Armstrong deal good portent for Celtic signings

334

The mood around Celtic Park was a bit sombre when Virgil van Dijk was scouted by Southampton.  Virgil looked like he was scared to break a fingernail in the capitulation against Legia Warsaw; we lost out on Champions League qualification, although the player was heading south anyway.

With Stuart Armstrong being measured for a red and white outfit, there is significantly less stress at Celtic.  Stuart delivered for Celtic during his three years at the club, but he left unable to command a regular starting place in the team.  We are selling a fringe player who has one season left on his contract for a fee which reflects the inflated English transfer market.

Celtic have managed this playing asset very well.  Consequently, they have more money available to invest in the team.  It is also worth noting that we could have sold the player a year ago, but resisted as Brendan Rodgers did not have back fill.  The manager has been preparing for this scenario since.  This should be an enjoyable summer for the Celtic support.

Bada Bing at 9.29, the goal he scored showed how much skill and technique he had even drawing a rapturous round of applause from the Jungle and other parts of the ground after he scored.

It was a tremendous solo effort beating three or four of our players .

  12. Hello from a sunny Lisbon. The locals are a tad quieter after Iran smacked them in the gub about an hour ago. Anyway , just a wee tale about our legacy in Lisbon.

I walked out of the Time Out Market around 6pm tonight and was approached by a large Senegal gentleman enquiringly if I would like to buy some of his wares. He took me and the Mrs to be German , as happens frequently, however on hearing the accent he says “Scotland? “. We chatted about my appreciation of the Senegal players in Russia and he told me that Patrick Viera is not much liked in Senegal after he chose France as his country. I then tell him about the famous Glasgow Celtic only for his eyes to light up and he told me all about the crowds who were in Lisbon last year. He couldn’t understand but knew we were a good bunch of people. He mention the “ Lions of Europe “ which was a good stab at it, and he was amazed I was back again for a second visit.

Needless to say my good lady now owns a genuine , African stone bracelet guaranteed to bring us long life and good fortune. What else was that 5 Euro note in my pocket for?

You must have read the earlier posts where contributors were discussing the likes of Pele, Maradona and Ronaldo. You must have seen what they did? Put their case forward as to who was the best player; backed up with a mixture of facts and opinions. Try it sometime. You don’t have to be controversial all of the time.

Does anyone think that there might be honest outcome ? I think it will be a whitewash. I hope I am wrong

  19. I do not think it was a penalty for Iran.In saying that,I have seen referees give similar in the English league regularly. That smug condescending twat Sheared would have been bouncing I the award had gone in Engerlunds favour.VAR is not perfect, but it has got most of the incidents to look at right.Spain’s equaliser tonight being a perfect example.Much rather have 10 right and 1 wrong than nothing.

I actually forgot about Zurawski, scored a few goals in the Hoops think the number 7 was a burden… Boniek now dumped to number 5 :-)

TONTINE TIM, I was at the Sunderland game. I thought that was John Hughes’ big day.

*cost me a relationship, when I read the score in the Citizen stop press segment i left her and a pal in the pictures and went with the pals boyfriend who wisnae a Tim and bought a bottle of plonk. Nae loss anyway.

The Bear and Chopper were the stars that night. Harry Hood, George Mulhall and a young former St Pats FP fae Helensburgh Nicky Sharkey played in the same forward line as baxter who was at inside left. They were managed by former deidco and Scotland captain ian mcccoll fae the Vale of Leven who had just walked out on managing the national side while it was still in the WC, seems tae be a common trait with that mob. The Big Mhan replaced him on a temporary basis.

Imo, Baxter had the ability. He squandered it through drink. He would have been more at home at Celtic Park, in that he played football the Glasgow Celtic way.

*as I said earlier he was playing for the wrong side, even the dour and presby management couldnae contain him.
