Answering tangential digs at Celtic

570

I see Celtic’s name was dragged by the media into what some low-life vandals did outside Ibrox this week – and a few years ago, for good measure.  There are low-life vandals out there, and we don’t have a way to filter them out of the Celtic support, so I‘d not dispute any of the tangential links, but vandalism like this happens all too often without media coverage.

When stories suddenly appear to be so well framed in the newspapers, you have to wonder why?  Or who is behind them?

There’s a big play underway for what, in this context, should be called Supremacy in Scotland.  Celtic have it right now and no one else is strong enough to eclipse them.  The best way to achieve this is to destabilise the club.  It’s worked, but only to an extent.

I read Paul Larkin on Hail Hail Media this morning who raises some interesting questions on what’s going on and what we should do about it, “as a collective, cannot be beaten”.  It’s hard to argue with.

We’ve got two exciting bits of Magners business for you today………..

First, if you want to win two Premium Seat tickets to the Jock Stein Stand for Sunday’s potential league winning game against Aberdeen, courtesy of main club sponsor, Magners, answer this question about our last 9-in-a-row campaign:

Against which team did Celtic win the first of their 9 consecutive titles, in 1966?

It was a famous game, settled by a famous scorer.  Email the team name IN THE SUBJECT LINE of your message, to celticquicknews@gmail.com

Competition closes at 17:00 TODAY, so you only have a few hours…..

And there’s more……  How do you fancy playing on Celtic Park in 12 days’ time?  Go to Facebook and enter this Magners competition to win a place in the end of season 7s tournament.

You get to grace the place that McGrory, Johnstone, Dalglish and Larsson did their stuff.  Do it.

Now I’ve got you in a good mood.  If you’ve a spare £1 in your metaphorical pocket, go stick it into the CQN Mary’s Meals appeal  Those CQN school kitchens in Malawi feed over 2,000 kids each day.  That’s food needed every day………

Had not seen mention of offshoregame.net website before.

Hopefully it will be widely read exposing SFA chicanery re granting the former Rangers a licence to participate in UEFA competition.

    Deserves highlighting.

Thanks for posting the link. HH

If they didn’t, and all the evidence suggests that they didn’t, knew they didn’t and couldn’t, then why should that club not have suffered the same fate as the 23 other clubs who operated under the same UEFA rules?

    ===================================================================================

Should these 23 other clubs not be informed that they were treated more harshly than Rangers ?

On the face of it , in a discriminatory way.

They may have grounds for appeal and compensation.

No bother man. You highlighted it more succinctly than I.

Very detailed and yet well put report.

The heart of this report, a report which by the way names names, accuses wrongdoers and apportions corrupt practices across clubs, SFA, Executives and Legal representatives, contains an autopsy on Res 12.

I really hope that some of the lads on here were involved in its production.

It was pointed out to me ….Tangentially :)….by Alec Thompson.

The http://www.theoffshoregame.net/475-2/ blog and linked documents are indeed insightful and put much meat on the bones of my lunchtime post (Letter to Peter Lawwell).

Which begs the question, with all the evidence available now in the public domain, why are the SFA / SPFL / Ibrox club variants still allowed to operate as they do ?

  14. An Teach Solais on

    MATT STEWART,

Thank you for additional and most interesting information.

The more discussion of the issue the better. There was a post earlier today which suggested that many Celtic supporters and most supporters of other clubs do not comprehend the issues of Res12. Education, Education, Education.

This issues are clearly delineated on webpage to which you and Cliftoncelt have drawn our attention.

Tangentially could we get Alex Thompson LITERALLY to involve himself??

    Thanks, again and Hail, Hail.

  15. Embramike from page 1

Well said. It calls out Lawwell.

Now that Sevco have arrived in the top league and knocked us out of the SC Lawwell starts to waken up after robbing the club for the last 4 years.

A quick call to Paul67 to put some propaganda out about Level5 and attempts to destabilise the club. What immature nonsense. Did Level5

    – sell our best players and replace them with Carlton Cole , CKR, Bangura, Rasmussen, Balde,Pukke

    – help prosecution of innocent Celtic fans

    – line their pockets to the tune of £10M over last 10 years while downsizing and refusing to pay living wage

    – appoint a rookie from the Norwegian fjords to take on the mantle of Maley, Stein and O’Neill

    – aid and abett new club=old club lie and drag Res 12 into the long grass

    – disengage thousands of Celtic fans

No it wasn’t Level5 it was our control freak CEO who Paul67 has yet to write a critical word about in this generation of downsizing—- and is probably lobbying the Big Boss in Rome for another Saint Peter.

I wonder if the long awaited big picture will be about Saint Peter and the man who has single handedly destroyed the ethos of the club. No manager with any respect can work for this beancounter control freak.

I have 3 season tickets and not one of them will be used on Sunday. When guys like me cannot be bothered it does not bode well for the club.

  17. Janefield Street riot.

I was in the thick of it and the riot was as bad as reports state.

I later wrote a letter to the editor of the Celtic View which was published, I also wrote to Strathclyde police. I lived in Dundee at the time. Many weeks later a high ranking cop travelled to interview me at home. I gave a statement and was summoned to an enquiry at Glasgow High Court. I gave my evidence and that was the end of it. I saw it first hand it was extremely badly managed by the cops, contrary to what some think the Mounties did charge Janefield Street twice. How no-one died that is beyond me.

Liverpool are looking good today… but maybe missing a star up front to finish things off

Milner is looking like the player I thought he would turn out to be be …. good all round midfielder

The ref isn’t giving Villareal the fouls they are looking for, and Villa are getting a bit rattled…

    a decent game so far

It may be worth considering that not renewing season books does not necessarily equate with a boycott of the club and can simply be a decision not to pay for tickets for every home match upfront before the start of season and at the same time send a powerful message to the directors of our club.

Like many tims, I like Villareal…. but there is something kind of ‘mad scientist-y’ about Jurgen Klopp that I like … plus he seems to get his teams playing good football …. I hope he does well at Liverpool
