Appellate body CEO taking sides

826

So the chief executive of the appellate body awaiting a decision to appeal says, “It’s crucial with league reconstruction being such an important issue for the game that we now draw a line under what’s happened”.

According to the SPL Commission the president of that same appellate body was one of the “directors of Oldco [which]must bear a heavy responsibility” for what happened.

Responsibility, however, is an unnecessary concept for the chief executive of the appellate body, who told the media “It’s not about trying to find scapegoats to take responsibility for what’s happened in the last 12 months.”

Note use of language, those responsible are now “scapegoats”.

Scapegoat, def: A person or group made to bear the blame for others or to suffer in their place.

Let’s not look for scapegoats.  Instead let’s stick to who Lord Nimmo Smith’s Commision blame, “the directors of Oldco”.  Including the appellate body’s president.

The appellate body is unfit as an appellate body and as a football association.  SPL clubs must look for a new playing environment.  Let the SFA and SFL run the grassroots game. They appear to want this anyway and I am sure SPL clubs will flourish when no longer restricted to opposition from Scotland.

If Celtic decline ,it will push they bastards up the leagues even sooner.

We have to be the strongest team ,we have no help from sfa ,spl or msm.

Our fans walking away is not the answer, our enemies would love this.

    Exactly!

It is quite simply incredible that Ogilvie remains in position as president of the SFA despite having been a director at Ibrox when serious, premeditated breaches of the rules of our game were committed. It is Banana Republic stuff.

If anything is going to be done about the huns cheating then the fans of all SPL clubs must mobilise, and quickly. I urge all fellow CQNers to show support to the SPL Fans United initiative and to spread the word.

If you doubt this – go to youtube and search the cup game where Bougherra and Whittaker get red carded – watch Djiouf’s carry on – then ponder the fact that Neil Lennon was the most censured person involved in that game.

  8. Aside from family matters there’s nothing I love better than going to see Celtic play whenever I can. That basic starting point means that I’m very uncomfortable with the thought of boycotting games – even those played at Hampden in the SFAs competition. I think we need to come up with something a little more imaginative. And if this is done in collaboration with other clubs then so much the better. Maybe the new “SPL United” website (can’t remember the correct name) will take this forward.

  9. Walk away from Celtic and you help the Huns. It’s as simple as that. The SFA and the Huns have tried to cheat Celtic throughout our history. At the moment though we are in a good place. Don’t give the bigots a chance.

  10. Joe Filippis Haircut on

We have thought for years that we were being cheated the MSM said we were paranoid but it has now been proved that we were being cheated and were not paranoid. Now you would think this is the time for the powers that be in Scottish football to sort the game out and make it fair and competitive for all the clubs but no they are pandering to one club the establishment club and they cannot wait to get the good old days back. Now I dont want my club playing in a rigged game I want the people trusted to run Glasgow Celtic to stand up for fairness and integrity if they dont do that in my opinion they will be complicit in allowing the cheating to continue and there will be little point in watching Scottish Football. H.H.

Congratulations to Falkirk, Dundee United and Hibernian in joining us in the Scottish Cup semi-finals, in no particular order. Will not look past the next round after last year, but the tie takes up a weekend fixture and helps keep interest towards the end of the season. Special mention to the Hibs fans though, fair effort down in Ayrshire.

  13. As one who has watched Celtic when 20,000 was a regular figure for attendances, I’ll be there making up the numbers once again. We have known for years we have been cheated; now, we have the proof. All that has changed is that even when proven guilty they are not punished properly. Indeed, their foot soldiers among the MSM are trying to have an apology made to them and that they be reinstated in to the SPL, where Mr Greene said he would never allow them to play.

Every single football supporter of every other Scottish team has to stand together and demand justice and the punishment of those who allowed such corruption to destroy our game.

  18. There is an SPL meeting to consider the LNS decision.

Celtic are but one member when it comes to taking a vote on any response.

Other clubs have to vote with us and that takes persuasion and time for fan anger to be fed back to other clubs.

The more arguments for rejecting LNS that come out before that meeting to influence those clubs the better.

It still remains an integrity issue and notthing so far puts integrity first. Quite the reverse

  19. Awe_Naw_No_Annoni_Oan_Anaw_Noo,

its quite possible that for a new powerful person to to emerge behind the scenes

he may have to trade in some sins being overlooked, well power in his head only

as many a person they say has been seduced by such thoughts.

  20. the long wait is over on

From our inception , in good times and bad, our survival and flourishing has been built on one foundation.

That foundation has helped Celtic withstand being assaulted by everything from shocking bias on the pitch and proven obstruction off it through to extraordinary over representation in our administrative bodies of men whose desire to assist Rangers appears to blind them to glaring conflicts of interest. For years we and our fathers have known these assaults to be real although they were dismissed as paranoia.

It seems the desire to assist Rangers to the detriment of all others is as real as it ever has been

That foundation is of course the support , year on year , of the fans in the very face of these onslaughts.

I cannot see what is to be achieved by us eroding that foundation ourselves , when it has survived everything else , other than to gift our enemies the very success it has denied them.

  21. Aw Naw

Celtic do not have all the power. That is amisconception.

They are part of a league and need to take them along.

What do Celtic do? Threaten to fold?

Who do you think would take our place?

  22. The Celtic board have already made a statement which makes it clear that the punishment doesn’t fit the crime and that it is nonsense to say they did not gain a competive advantage.

The Celtic board needs the support of other SPL clubs (and supporters) to take further action.

Unfortunately I doubt whether the other club chairmen have the will to do anything. If other clubs had lost SPL titles due to the cheating it might be different.

    Let the supporters speak now.

  23. the long wait is over,

it could also be argued that the same foundation has allowed this corruption to flourish by being easily put in its place, and accepting cheating.as a means of competing.

