like on of those crazy south american refs …. brandishing yellows and reds with abandon! )

I cant say more, as I didn’t see the post that caused the problem, but my sense is that P67 has been pretty up front about what gets banned and what is allowed… after all this time, I would be surprised if something had changed in that regard… but, as I say, I didn’t see the post.

I just hope that whatever happened, awe naw comes back, as I miss his contributions, and I think people like him and you provide a much needed counterpoint to the generally pro-Board slant on CQN ….

Homunculus 4th November 2015 at 12:19 pm #On “Phantom Tax Bills”, from 2012.
http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/rangers-could-owed-tens-millions-1449760
Rangers could be owed tens of millions in damages over phantom tax bill, says ex-Ibrox director Paul Murray
…
And he believes they may well discover grounds on which lawyers could claw back in excess of £50m in lost revenue and damages.
============================
Have we heard an update on this wee cracker?

I may need to sue Paul Murray to recover the cost of damage to a keyboad and two monitors caused by being sprayed with tea when I read his comments.

Hunderbirds … I love a good pastel de nata …. never had one in Portugal, mind …. bet they taste even better there!

  15. Liverpool ease through. I like the shape and style of this Liverpool team. Not a huge EPL fan but feel that the emergence of Spurs and Liverpool has reinvigorated the rather dull shite of the last 4/5 seasons.

Will be interesting to see how the established coaches ( EPL stalwarts) of Mourinho and Wenger cope with the ideas of Klopp and Pochettino.

I do also believe there has been a levelling down of a player quality as Citeh have grown older and Chelsea have stopped the 0buy everyone “policy of recent years.

Apologies for talking about football. I promise to return to hamstring injuries and recipes very shortly. HH

  16. mike in toronto on

JMccormick …. I like Klopp… think he’s mad mental, and his teams are fun to watch. But, I think Pocchetino might be the best young manager in the game just now. Two really good managers.

PS… how’s the hammy? and got any good new recipes? :)

  17. Talking of Lisbon, my lhad is heading out next weekend.

Visiting our shrine on Saturday and attending the Sporting Lisbon game that evening. Him and his mate will be in the Hoops. I have been told that there is an old bakery near the Estadio where the pastel de nata have been baked for centuries. He assures me that he will be sampling them.

  18. mike in toronto on

Hunderbirds / JMcormick …. legend has it that the portugese clergy first starting baking the pastel de nata because they used the egg whites to starch the church vestments …. so they had to figure out a way to use up the extra yokes that were left over.

  19. MIT

Don’t start me on the hammy! I hope to be back running in two weeks however there is still pain when I stretch at the moment. Need to just take it one day at a time. Rest day tomorrow, back in gym on Friday.

No new recipes. Sticking to old favourites for the moment, the lhad cooked his first Italian meatball dish today and he did a great job.

I am sticking to grilled fish and chicken in the main just now, although I did enjoy a good old fashioned pizza tonight.

No a big fan of Bitton but thought when on form he was good, consistency was/is a problem, always called out when he had a stinker or what I thought was a stinker but never liked any player being offered a lift to the airport.

Remember GMS having a spate of MotM performances and still getting dogs abuse, it’s the same old same old, made up minds hate to be proved wrong, would rather loose a good player.

Same with JF always called out why I wasn’t happy with him and admitted when he deserved the plaudits so recognise there was talent but again consistency was the issue. Being wrong about a player can have have its rewards.

Confidence is SO IMPORTANT to any Player – Not everyone is Blessed with the Mental Strength of Henryk.

Henryk was a World Class player – Ronny Dinho praised him to the Heavens. NUFF SAID.

JMccormick … I see your hamstring pull, and raise you a periformis strain … a small muscle in the hip… causes symptoms similar to sciatica … I have been in agony for two weeks ….

    this getting old stuff sucks!

  22. Sorry, posted too early there.

According to my story, the egg yolks were fused with oranges to produce a fruity version of crema Catalan? Who knows. It all tastes good if the ingredients are good quality.

  23. sftb,

i am almost at the point of thinking CQN is actually the articulate, mostly, posters of a certain vintage, but drunk , often , PARLIAMENT of celtic supporters.

    so,

rules of posting need to be implemented

    and

    the chair , (mods)

must shut down daftness, intolerance , threats of violence , and personal insults.

we need to have the equivalent of the speaker, order order.

    there i said it,

debate is the key, the ability to have a point well made,

the ability to have someone type hear hear.

    the mother of parliaments,

an example of good conduct and rational discourse.

  24. BIG-CUP-WINNERS on

CQN is often a great place. Sometimes it goes beyond bizarre though. Petulance from grown men unable to respect the guy who makes the platform possibie.

How many on this blog have made friends, sourced tickets, raised money, laughed, commiserated ?

The rules don’t swear or abuse other posters.

When you err (most of us have done it), an apology and an assurance you’ll not act like a trumpet is usually all that Paul asks.

It’s a small price to pay for the bounty.

Perhaps decency and respect are beyond some ?

Hunderbirds … the ones I TO are good (pretty big Portugese community here), but I am sure the ones in Portugal are spectacular … but I am sure that my bestest buddy, Torontony, will sneak a few through customs for me when he returns (hint, hint… ) :)

  30. There used to be a deli (it may still be there) at the top of Byres Rd that sold Portuguese style custard tarts.
