Armageddon-SPL strong at the bottom

788

Dundee are nine points adrift at the bottom of the SPL but made a good fist of it against Celtic last night, after a rocky start.  They held their own for a good 30 minutes either side of the interval.  They are clearly the worst team in the league but they are a pretty decent worst team.  Armageddon-SPL is strong at the bottom end.

You and I know the Celtic support, as a group and to any statistically significant level, are vastly better behaved than any supporters of any other large football club.  This is a source of enormous pride but comes at a cost.  Over 20 years later you will still hear about fruit thrown by one idiot, I do.  This is a good thing.  It means that there has been little to talk about these past 20 years.

When you benefit from the greatest reputation in football you are held to the highest standards.  No one will blame Chelsea fans when we drop the ball.  I’ve heard no reports of damage or injury at Dens last night, but 20 years from now someone will tell you what was said by a representative of Dundee today.  This will be a good thing.

Just like to apologise to themelvingael for doubting his motives last night, spoke with a few present and it was indeed a flashback to the 70s

  2. Last nite was one that was waiting to happen…going by Huddleboard in advance of the game.

Good to see Pedro nip it in the bud with his statement

However if we are honest with ourselves there is an edge to the away support in certain games

It’s time we reviewed ticket distribution for away games ….so I ca always get what I need

PS. Podium best Christmas present this year ,even beats my good lady’s Corsica treat

You make a really good point regarding the reports of crowd trouble at Dundee last night.

A quick scout around Twitter and the internet and I’ve discovered that of the 4 Celtic supporters arrested, one was for singing Roll of Honour and one was for over exuberance at Sammi’s goal when a young guy jumped the barrier.

    Hardly life threatening.

  4. Well said Paul. Best support in the world bar none.Bound to be a few incidents every 20 years or so.

A few wee Bhoys who couldn’t hold their ale, massive contrast to thousands of Orcs who rampage at the drop of a hat !

  5. Living on a boat on the Thames now, best place to be in these floods I reckon. Plan is, once I learn all the naughtycal ins n outs, is to set the pointy end south and head for warmer climes.

In the meantime I’ll have to sign up for Celtic TV and join the moon howlers after watching the game at midnight or whatever.

  6. They come from bonnie Scotland, they come from county Cork,

They come from dear old Donegal and even from New York,

From every street in Glasgow they proudly make their way,

To a place called dear old paradise and this is what they say.

Celtic, Celtic thats the team for me,

Celtic, Celtic on to victory,

They’re the finest team in Scotland, I’m sure you will agree,

We’ll never give up till we’ve won the cup and the scottish football

league.

There’s Fallon, Young and Gemmel who proudly wear the green,

There’s Clark, McNeill and Kennedy the best there;s ever been,

Jim Johnstone, Murdoch, Chalmers, John Divers and John Hughes,

And sixty thousand Celtic fans who proudly shout the news.

ask A67,he was also unhappy with the fans behaviour…

the fans fighting drinking swearing etc…

7.30 ko on boxing day and no choirbhoys in the crowd…

  13. Paul67 a question re the Cqn annual if you will.

Is there any way you can check if an annual went to a certain addy, just thinking of a present by way of thanks, but if said person already had an annual……

Ps it would be a fairly obvious address.

By ‘a’, did you mean a fifth of the third division card? Every week?

  15. I noticed there was no mention of the steward being pushed down the stairs by a Dundee supporter.

Or indeed the 3 Dundee supporters who were taken away individually by the police and spoken to about their behaviour only to appear back at their seats minutes later.

    vp,

Always defend the support as a default, never recognised themelvingael, like bt, but after talking with a few I trust, seems I was sat down corrected.

I will always make the same mistake until I get the chance to consult my own sources, it’s easier to apologise to a good Tim than rue no quizzing a quisling :o)

bt we are rarely wrong when we questions of newbies making such claims I think it’s worth it.

I wonder if he asked ESPN for their recording of the immediate aftermath of Wilson being pulled back by Baird.

You know, the bit where someone urged Dundee to “get intae them Fenian b*st*rds”

  21. Hamiltontim, aye. I’m the last one who will give people who control crowds a hard time, the Dundee spokesperson sounded stressed, but these are the standards we are held to.

    Burghbhoy, there sure is.

    Boy Jinky, very sneaky.

dixiebhoy69, quite probably, but that’s not Celtic.