  24. TLWIO

I beg to differ. I feel in this instance to blindly go along with the corruption that has been proved is a game changer and I pray the other SPL clubs feel the same.

The SFA is no longer fit for purpose. If this is not addressed then there is also something wrong in OUR boardroom.

  25. 67Heaven ... I am Neil Lennon..!!.. Ibrox belongs to the creditors on

If Arsenal could become more clinical, they would be some team…play some great football, but no ‘grit’

  26. Chances are, the deid clubs tribute act will be deid in a years time. The income stream won’t cover costs. Chuckles will eventually run out of stuff to sell once the carpets and silverware are flogged on eBay. Honestly can’t see them surviving another season in the nether regions of Scottish fitba. That’s why there’s such a desperate campaign to get them up the leagues. We know it, they know it, burley knows it. Sit tight lads.

Ps. Boycott Hampden. Give us a beamback Celtic.

  27. Snake Plissken on

Sevco are running at a loss with near full houses. They cannot get European football never mind CL football for another 3 years.

Were they to win the Scottish cup next year (aye right) they would not get a benefit from it.

We’ve already heard of one winding up order. Where’s that going to go?

The cider deal is for a year. Hardly earth shattering.

They need more cash to be a realistic challenger and unless they can produce a rabbit from the hat this is their lot. If reconstruction happens and they are again in the lowest league and they do indeed “move on” how many idiots are going to turn up to watch the same dross players play the same dross teams?

You could drive a double decker bus through the lies pouring out of Green’s mouth (but we don’t have a media fit for purpose).

They will survive and eventually be in a position to challenge but with McCoist in charge, a bank which won’t allow them to run roughshod over everyone because Murray and his pals are no longer pulling the strings it makes it much more difficult.

Think of it this way, WITH the 80 million quid debt and friendly bankers, the benefits of the EBTs, the dual contracts and the players who should never have been there AND the referees AND the SFA all pulling for them out of those 5 titles they took 4 of them to the last day of the season, won one on goal difference and the other was down to Mowbray and ‘honest mistakes” while honest Celtic in the same time period racked up record points scores, leagues won by over 10 points under ONeill, Strachan and Lenny AND we had the 2008 comeback from the dead.

If that is how well they can do with everyone pulling for them what happens when you take away the EBTs, the dual contracts and the bank which no longer gives them carte blanche to do as they please thanks to the economic collapse of 2008 and the Lloyds takeover?

The have a numptie in charge, a useless squad who cannot be added to with cash until 2014 and even then who will sign up to play lower league football – only Scottish players who are die hard ones of them and we don’t play in an era where there are top class Scottish players at every Scottish club ripe for the picking when English Championship sides can pay them more money.

I have no doubt they are sitting, plotting and trying their damnedest to wangle them getting into the top flight sooner than they should but that is where the fans come in. We stopped it once, we can do so again.

No one has gone bust, Armageddon failed to show for all but ONE team – them. Hearts and Dunfermline may go down the plughole but these things were on the cards for years with Hearts especially whether their blue buddies had liquidated or not.

It would seem they over valued their own importance and if they use the crowd arguments they crowds would fall through the floor if the greatest piece of skulduggery took place in getting them into a higher league.

I agree we must be vigilant and we must not underestimate one thing – how much they truly hate us and every other team in Scotland. The SPL has been the best it has ever been this season and by God we and the other fans cannot sit back and let them in because guilty verdicts are celebrated as victory.

An appeal would cast doubt over all of it.

Lets wait and see what happens after this meeting.

What is essential for Celtic is qualification for the CL for the next 3 seasons or at worst 2 seasons with one in the Europa league – for entertainment value AND money.

Where will that put them when they get to the top league?

In quite a spot if Celtic have racked up 5 in a row and banked a ton of cash ready to use against them when they don’t have it and can’t get it until the qualify for European football and even then qualifiers are to be negotiated and we all know how FPLG does in cup competitions.

Walking away from Celtic is stupid. If our club did take a stance though I think more people would sign up and go through the gates.

Celtic need something to galvanize the fans again and this travesty of a decision might be it.

  28. I don’t want to stop following Celtic either but this ” we’ve always known the were the establishment team , nothing’s changed ” attitude busts my butt . I too went to Hamdump to see Celtic that season , I too have always bought my season ticket and I love Celtic too but we need to fight this .

We need to agree on the best way to do this not fight amongst ourselves.

That’s exactly what the cheats want , protests by all fans at all matches would be a start . The clubs also have to play their part , starting at the SPL meeting .

Not to fight would be a betrayal of everything we think Celtic stand for .

    IMO.

  30. Just had conversations, in the midst of my still feeling sick to the pit of my stomach about that stroke of the masons pen with several ex Celtic season ticket holders who stopped going when Tony Mowbray was appointed, and others more recently.

Carrying on with life, full steam, and they’re glad they no longer have financial investment in Celtic, as all the years of strife were laid bare on Thursday, and it’s all so pointless, real Celtic men to a man, who were in Milan and Seville.

Very depressing days ahead I fear, and Celtic’s minimalist statement won’t cut it for many, without intent and direction on the future of the club, it’s obvious this was a massive blow to Celtic financially, simply because more supporters will drift away.

There is a grey sky over Celtic Park today, and despite some spontanious Celtic support which there always will be, there is a futility about football.

Maybe then it’s for the good of Celtic.

You and the other glory hunters can pick up your petted lips and go support an EPl side; one of the big ones who win stuff, mind.

Some of us were there in THE dark days, when the Huns’ fix was at its most potent and the Kelly and White parasites were sucking the last drop of lifeblood from the Parkhead coffers.

You would have overdosed on negativity back then.

Which prompts my question – what exactly do you want to see Celtic do?
