Another year, another damaging SFA leaked email

361

The Scottish FA has an interesting history of leaked emails.  I hear.  Today’s presentation, by that persistent thorn in the side of those who would rather awkward questions were not asked, Alex Thomson of Channel 4 News, is surely a contender for Leaked Email of the Season.

The critical words, written by SFA chief exec Stewart Regan on 23 June to various people, read:

“In parallel to the above, could Rod Petrie please brief Charles Green confidentially..”

So on 23 June, Petrie and Regan were on the onside with a plan to “gain buy-in to the plan” from SFL clubs to parachute Sevco into the First Division, and the SFA chief exec had instructed that the chief exec of Sevco was “confidentially” instructed on this plan.

On 24 June Rod Petrie’s Hibernian took plaudits for their statement of intent to reject Sevco’s application to the SPL, adding that “This re-affirms the view of the Board that the sporting integrity of the SPL is of paramount importance”.

Petrie and Regan are on the main Scottish FA board, along with former Rangers director Campbell Ogilvie (president), Alan McRae (vice-president – although I don’t think that means he is in charge of vice), Ralph Topping, Tom Johnston and Barrie Jackson.

It is no wonder our earlier calls for resignations have been echoed by SFL chairmen today.  Sack the lot of them, I’d say.

    Would be an exciting move, hopefully done in time for the CL qualifier!

    I think Spartans should apply to join the SPL, and if they are unsuccessful they should try to gain entry into Scottish Division One.

    Why not, if a club less than four weeks old have the front to do these things.

    Why will the SFA make an announcement of the SFL’s decision?

    It may not be an announcement about the SFL decision per se.

    I love the “along with other interested non-league clubs!”

    Also on the upside if they get into Div 3 alot of their travelling fans will have nice away games in Stranrar just a ferry ride away.

    I always dread hearing or reading the news he has signed for someone. Didn’t realise he was a Hoops fan so hopefully that will help us get the deal done. HH

    Fin75 – I guess the lesson learned here is that it doesn’t matter where everyone is from, as long as we’re all the same religion. (thumbsup)

  10. Why does the BBC strapline refer to Newco Rangers?

    It’s confusing the Rangers supporters into thinking this vote has something to do with the club which is currently in admin and awaiting liquidation proceedings rather than about a new company which is 4 weeks old and has no corporate connection to the old club.

    It leads to stupid remarks like “we’ve been punished already, why are we being punished again?”

    SuperSutton – It’s confusing the Rangers supporters

    To be fair, a lot of things confuse the Rangers supporters, such as:

    * Where does the sun go at night?

    * How do toilets work?

    * Who is the fat, baldy, tattooed guy with no teeth living inside the mirror?

    * Words and numbers. (thumbsup)

    ==

    I doubt the majority of the board sceptics, i include myself in the catergory in this instance, would go so far as to allege collusion between Celtic FC and the SPL/SFL/SFA in some type of underhand deal to resurrect die toten hun. From my own perspective i consider the ‘silence is golden’ stance from the board inappropriate at this juncture. I know it is an opinion that divides the posters on CQN but part of the rather engrossing debate on the subject has turned sour with name calling including that most heinous of titles HUN.

    So, of OldCo was relegated to SFL1, then from that point on it was / should have been NOTHING to do with the SPL.

    SFL rules apply. When the relegated Rangers is liquidated, what do SFL rules and precedent say should happen? Div 3 or out on their bottoms, no?

    Whatever happens today the one thing that will not have changed and will be more apparent than it ever was is that Celtic operate in an extremely, extemely (I’ve said again for emphasis hostile environment in terms of the natural inbuilt bias in Scotland that favours Rangers.

    For me it is the height of folly to continue with the thinking that Celtic, the Celtic Board and the Celtic support are separate from each other and that it is a good idea to have a hostile attitude within the Celtic nation when we are surrounded by it.

    The old Celtic Board have gone, the memory of it will go with the passing of my generation and new thinking and attitudes will take the place of the old. It is the way of things.

    That new attitude surely has to recognise that the only thing that Celtic, the Celtic Board and the Celtic support have is each other and we need to start thinking and acting as one, not sit in the sidelines and snipe at each other.

    We need to dump the tired rhetoric of them and us. There is only us, there always was only us and by God are we going to have to stick together and support Celtic in every possible way to see our club, OUR club in the form it is,whether we like it or not, through what is going to be some difficult years ahead.

    We are seeing corupt Scottish football at first hand Rangers have allways been part of the establishment and they are doing everything they can to do there best for newco.The football authorities are only interested in one club and they have been putting out misinformation for weeks now.The decent football supporters of all clubs should be demanding resignations and an end to this coruption.H.H.
