ANYWHERE BUT CELTIC FOR FLOP FORWARD

HE may have scored the first ever goal for Brendan Rodgers as Celtic manager but flop forward Nadir Ciftc’s career is now in jeopardy after he was told he was not wanted by Plymouth Argyle.

The Turkish misfit agreed a season-long loan move in the summer, but hasn’t scored a solitary goal in eight appearances for the struggling League One side.

Now boss Derek Adams is desperate to move him on during the transfer window but accepts he can’t ship him back to Celtic.

However, Ciftci, who cost ex-Hoops gaffer Ronny Deila £1.3million when he joined from Dundee United in July 2015, will NOT be returning to Parkhead.

The 25-year-old dud, who claimed a mere four competitive goals for the Hoops during the Norwegian’s reign and made only two appearances for Brendan Rodgers, has been told he can seek a permanent move elsewhere.

Argyle gaffer Adams said: “The only way that Nadir will leave is if he goes to another club. He won’t be going back to Celtic.

“He will be moving on to another club or he gets himself back in the team here.

“We just have to wait and see. His agent is on the case.

“I would like to see Nadir playing for us because he’s a talented individual, but he needs to play games somewhere.”

Remarkably Ciftci agreed a four-year deal when he arrived at the champions and was even handed the coveted No.7 shirt.

But he failed to impress and was loaned to Turkey’s Eskisehirspor and Poland’s Pogon Szczecin without success.

A move back to Dundee United would seem like a logical option but the Tannadice club is currently outside the top flight of Scottish football and has an owner who covets an exit from the game as soon as possible.

Spending money on a Ciftci re-union is not a option and the player must instead hope that his agent can convince any club at all to give him a chance to save his footballing career.
