‘ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE,’ VOWS NTCHAM

STOPPAGE-TIME goal hero Olivier Ntcham admitted his winner against Lazio in Rome last night was the high point of his Celtic career.

But the French midfielder insisted there is MORE to come as the Hoops look ahead to next year and participation in the last 32 of the Europa League.

Ntcham, a 77th-minute substitute for Ryan Christie, guaranteed Neil Lennon’s men a place in history as well as the competition’s knock-out stages with a deft chip in the fifth minute of added-on time.

It handed Celtic their first win on Italian soil in 13 attempts, gave them 10 points after three wins and a draw from four games and made certain of European football in 2020 where the former Manchester City star believes the Parkhead men can make a massive impact.

Ntcham, speaking to the Daily Record, said: “I enjoyed the goal a lot. It was a great moment for everybody – for the fans, too. I think everybody enjoyed this night.

“I don’t know how, it just happened. It was a great ball from Odsonne Edouard.

“The keeper was close to me. My first touch was a little bit wide of
 the posts.

“It was the right option to shoot. Was it the biggest goal of my career?

“Maybe yes. It was important for the history of the club, for sure. It was a special moment for everybody. Everybody enjoyed it – the team, me too.

“Everybody is very pleased and proud of doing what we did.”

Ntcham is now out to top the group and go even deeper in to the competition after twice toppling a Serie A side in successive encounters, winning by the same scoreline in Glasgow just over a fortnight ago.

He said: “It says a lot about what we can do in Europe. Lazio is a top team in Italy.

“I think we can go far in this competition, even win. But I don’t want to speak too early. We will just take it game by game and focus on the next game.

“We want to finish first. We have started quite well with the draw to Rennes and now the wins over Cluj and Lazio. Anything is possible.

“We have to keep going like this. If we finish first we get a better draw in the knock-out rounds.”

Ntcham added: “We can do a little bit better in front of goal with our finishing, but sometimes it is
like that.

“We have to keep trying. I hope to keep playing now.”
