Anywhere but Warsaw

868

My thought on looking at our potential opponents this morning was ‘Anywhere but Warsaw’.  Our man Zbyszek tells me Legia were awful in the first leg in Warsaw against St Pat’s, where they drew 1-1 courtesy of a late goal, but we’ve been there.  Henrik Larsson & Co. drew 0-0 against St Pat’s at Celtic Park before winning 0-2 in the return leg.  St Patrick’s have a big job ahead if they are to progress.

A trip to Ireland on Champions League qualification duty for the second year running would suit Celtic, especially our Irish-based supporters, but my money is on a more testing trip to Poland; Ronny’s pulse should have quickened on the news.

Zbyszek doesn’t reckon have what it takes to eliminate Celtic. All being equal, that may be the case, but summer football will be unpredictable for both clubs.

I am, of course, being completely disrespectful to KR Reykjavik, who we annihilate next week.

Not surprising Stokes absence after his reaction on Tuesday. Long overdue a kick up the bahookey. Pucki deserves a shot as does Griffiths through the middle.

It’s a conundrum for our manager in that what we need in the domestic game I.e. some guile to break down a deep lying packed defence is not going to do the job in. CL games where we are likely to be under the cosh and need blistering pace to give us a chance to counter attack.

Aquino could have a role in the latter but likely to be come a target for the boo boys in the hum drum SPFL.

I don’t know but do know he’s had persistant injuries and the Australians decided against taking him to the World Cup. He’s obviously talented but he’s not been in the professional game very long and I have my doubts he can put it together. Might be the type of player that needs to go away and play week in week out at a smaller club, learn the game them we’ll hear about him when he’s 27 or 28…

I don’t think any Celtic supporters or many officials know precisely Tom Rogic’s status, and that led to a lack of response to you query.

His loan period officially ended in May, I’d guess that he’ll stay in Australia, probably permanently.

Last I heard was that he got injured playing for Melbourne Victory and so didn`t make the World Cup squad.

I was on holiday in Australia towards the end of last year and watched him playing for Australia against Costa Rica in a friendly. He came on as a sub and played very well, Costa Rica couldn`t handle him and yet look how well they played defensively in the World Cup.

The Australian fans seemed to rate him as their great new hope and couldn`t believe he wasn`t an automatic pick for Celtic.

Its a strange one, he does have talent, so I don`t know why it hasn`t really worked for him here so far.

According to his Wikipedia page Tom Rogic is still a Celtic player.

    http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Rogić

On 17 January 2014, it was announced that Rogić would join Melbourne Victory on loan until May 2014. After Celtic pushed back offers from Sydney FC and Central Coast Mariners, and Vegalta Sendai pulled out, Melbourne Victory swooped in and sealed the loan deal, which placed Rogić back in the A-League after rising to fame with Central Coast Mariners.

He is indeed still a Celtic player and Wiki is ahead of the Official Site which hasn’t updated those out on loan including Atajic who is back, or Rojic who was never away, but is listed as a player.

If Celtic don’t tell us, there’s not much chance of knowing, I’d imagine though that Rojic hasn’t rejoined us at Lennoxtown.

    But it’s just a guess.
