Another treble yell, Mackay-Steven needs football

337

Another year, another “treble yell” from the Celtic family, this time from Lubo Moravcik. Lubo did it, of course, but that was 16 years ago, and despite playing monopoly with the league since then, we’ve not managed to add two trophies to the haul.

Celtic have secured one trophy, with the league title a formality, so the treble is now all about the Scottish Cup. The cynics will expect difficult draws (should we overcome Albion Rovers) and, perhaps, ground-breaking referee decisions. A grasp of history suggests our chances are no more than 50%.

I can understand Brendan Rodgers wanting to retain a fringe player, like Gary Mackay-Steven, in order to give the player a proper assessment during the second half of the season, but Gary needs to play football right now. A period on loan at Tannadice would help him return to form, and if it didn’t, it would answer a few questions for Brendan.

    Thirds63,

    Or 21 for short :)

I couldn’t go back as the building is demolished but it reminds me of all being huddled round a tiny telly with black and white picture. Rented coin operated telly with one or two bob needed to feed it, wingnut winder. Ah nostalgia

    .

On the Henrik anniversary what about dreadlock wigs :)

  2. Correction: Paul commented on the radio that future revelations would be ‘nuclear’, not apocalyptic, if my memory serves me right.

Got to say my criticism of previous years accounts appear to have been addressed a wee bit, looks like they are trying to make the accounts easier to u derstand, well done credit where due.

I am still a wee bit confused though, note 8 has the club with only 100 shares and note 15 identifies share capital 1million £1 shares eh, hauners :)

I wrote a conciliatory post a few minutes ago trying to address your issues and balance them against what CQN gives the wider congregation of Celtic supporters and at the same time trying to understand what Paul, a young man with a wife and family, has to contend with in a rabid, Hun infested environment. John James tells us that he has had to leave the country because of threats to chop off his fingers and blind him with acid so why should Paul raise his head further above the parapet. Paul is high profile. He has appeared on the media on many occasions. To be honest, Margaret, what exactly have you done to make you think that you are in a position to criticise Paul? You, and while I’m at it, some others on here have a daily pop at Paul for not bring radical enough in criticising the Board but none of you walk in Psil’s shoes.

There are many of us who would like the Board to confront the Huns, SFA, Meeja, Uncle Tom Cobley and all but we recognise that the tables might be turned on the Club and we might end up being portrayed in a bad light. Evidence? CSA hiring a private eye to investigate referee Jim McCluskey and Celtic CEO Allan MacDonald hiring a psychologist to report on Referee Hugh Dallas’ performance in the Rangers NIAR 3-0 victory at Celtic Park. How did that go for us? If you find CQN painful to read why don’t you and the others of a like mind draw your own conclusions and recognise that CQN no longer gives you what you once hoped for, no longer meets your needs and seek to find another Celtic blog which does.

Precisely the same risks to life and limb would be run by members of the Celtic Board who are regularly vilified on CQN for not speaking out and up about whatever happens to be the issue of the day .

I`m delighted that they have chosen to speak softly and carry a big stick.

A stick which Brendan is currently wielding with impressive stickmanship .

“Rangers is a great football club, it has a great history and it’s unfortunate that they have been relegated,” said the Irish businessman.

“We would certainly like to contest with them every week – we believe we’ve got a better team and a better management structure.

With due cowardice, you hide behind an alleged quote from Dermot Desmond. That’s three days in a row. You must have posted that quote more than a hundred times over the years.

  16. Just a little reminder Awe Naw wasn’t red carded as an act of censorship, Awe Naw was red carded for characterising any Celtic supporter who did not agree with his views on the board as “morons”, being so excited at having the “old firm” back that they were prepared to perform various sexual acts.

When I pointed out that Peter Lawwell had publicly stated Celtic’s position on the “need” for a strong rangers, that was being pedalled by Alec Salmond. Awe Naw then turn his general post about Celtic supporters into a direct insult to me.

I have no personal animosity towards Awe Naw, if he returns to this blog or not is of no consequence to me. However let’s not make him out to be some unfairly treated upholder of truth and justice suffering censorship and repression.

  17. Graham Hunter has a podcast up with John Collins in his ‘Big Interview’ series.

The podcasts are generally very good from GH (although he can at times appear to interview his guests from a kneeling position ) and the Collins one should be interesting.

  21. I believe someone on here suggested we should not be picking teams etc as we have a very good manager who does that job already. Nevertheless, it is fairly natural when talking of ones`s team to favour certain line-ups over others. That being so, should the Wee Rovers game be used to blood the new Bhoy and give the likes of GMS and Biton a start or do we go with whatever Brendan sees as our strongest eleven to reinforce the unity of the first half of the season?
