Another treble yell, Mackay-Steven needs football

337

Another year, another “treble yell” from the Celtic family, this time from Lubo Moravcik. Lubo did it, of course, but that was 16 years ago, and despite playing monopoly with the league since then, we’ve not managed to add two trophies to the haul.

Celtic have secured one trophy, with the league title a formality, so the treble is now all about the Scottish Cup. The cynics will expect difficult draws (should we overcome Albion Rovers) and, perhaps, ground-breaking referee decisions. A grasp of history suggests our chances are no more than 50%.

I can understand Brendan Rodgers wanting to retain a fringe player, like Gary Mackay-Steven, in order to give the player a proper assessment during the second half of the season, but Gary needs to play football right now. A period on loan at Tannadice would help him return to form, and if it didn’t, it would answer a few questions for Brendan.

I am flying from Liverpool, 24th – 28th, and was £132 return, £246 cheaper than Edinburgh Costa at weekend there

MIT – sorry last night into on St Lucia, it was Simon’s tours for the island tour – brilliant

Also Friday street party in Gros Islet is far better than Oistins in Barbados

    Hail Hail

  2. There is a lovely wee Portuguese owned cafe just behind the Huns end at Hampden.

The lhad and I had a nice wee lunch there before the LC final. They did lovely wee custard tarts. Well worth a visit.

    The soup was good too.

hhmmm …. I wonder if the sniffer dogs in the airports in Lisbon are trained to sniff out custard tarts in people’s luggage ….

Thankfully my sciatica is nowhere near your level.

I have pins and needles in my lower left leg 24/7, 365 days a year and have had for 4 years now. It is not an inconvenience, just there.

I thank God I do not suffer from serious back pain.

Cowiebhoy …. thanks. We have one day booked, but will arrange things when we get there. So, we will definitely look out for Simon!

I enjoyed oistins, so if this is more fun, then it will definitely be worth going. Cheers,

PS … Torontony was on here today saying that of him, BRTH and you, you were the sensible one! But, dont worry, I defended you! :)

Your lead will enjoy it.. barrio alto is great spot for beer at night .

Injuries … 3 major back pulls in last 5 years.. last 1 seems to hit nerve .. pins and needles right down front of leg.. just back at gym this week . Not easy at all.

JMccormik .. it is bad when it acts up, but fortunately, it comes and goes …so, most of the time, it is not a problem…

and as has been pointed out to me, fewer custard tarts would probably help! :)

Feel like the two old guys on the muppets! :)

  9. I’ve been in Portugal on quite a few occasions but don’t ever remember eating a pastel de nata which is surprising as I quite like that sort of thing. I thought I would google it and also came across a pork chop bun which I initially thought was rhyming slang for something else ;-)

I looked up a list of Portuguese protected designation of origin foodstuffs and surprisingly Pastéis de Nata’s are not listed.

Yep .. basically told glutes don’t fire up properly .. in between the severe pain .. 2years usually I’m training great and playing loads football then suddenly it comes back.. happened just before Christmas. Couldn’t even tie shoe laces and slept on floor.

Few massages and acupuncture has helped so back at training. Frustrating and would do anything for it not to return but not that confident it won’t. Seems like the best thing is to keep stretching as much as possible. Only 31 so hopefully I can get it sorted.

Hunderbirds … I’m not sure that someone as pasty white as me is going to be able to pass myself off as an authority on anything latin …. besides, I might be over the pastis … that pork chop bun that Pogmathon was mentioning has caught my attention!

  15. “I was struck by the similarities between much of what was advocated by the British Fascists of the late 1930’s, early 1940s and what is happening today — much of what the traumatized workers displaced by globalization are hoping for from the Trump Administration. It was the worst of times then. It is looking more and more like the worst of times now. The various fascist movements that in World War II were aligned with Hitler’s Germany was then (both pre and post WWII) used as a rationale for world government/global governance. The rise of nationalism in Europe and here in the USA is similarly pointed to vigorously by those now urging “global governance,” i.e. Javier Solana, Strobe Talbott, ”

Sorry to hear of the pain. The physio I used is a good mate. He could not help initially , we tried acupuncture and even holistic stuff. I then did the chiropractor , about 6 sessions and he was a great help. Thankfully I had BUPA cover but I would have paid as he got me walking without pain in less than 3 weeks. May be worth looking into?

  19. A wee Glesca woman and a baby were in the doctor’s examining room, waiting for the doctor to come in. The doctor arrived, examined the baby, checked his weight, found it somewhat below normal, and asked if the baby was breast fed or bottle fed. “Breast fed,” she replied.

Well, strip down to your waist,” the doctor ordered. She did. He pressed, kneaded, rolled, cupped, and pinched both breasts for a while in a detailed, rigorously thorough examination. Motioning to her to get dressed he said, “No wonder this baby is under weight. You don’t have any milk.”

“I know,” she said, “ah’m his Granny, but I’m glad I came!”

Green with envy as I read CQN plans for the Second Great Lisbon Airlift.

I went 4 years ago and I was astonished of forehead at how great a town it is – never mind visiting the Estadio Nacional, which was, well, emotional. It’s a warm, friendly fascinating city, and they love us. Still happy memories of the 67 invasion.

I can 100% recommend this strange and lovely place:
