Appetites wetted, consequence of intimidation

608

For some, short holidays are over. Batteries recharged, appetites wetted. The international break is not the period of worldwide travel and mockery it is for others. If you think you are champing at the bit to get to Celtic Park on Saturday, Scott Brown and Kolo Toure could probably sprint there from Lennoxtown right now.

For others it will be a chance to put disappointments behind them. A few (well, maybe just Moussa) will return having achieved new heights for their country. As ever, Tom Rogic will pitch with jetlag having played in two continents in the last six days.

You know they will all want to see and impress Brendan. This is the way of it at Lennoxtown right now. They are bursting a gut at training to get into the team. Be alarmed, Motherwell.

You know when your PR is on nationwide TV, intemperate and pointy, that you are in special hands. Asking the same question four different ways lacks courtesy (and a whole lot more), but PR can’t let the journo leave knowing he’s got what he wanted from the encounter. I’m no PR expert, but you know when you see someone mis-control a proverbial back pass.

Still angry at that newspaper’s attack on Celtic yesterday. I didn’t buy it, so didn’t realise at the time they printed Peter Lawwell’s home address. You know what you are doing when you publish someone’s home address.  It rarely happens because the consequences are so uncontrollable.

It’s one of the most insidious acts legally possible by a newspaper. It has an immediate consequence of intimidation for the family – that’s a given when you make the decision to print something several hundred thousand times.  Utterly deplorable.  We are back in the era where attacks were incited on Neil Lennon.

Apologies for issues accessing the blog recently.  I’m on the case.

praecepta, I’ll be happier when its an agricultural engineer reporting on the value and sustainability of the hovel for use as pig farming land or preferably for growing potatoes. That would lend a certain irony to the whole affair.

It’ll be a novel farm tough, what with the Victorian lavy façade being listed and all. Good protection if sheep (or goats) need protection from a biting easterly wind.

Get it flattened, the sooner the better.

I asked the very last question of the evening, a bit too late if the truth be told. But it was bothering me all night.

A gentleman on the same row expanded on the answer about an incident in Hamilton. Was that you by any chance ???

I’m afraid a ‘heavy plant’ demolition (and dynamite) would be out of the question. It would need to be a ‘soft-strip’ due to unrecorded use of asbestos (at varying times) within the structure and its proximity to the underground.

Likely ‘Hysterical Scotland’ would also be up in arms about the listed facade. :-)

the daily record, drowning, resorts to what it knows best. shocking not surprising. if celtic are successful we’ll be better. if we are down and out and have no chance of any success we’ll threaten and intimidate.

  9. Now see this Atlantic league that’s been spoken about – again

Surely it will be the Top 2 or 3 teams from each country ?

So it’s Celtic, Aberdeen, and is it St Johnstone or Motherwell or could Hearts argue for them

Should go on last 5 years rankings in Scotland I would think

Would Scotland get 4 team seats in it ? So Celtic and 3 of the above 4

Celtic should also place the under 20squad in SPFL, to give them experience and prepare to play in the Atlantic league :-)

    Hail Hail

  10. Cowiebhoy: To qualify for the Atlantic League you must have a fans’ café, although not necessarily beside a superstore.

  11. HT,

Pleased to meet you :-) Just wished we all had more time. Extremely sorry I missed you after the meeting.

Spoke briefly to SFTB on the way out. I was gobsmacked how quickly he posted after the meeting. A really nice and intelligent guy, but don’t tell him I said that.

Like busses, met him twice within a few days.

Also noted that the gent at the front, represented the acquitted fan the other day.

Due to pesky work won’t make the next meeting ,at Govanhill I believe.

But I’ve no doubt we will meet up again, and I will certainly be attending more meetings when I can. I was totally impressed by the determination and knowledge of all concerned.

Any Celtic supporter, indeed any football supporter should attend one of these meetings and find out the real truth. My eyes were certainly opened.

HH to you and to the FAC team.

  12. DD/HT, Minx,

My condolences on your recent bereavements.

PL address issue, you do realise it is already a matter of public record on Companies House records. Not defending this breach of privacy but highlighting the fact that PL will be aware of the risk attached to his position. Stay safe!

    ===============

Exactly and when wee rab is pashed and wants to vent, do you think he will go on companies house and get that address.

Or do you reckon he will remember that newspaper had his address on it and digs it out the bin and phones a taxi??

Is that why the rectum published it???

  15. Greenpinata

Sftb is one of the good guys and has attended a couple of FAC meetings.

The lawyer you’re referring to, TG, is one of two who’ve been fantastic in their representation of football supporters under the Act.

Hopefully we’ll get an opportunity to shake hands soon.

  16. Someone (sorry for not looking back) reckoned the huns expenses in the near future we thus:

    £900k for Hampden Park Rental

    £10/20 Million for roof repairs

    £??? VAT bills for Q1 and Q2

No money to pay for the ongoing upkeep of the football club.

Do we reckon we will see the sell off of murray park?? or eve ipox???

Will the huns be homeless to stay afloat…………..or will they pheonix the phoenix???

    Harry Potter style?

  17. BOBBY MURDOCH'S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS on

Reading JJ and Phil on sevco debts to HMRC.

Now standing at three financial quarters of VAT.

Giving them the benefit of the doubt and only including ticket sales-they’ve hived off everything else bar VAT-exempt pie sales-I’d say that’s somewhere in the region of £2m.

Assuming also they haven’t paid their fine and costs to the SFA of £500k,and owe us the same for tickets and repairs, that’s a total of £3m.

That’s peanuts considering their operating loss of approx £1.2m per month. All of which is being financed internally by some right mugs.

Point is,sevco can opt for administration and a 1p in the pound CVA and lose all that debt.

We get stiffed,HMRC and SFA get stiffed. The well-meaning mugs, who are the only people who can stop it by voting against it,get stiffed because they dare not do so.

They can handle the points penalty too because they aren’t challenging for the league.

    Thoughts?

  18. CC-I will be at Ruggy Town Hall in the morning to honour Bobby Murdoch, a True Celt and an absolute gentleman. My applause will be for every CQN’r unable to attend, and wishes they could be there.HH
