So the chief executive of the appellate body awaiting a decision to appeal says, “It’s crucial with league reconstruction being such an important issue for the game that we now draw a line under what’s happened”.
According to the SPL Commission the president of that same appellate body was one of the “directors of Oldco [which]must bear a heavy responsibility” for what happened.
Responsibility, however, is an unnecessary concept for the chief executive of the appellate body, who told the media “It’s not about trying to find scapegoats to take responsibility for what’s happened in the last 12 months.”
Note use of language, those responsible are now “scapegoats”.
Scapegoat, def: A person or group made to bear the blame for others or to suffer in their place.
Let’s not look for scapegoats. Instead let’s stick to who Lord Nimmo Smith’s Commision blame, “the directors of Oldco”. Including the appellate body’s president.
The appellate body is unfit as an appellate body and as a football association. SPL clubs must look for a new playing environment. Let the SFA and SFL run the grassroots game. They appear to want this anyway and I am sure SPL clubs will flourish when no longer restricted to opposition from Scotland.

Paul, you are of course correct. The whole thing is an affront to notions of justice and fair play.
However, I do feel this is where it ends for us. Cannot see Celtic leading an appeal.

We dont know what the club will do as it depends only on ST sales if the recent past is anything to go by. The clubs main operator has now intimated twice that this is it. I reckon so too. The mental gymnastics to berate the games governors for saying less frankly than Peter Lawwell is transparent regardless of applelate body concerns. PL was saying this before WE even knew the LNS decision.

Delighted to see the Celtic statement on Friday and NFL statement.I really really hope this is but only the opening salvo of a concerted effort by the club. Really hope to see the club come out strongly in exposing the corruption in our game. Whether they do or not is open for debate .
What is not open for debate is my support of the club. I will renew my ST and always will whilst I’m in a position to pay for it.

I have the following questions in addition to yours:
1. What about the November 2000 – May 2005 SPL period? (Issues 1 and 2 of the report). Why did the commission not take a view on this period with respect to a “sporting sanction”?
2. What about UEFA matches? (Ref. The Battered Bunnet’s point and the FC Sion retrospective precendent.)

I feel I am fighting a losing battle on these 2 issues but my settled view is:-
1) Far from being seriously weakened, Rangers have dumped all their debt, in effect got the British public to pay for all their transfer excesses and subsequent success, but did not suffer the usually inescapable outcome of dying as a club.
It is not just in the minds of their supporters but in the minds and official records of all football bodies that they continue. They will celebrate their 55th title win shortly and the press, SFA and SFL will concur with that view. UEFA and FIFA will then record it on their sites.
Far from being seriously weakened, if they overcome their last remaining hurdle, the FTT appeal by HMRC, then you will see some real Money Men emerge from the shadows to buy out small time patsies like Whyte and Green, and recompense, in passing, the other Fakeover contributors, Ticketus, BDO and David Murray.
2) Not renewing a SB is not the equivalent of walking away from Celtic. You’d have to be an arrogant Uber:Celt to believe that only SB holders are true Celtic men.
When we resume playing under a football administration that is committed to fair administration and open competition, I might, if finances allow, be able to resume my supportive attendance of Celtic in Scottish football.
But I will always be a supporter of Celtic. No-one can strip me of that title.
