Appellate body CEO taking sides

826

So the chief executive of the appellate body awaiting a decision to appeal says, “It’s crucial with league reconstruction being such an important issue for the game that we now draw a line under what’s happened”.

According to the SPL Commission the president of that same appellate body was one of the “directors of Oldco [which]must bear a heavy responsibility” for what happened.

Responsibility, however, is an unnecessary concept for the chief executive of the appellate body, who told the media “It’s not about trying to find scapegoats to take responsibility for what’s happened in the last 12 months.”

Note use of language, those responsible are now “scapegoats”.

Scapegoat, def: A person or group made to bear the blame for others or to suffer in their place.

Let’s not look for scapegoats.  Instead let’s stick to who Lord Nimmo Smith’s Commision blame, “the directors of Oldco”.  Including the appellate body’s president.

The appellate body is unfit as an appellate body and as a football association.  SPL clubs must look for a new playing environment.  Let the SFA and SFL run the grassroots game. They appear to want this anyway and I am sure SPL clubs will flourish when no longer restricted to opposition from Scotland.

  1. Agree Paul67 – but who will lead the fight?

Celtic have, in my opinion, acted correctly up until now by allowing the authorities the chance to act – but if there is to be no appeal from the SPL, if there is no resignation this week from CO then Celtic must go on the offensive.

We have nothing to lose, we have clout, we have money, we have the support of fans of other SPL clubs, if not their chairmen. The club MUST pick this up and not allow old rangers Sevco and the SPL/SFA away with it.

    What would Bob Kelly do?

    What would Fergus McCann do?

Time for Celtic to go on the offensive, I would rather they set aside money from next years transfer kitty and used it to pursue this matter.

  2. squire danaher – think he went to Hull? Is there not a young lad, Gayle, that looks a prospect for Peterboro………….

you maybe right but if anything that has gone on it teaches us that anything they do to cheat is possible because no one wants to call it.

  10. I have been unable to keep up with the volume of posts,so have had to scroll on several times so apologies if already remarks upon.

As with many posters and being cynical I wasn’t expecting but was hopeful. Since the outcome I’ve been in a foul mood and the only consolation is that I am thousands of miles away and don’t have to face those that think they have been vindicated. But the result and reasons do make the mind boggle.

This is the point I want to make though, there are two large groups of opinions on here.

1st:- Get the hell out of this rotten country and leave the rest to wallow in the muck etc., etc., and worse!!

2nd:- We’ve got to get all the other clubs supporters to join in with us (as per last year) and show our clubs we wont accept this etc., etc.,

Now, put as simply as this the two don’t match up do they?

Do you expect their help when you’re also saying you want to leave them in the sh..?

IMO Celtic’s supporters must first convince the other supporter groups that we are all in this together and that’s the only way we will be able to get our boards to represent our wishes for integrity, the same rules for all and applied to all regardless of size.

IMO this is the only way we can hope to overcome the “too big to fall” syndrome operating world wide. It’s only the small or poor that have to follow the rules and take their punishments!!

Can we change this??? Up to you!!!

  11. Paul67, that’s a sound series of observations. The king is clearly naked, but scribes and observers aren’t prepared to say so, so we’ll carry on in the wee fantasy land known as Scottish football. The land where one club operated with a uniquely parochial and arrogant approach to everything, from its employment policy to its social responsibilities. Yet its followers regarded the club as the sporting branch of the establishment club, and remarkably that club found itself by protected by agents of that very establishment.

If someone presented this history to Kafka as the possible outline of a novel, he’d tell them they’d taken it too far.

danso_1888 – They have been cheating forever and a day.It didn’t do them any good in the long run,did it? The Murray cheating was made possible only by their masonic bank. That is no longer an option for their.Their zombie incarnate referees will always remain a concern, you are right on that score.

It’s over the games a boogie. You can either accept that rangers can and will do as they want or you walk away from the game.

Celtic and the other teams in Scotland will do nothing about this. UEFA and FIFA will also do nothing about this. The whole game of football is corrupt and there is nothing anyone can do about it.

Me I’m walking away. Which kills me cause I live watching Celtic, but I can no longer accept what is going on.

    ———————

I’ve made the same decision. This will only change if Celtic show commitment to leave Scottish fooball before the start of next season…

  16. I did not expect their Titles to be Stripped during the week but I’m still appalled at the pathetic verdict. The verdict flies in the face of logic and natural justice and no wonder Celtic Fans and the club are outraged.

The situation post liquidation was ideal for fans. We were in a position to Influence club chairmen ahead of the votes to allow Newco into SPL and we succeeded in preventing that particular nonsense taking place.

What can be done in practical terms to pressurise SPL and SFA?

What is the attitude of other supporters of SPL clubs?

These are key questions! The more of a rumpus we can kick up about this the better!

  22. Any idea why the MSM are not asking Turnbull Hutton on his thoughts on LNS findings?

They might not want to know but I sure would. Suspect he would skewer them and go terribly “off message”.

  23. Richie – whether you like it or not there are a large volume of Celtic supporters who will not renew their ST and wont go back unless Celtic show some courage and show they are unwilling to accept this so called verdict.

As I have said before there was always a great danger that this affair could cause serious damage to Celtic. Celtic thus far have shown nothing but cowardice and a lack of leadership.

Celtic made their statement because and only because they are terrified that supporters will turn away. The old firm cabal has ended and none of us are interested in it returning. Celtic need to believe they were cheated and act upon it. At the start of the season Aberdeen fans held up a banner which said “your silence is defeaning” or words to that effect. They were and are correct.

I expect the SPL meeting to end with a statement saying they will appeal the verdict. I know it wont happen but if Celtic and others were serious they would do exactly that.

As you can now see – the huns are emoldened in the knowledge they still have the scottish authorities in their back pocket. Moves are afoot once again to accelerate them through the leagues.

If that happens – Scottish football dies – and it dies because of the corruption which is laid bare for all of us to see.

Unless Celtic act and act openly expect us to go backwards at a startling rate.
